Stayed here for one night to attend a concert at the Scarborough Open Air. Location is great for walking to the Town Centre and the beach/front. Got a taxi to the concert venue (a couple of lovely ladies let us share theirs) as it is quite a walk but you can catch buses on the sea front.
The hotel is lovely, decor great and exceptionally clean and in a good location. Breakfast had lots of choice even cater for Gluten Free and was lovely and fresh. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

The town is a little shabby but there are plenty of well known shops. Very historic and would have loved to have stayed longer to see the castle, lighthouse and gardens .
I shall be returning for a future visit.

Visited to attend a concert at Scarborough Open Air. Spent the day on the sea front which was lovely plenty of amusements, shops, pubs, cafes, ice cream parlours.
The shame about the weekend was the weather rained all weekend and night but did not spoil any of the weekend just typical British weather. Plenty of shops to buy ponchos!

There's plenty to do that we didn't get around to.
There's plenty to do that we didn't get around to. Not much to do in the rain but we were lucky with the weather. Would have loved to go to the sealife centre but the tickets are too expensive. The beach is lovely, the family fun is great. It's everything you expect from a British seaside and more. There's not a great variety of places to eat if you want a nice meal but there's a plethora of fish and chips. Highly recommend the lifeboat fish and chip shop, all cooked fresh to order and very tasty. Next time we will spend more time at Scarborough Spa and the hills surrounding it. I have been going to Scarborough for 30+ years and never knew there was another cliff lift down there. We went up to Scarborough Market for our breakfasts, there are 2 cafes and we much preferred the one upstairs, the food was cheap, kids breakfasts were absolutely ideal for my 4 year old everything was fresh and so tasty. A cup of tea is only £1! Where can you get that nowadays?

Absolutely fantastic break here with my two kids.
Absolutely fantastic break here with my two kids. Gorgeous beaches, lovely Peasholm Park to explore (complete with train – which takes you to Sea Life), tram up and down the cliff and fabulous castle. So much to do and enjoy, all within walking distance. Ideal for travelling to by train!
we loved everything about the property. the decor was absolutely beautiful and unique. the room was huge. amazing bathroom. every single thing we needed was there - and even things we didn’t realise we wanted like a mini fridge, milk, home made muffins, a bottle opener and toiletries. The hosts are lovely and the breakfast is very good - they will more or less make you anything you ask for. we have stayed in Scarborough probably around 20 times and this is hands down the best hotel we have stayed in. thoroughly recommend and will be back.
It's the first time we have stayed at the Royal,0 and we only went room only, so cannot gage on food etc ..but the room was very good and clean ...access was excellent ..it was right in the place we needed it...just over the road to the lift down to the coastline, and round the corner for the high street...I have mobility issues, and was very happy I was on relatively flat areas wherever I wanted to go to outside.. so I will definitely book the Royal Hotel again when we come to Scarborough.
Large and comfy bed and the facilities were good. The room was a good size so made it easy to unpack and move around. LED lights were a good touch and very clean room. Staff were excellent and kind. 15 minute drive from Scarborough Beach which is why we stayed at this location and it was cheaper than other hotels which were closer to the beach. Always managed to find parking right outside the hotel which was nice especially on a weekend.
understood reviews were poor but unable to get alternative for NYE I decided to book, not expecting much. yes rooms are dated and not the best but hotel entertainment was fantastic! Different band/ music in each area, pool tables for kids, free hats party poppers etc. Rooms were clean, fresh beds just dated! This is easily the cheapest new year stay Iv ever had with lots of free entertainment!!
The staff were great, really nice , the hotel was so clean, they certainly have a great housekeeping team. Room was clean and we had booked a sea view room , chairs so you could sit and just look out. The only reason I give it a 9 out of 10 is personally I would have liked a long mirror, but other than that we would stay here again. Thank you all the staff we met you were great 👍
My first stay in this hotel with my daughter and we are definitely coming back. Hotel is so cozy, clean. Staff is very nice. Breakfast was the best we've ever had in a hotels. The atmosphere at the restaurant was very welcoming. We stayed in a small double room and it was very clean and cozy. It's very quiet in this hotel. You can't have a better location in Scarborough.
Great location and wonderful views of sea and scarborough bay. Nice area to walk and only 5 min walk to town. Staff were all excellent, friendly and professional they are a credit to the hotel. Fresh breakfast served in a wonderful room. Plenty of on street parking, provided with parking permit free of charge. Would definitely stay again
We liked the grandness of the hotel, when you walk in and see the beautiful grand sweeping staircase, the lounge was also lovely to sit and relax,we were upgraded to a sea view room which was beautifully clean and modern,we stayed bed and breakfast Which was also nicely cooked, plentiful with a good choice.
The apartment exceeded our expectations, clean, warm and welcoming, walks from the apartment were good, lift down to the beach 5 minutes walk away , the south side of Scarborough has lovely gardens to stroll down to the beach, all within reach of the apartment .

We really enjoyed our stay at Central Hotel. The staff were extremely nice, we were given a huge room with a view of the city and coast, and the facilities were in great condition.
Best value hotel in Scarborough (and I’ve stayed in quite a few!). Friendly and helpful staff and central location. No need for a taxi from rail station.
