The volcano hike was amazing and so beautiful, but there wasn’t much else to do after that. If in a straight couple or a mixed gender group it might be more pleasant to wander around and explore the the town, but as a solo woman or two women it was quite uncomfortable in terms of the amount of attention and harassment we received. So I went to Lake Toba and Medan by public bus. It was very cheap and really easy. Cecelia 1) She really knew a lot about cooking and was very good at explaining it in English. 2) She was a good cook as well. They were very kind and treated me like one of the family. Comfortable even though there is no fan or air conditional. The family room is spacious. The resort has nice landscape garden. There is a vegetable farm beside the accommodation. Have nice view of Gunung Sinabung. Although breakfast is not included, it's cafe also serves delicious western food. Like the quiet yet calming of the atmosphere of the hotel. Mery helped with organising our travel to and from Berastagi and tips for the local area, and we did an amazing sunrise tour to the volcano and hot springs with Abdi which was a real highlight.
