We really enjoyed our stay here- the owner was absolutely wonderful! He gave us a map of the area and walked us through recommendations he had for us, including for places later in our trip outside of Killarney. The location was a short 10 minute drive to the center of downtown Killarney. Would definitely recommend!

FAQs about hotels in Killarney

The Lily of the Lake

Overlooking the tranquil waters of Lough Leane, colourful Killarney is a top Irish tourist destination. The UNESCO-listed Killarney National Park surrounds Muckross House, a stately home sitting in large grounds with a traditional farm.

A tree-lined lane leads to Muckross Abbey, a former Franciscan monastery whose cloisters enclose a tall yew tree. Celtic crosses line the cemetery and beyond is the lake, at the centre of which is a tree-lined outcrop, home of the historic Ross Castle. This 15th-century stone fortress once housed the O’Donoghue clan, one of whom reportedly lives at the bottom of the lough.

More legends envelop the Ring of Kerry – a scenic drive starting from Killarney and supposedly the last place to spot a leprechaun. Gushing Torc waterfall is just one of its fantastic sights.

In Killarney itself, horse-drawn carts roam narrow streets whose Irish pubs offer great nightlife. Impressive St Mary’s Cathedral has a towering spire and somewhat dark interior. The local gaelic football team play at Fitzgerald Stadium, and more sports can be enjoyed at Killarney riding stables and the nearby golf and fishing club. There is also a popular racecourse.

Accommodation in Killarney on Booking.com includes 5-star lakeside hotels, B&Bs near the train station and town centre guest houses. All with that trademark Irish hospitality.

There is so much to see and do around Killarney.

There is so much to see and do around Killarney. We spent our two full days there exploring the Dingle Penninsula and the Ring of Kerry. That left us an afternoon and a few hours to explore the town and Park. We walked a lot and saw as much as we could, but would have loved to have more time there. The are several bars and resturants, which were all good. I would say, we were there over the first weekend in June. We did not realize that this was a holiday weekend. It is also the weekend of The BikeFest. The town is incredibly busy that weekend. Crowds were happy and there was no problems, just very busy.

Killarney is very walkable. There are a plethora of bars, pubs, restaurants, coffee shops within a few blocks. I took the Red Bus tour and enjoyed visiting nearby attractions like the Torc Waterfall and the lovely Muckross House and Gardens. We've come to Ireland six times in the past 24 years but this was our first visit to Killarney. Killarney is very low on our list of places we have been. It's too crowded and touristy for our taste and, quite frankly, the Americans there acted like jerks. (As an American, I can say that.) We stayed for two nights, but could have done with one. I wanted to go to see the Gap of Dunloe, but the major jaunting car company, Killarney Jaunting Cars, did not offer a tour unless you took their Gap of Dunloe adventure package at 115 euro a pop. It was also 115 euro to rent a jaunting car from a private driver which was too expensive. We couldn't even see Torc Waterfall because we couldn't find a place to park our car. It was ridiculous. What we did: a visit to Ross Castle and Muckross Abbey, plus a jaunting car/boat excursion in the Killarney National Forest could have been done in a day. We will not be returning to Killarney again.

This was the 2nd time we stayed in the Fairview and I can't fault it in anyway. The location is excellent, just 2 mins walk to the town centre, our room was perfect for 3, a double and a single. We were leaving early on the Saturday before breakfast and we were accommodated as were others, we were provided with a continental breakfast which was very tasty. On Sunday we had a taste of what we missed the day before as Breakfast is excellent. A very nice hotel and the staff are very friendly they always had a smile.

The B&B is extremely clean and beautiful. We had an unfortunate accident in our trip and reached very late to Killarney, but the hosts were accomodating and let us do a late check in. Rooms were neat clean and smelled good. We were lent a fan by Andrew as we found it hot inside that day. Location is right in town centre, close to the bus station, hoho redbus pick up spot and a bike renting place is also close by. Breakfast was decent.
