A beautiful island with an underwater world like nowhere else in the world. wherever you put your head under water, you will find a beautiful coral reef. A very safe island, as a woman I was not afraid to go anywhere alone. The local people are very polite. Great food at great prices rent motorbikes and see the whole island. on Bunaken are NO cars restaurants don't have a big menu, but everything is always fresh. diving here doesn't cost much, you should definitely try it (even without a license) snorkeling is amazing. there is no ATM here, but some restaurants will give you cash for 5%. when paying by card in a restaurant they charge 3% (but not everywhere you could pay by card). in general stores you could only pay in cash.Guest review bySlimo-BASlovakia - 10.0
This island's coral life is amazing.
This island's coral life is amazing. The best point in north Sulawesi for scuba diving. The reef wall has wonderful biodiversity. Center of the southern part of the island is the best spot and easier to reach the coral wall. Island of Bunaken is very accessible on a short boat ride from Manado harbor. The island itself is very quiet, almost boring if you come looking for lively nightlife or bars & restaurants. The island is very beautiful, a place from which to go diving and snorkling. There is everything for everyone. Unfortunately, the plastic is at home in a national park! Tourist activity has started to destroy the coral reef in some places. In a few years Bunaken park will be only in name. Dive operation Celebes Divers made me feel very welcome and couldn't do enough to assist my diving. At 78 years old and with a scuba career of nearly 50 years, Dive leader Ali and the other dive team members plus the boat crew did all they could to assist me in exiting the water, given my knee problems, by me doffing my equipment in the water, crew members lifting it up onto the deck, so I could climb aboard unencumbered. Dived an interesting Japanese freighter wreck sunk by the Americans in World War 2 and several reefs chock a block with fish & corals. Well done Celebes Divers staff!Guest review byHaines
