Whitby always fond memories from family visits.
Whitby always fond memories from family visits. We enjoyed eating at (The Fisherman’s Wife) and found The Magpies disappointing as although they had a quite extensive menu they couldn’t fulfill our choices!

Plenty of places to eat and drink.
Plenty of places to eat and drink. Had a couple of visits to Mr Chips restaurant ,excellent food. Also a lovely meal at the Vault. Some restaurants get very busy so it is advisable to pre book. Whitby is ideally located for trips to other places, we also visited Scarborough and Robin Hoods Bay.

Historical Yorkshire fishing village with a history of smuggling and Victorian ladies discovering dinosaur fossils. Also Whitby Jet jewellery made from black fossilised wood. Steep hills and amazing scenery.
Go for hikes, beach fossil-finding walks, and a beer at the smugglers pub. A place for outdoor activities, not for sunning on a beach,

We walked down to the harbour and for £16 for 2 we travelled on the yellow bus tour which was great…very informative travelled all around Whitby with a commentary … arrived at the Abbey and allowed time to investigate… this hop on/hop off bus was well worth the money..lots of lovely restaurants bars to visit… a very quaint picturesque place with lots of personality..
Right in the heart of Whitby, this was the first time we have stopped at the Angel Hotel. To be honest, the photo's we saw online didn't quite do it justice. The room had a modern feel, was clean and comfortable and we will definitely book again when we next return. We were on the 2nd floor and heard no noise from the bar below. It was nice to have a view of the harbour too.
We stayed at The George Hotel in Whitby last night, Hotel blasting loud music from their bar until 3am which ruined our night and couldn’t sleep!! We were expecting a relaxing stay but we got the opposite. They were playing music so loud that you could feel the vibrations when sitting on the toilet. We paid £115 to sleep 4 hours and get blasted with DJ music.
We had two fabulous nights here @ the resolution hotel.. we stayed in room with lovely views - cost was a little extra but well worth it… staff were really nice & helpful.. location was perfect in centre of Whitby- breakfast was excellent with lots of choices- we had two evening meals which we really enjoyed again with all nice choices..
I originally wanted to book a place in Robin Hood's Bay, though I booked within a week and didn't have many choices. This turned out to be a decent option. We were able to walk from the hotel into the center of Whitby (a long walk, but doable) and grocery stores (very short walk). Free parking was much appreciated.
Lovely hotel right by the sea and beach we could hear the waves from our room 😊 Great views of Whitby and the harbour very close to the abbey steps. Great room comfy bed loved the coffee machine we will definitely be back.
