I chose the Alwadi hotel because of it's location to the Souq Watiq. Also the marina was close by. Unfortunately the temp was over 40 deg so apart from a visit to the Souq Our sight seeing was a little curtailed. I visited the Souq early evening on my own. I didn't feel unsafe. So if you are a woman on your own and you dress respectfully you can walk thru the Souks quite safely. It's a very clean city.
