The centre of town is very touristy but if you are fit enough to walk the hilly streets you can find charming areas which are less well trodden. Restaurants of all varieties and to suit all pockets are available. Take a walk along the river, which is beautiful. Definitely visit the El Greco museum which is in a charming old house. Check before you go to some of the venues as we found various parts were shut at the moment. We also visited the Roman circus outside the city walks. There are some unusual escalators to get you down to the bottom of the hill. Two full days should be enough

Beautiful historic city which is compact enough to walk throughout. Although quite crowded with tourist visitors still has a good feeling and vib. Many places to visit, good range of shopping streets and variety of restaurants. Costs are acceptable for this type of place. Two full days are easily filled, allowing for different tastes and age ranges. Pre booking not really necessary but do plan an itinerary to get around all on offer.

There was a lot more to do in Toledo than we expected.
There was a lot more to do in Toledo than we expected. We were worried that 4 nights would be too long but it wasn’t, we were busy every day. The cathedral is stunning, the best building I have ever seen.

If you are interested in history and culture, this is the...
If you are interested in history and culture, this is the city for you. Beautifully restored remains from all periods of the city's history. Because of this, however, the historic quarters are always full of tourists during the day, and there is a surfeit of shops selling souvenirs. The streets are cobbled and steep, so be prepared to work hard! We were most interested in the Jewish Quarter and this did not disappoint, with many historic buildings well preserved and accessible. For a popular tourist city it was disappointing that much of the exposition in many of the monuments and historic buildings was only in Spanish. This is, however, a common problem in Spain, despite the fact that the majority of tourist speak English. (We live in Valencia and it's the same here). The tourist map. free from the tourist office, has an English version but the streets are so narrow, with so many small plazas, the, despite the fact that we enlarged it, the map was difficult to use. We would recommend buying a better quality large-scale map.
Food-wise, there are many good restaurants with a wide range of cuisines and all our experiences eating out were good or excellent.

Just an amazing, wonderful city.
Just an amazing, wonderful city. So many fascinating places including the white synagogue, El Greco museum, Cathedral and the general ambiance of the old city. We loved the tourist train that went around the city. It's a short (30 min) train ride from Madrid; book this in advance, they fill up, that's why we had to take the less desirable bus. Very walkable but realize it's all up and down, might be difficult for some people. Definitely stay overnight; tourists go home at night and you have the city to yourself. We ate at more or less randomly chosen little places that were uniformly good.

Tons of history, incredible beautiful cathedral.
Tons of history, incredible beautiful cathedral. Be prepared to walk tons of hills. You’ll like this if you are into historic buildings and history; otherwise you’ll be disappointed with other areas like entertainment and dining venues.
Though this hotel is at the top of hill, access from train station to the front of the hotel is simple and easy by Taxi! And in taxi, it's amazing to go narrow old way like maze. (Sight-seeing bus app couldn't been downloaded and we couldn't know when they arrive at each bus stops...)
Friendly and kind staffs, heart-warming breakfast in Moroccan room, great interior and spacious room of my favorite! Strongly recommendable if you really enjoy labyrinth-like and medieval attraction of Toledo with best price.
What a fantastic family run hotel, I would 100% recommend this hotel. I stayed for 3 nights solo for a local wedding. Hotel is half way up the hill at the very edge of the old town, so benefits for great views and is away from noise and hustle of more central venues. I had one of the smaller rooms, but this was more than adequate. The manager/host was very warm and welcoming and is much the reason I rate the hotel so high. Should I ever return to Toledo I would certainly stay here.
Location, location, location - perfect. Everything you wish to see in Toledo is within easy walking distance.
The hotel was of a boutique style but very comfortable, very clean and very tastefully decorated. Breakfast was value for money, the staff were all friendly and helpful, particularly the owners/ managers. There was a roof terrace that offered spectacular views across the old quarter of Toledo. Simply fabulous. This hotel was truly a gem, a real find.
The Hotel Sercotel Alfonso VI is extremely well-located in Toledo. It is walkable from the train station, especially if one gets good directions to the electric escalator under the town parking garage. The hotel sits at the top of a hill, close to the Alcazar, from which there is easy access to Toledo's diverse points of interest. The rooms are clean and generally well-maintained, and the staff is helpful.
hotel is a 5 minute drive away from the train station which costs almost 5-6 euros to go there. If you want to walk it's about 15-20 minutes. Toledo is all about hills up and down and the hotel is 2 minutes away from the electric stairs that take to the center (shops, restaurants, etc)
Receptionists are all kind and super helpful with directions and recommendations on where to have good food.
The location is amazing in the center of old town. It has a special feel to stay in a place with such ancient history. Under the apartment are some Roman Thermal baths that they found during the renovation. ( entrance is free).
But the highlight of this stay was meeting Miguel, our host and the best ambassador for Toledo. we will love to come back with the rest of the family.
The room was situated at the 1st floor of the hotel and had one of the most beautiful views. From the balcony you can see the city of Toledo. Honestly best choice you could do The hotel has a beautiful garden and restaurant plus the pool ( a small one) .From the hotel on foot you can arrive to Old town in 15 min....so it's OK.
The location and the staff members, both the receptionists, the lady and mister were very kind. The location is amazing, next to Alcazar. In raport with the price this hotel is fantastic. I will suggest it to my friends when they will visit this wonderful city.Thank you for making my visit in beautiful Toledo so amazing !
The location was amazing and the lady who runs the hotel was really helpful. Even though she didn’t speak a word of English, we managed to communicate every single time. Very clean room and a wonderful breakfast in the courtyard. I would recommend this place for a great Toledo experience.
Stayed in Hotel Boutique Adolfo for one night. It's located in the square...in the heart of Toledo. It was the perfect location for exploring. We arrived early and were able to store our bags. Although in the center of all the action it was surprisingly quiet at night.
This house has the best location in all of the city, amazing view, super nice host, and all the amenities you need for your stay in Toledo. Parking is available and is a short walk away and free. The house is clean and well maintained.
There are so many things to love about Toledo and this is one of them. Fairly convenient walk to town. Probably one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in my 2 months of travel. Hotel is gorgeous, room clean and lovely.
The hotel's location in the old town of Toledo is ideal and convenient for access to nearby attractions. The rooms are spacious and well-maintained, with a clean and comfortable bathroom that includes a bathtub.
The hotel is nice, looks pretty new and it is situated in a beautiful area. There is a terrace available for all the guests. It is outside old town Toledo ( 20 min walking) but on the way there is a nice scenery.
The best hotel we have stayed at. The room was very spacious and clean. Located super close to the train station. Staff was really friendly and helpful. Toledo is a beautiful city.
