I stayed last year about this time while walking the 88. This year was much quieter. Everything was as expected: well run and maintained. I still wasn’t able to get the waitress at the restaurant across the street to warm up to me, though. Hopefully my Japanese will improve enough thst I can impress her.

I arrived early. Was met with great courtesy and given a ride to and from Monet’s garden. I asked to pay for this, and my offer was declined. I had walked 18 miles and could not face the prospect of further walking to find dinner. What was immediately available in the premises more than met my needs.

What an incredible place. The hosts are so nice and the cabin is absolutely stunning. The best nights sleep we got on our 2 week roadtrip. We really appreciate the 0 waste aproach and wish we had more time in town to talk to the hosts about it.
