Glenn was wonderful and took me to a gorgeous room overlooking the garden, beautiful Belgium linen and 2 chocs by the bedside table.. Delicious coffee in the morning and I met the amazing Alix who designed the place, def had that womens touch. It was like a 10 star hotel and yet so tranquil to stay.

A Historical, Cultural and Culinary Gem

Located in the Flemish region of Belgium, the beautiful medieval city of Ghent is not only a city of history, but also a romantic place to visit. The city is full of hidden historical, cultural and culinary gems that you can easily discover.

The Gravensteen or 'Castle of the Count' is a deceptively enchanting sight dating back to the Middle Ages. Constructed by Philip of Alsace, the count of Flanders, it's partially surrounded by a moat and beautifully restored, and hosts an interesting museum about the history of prison life.

Part of the UNESCO World Heritage list, the Belfry of Ghent is a medieval tower overlooking the Old Town centre. Saint Bavo Cathedral and Saint Nicholas' Church are the city's other two towers, with St. Nicholas' Church being one of the oldest landmarks in Ghent (known as Gent in Flemish).

Enjoy a relaxing walk in the picturesque medieval streets and stop at one of the charming traditional restaurants for Belgium beer and a classic Flemish meat stew with French fries. Local delicacies include the popular Belgium chocolate and the purple jelly-filled candies called the 'noses'.

Utterly beautiful city with lots to offer.

Utterly beautiful city with lots to offer. A kayaking tour of the city is a great way to see may of the landmarks around the water. The cultural landmarks are fantastic (some churches allow free entry when not during service hours). Gen X Record Shop had someone spinning records and was a great place to sit and have a coffee and beer. Otomat had fantastic pizza and, if you can get a window seat, is a great view to people watch from. Plus, if you're visiting from outside the region, do yourself a favor and go to an AH (grocery store) to grab food and a drink to sit in a park or by the canal. Also to look out for while visiting is the music scene. While the Gentse Feesten is a clear highlight to visit for performances, there are also smaller things to find. Kinky Star (a bar/ music venue) had a great, young band (Rewilding) during my first night in the city. Overall, an easy-to-miss but can't-miss city in the region that I look forward to returning to in the future.

The city is beautiful, especially its architecture, but I think the food could be much better. Although some immigrants were extremely disruptive, the city itself was wonderful. It is especially beautiful at night.

Boat trips were relaxing.

Boat trips were relaxing. It was a shame that the man doing the commentary spoke so fast and unclearly that I couldn’t understand much. I asked him to slow down but he did for 3 words then returned to gabbling!

Interesting city, and less touristy than Brugge/Bruges, but with similar Flemish history and ambiance. There is a useful rail link from Gent to Lille Flandres in France that speeds the connection to Eurostar at Lille Europe, if continuing to the UK, with less hassle at the border control and security than at Bruxelles Midi.

Ghent is absolutely amazing!

Ghent is absolutely amazing! There is so much to explore and take in. The vibe is great - probably due to a large student population which keeps it progressive. So many bars and eateries and amazing architecture. Less twee / chocolate box / touristy than nearby Bruges. I really recommend staying to Ghent. Could use it as a base to visit Bruges and Brussels as both close on train. (We did stay in Brussels for 2 nights but wishes we had foregone in favour of Ghent as it was disappointing).

Very friendly host and nice, spacious rooms. Very calm, we slept great there. The breakfast was very nice: we received a breakfast basket every day with items we had chosen (e.g. croissant). The place is well located for those keen on both exploring Belgium and Ghent. It's a ten minute walk from the city center and about the same to make it to the station. Several options nearby as well to eat.

Very happy with our stay here. The city center is a 25-minute walk away, but it was a pleasant walk. We had connecting rooms as a family of 4 and everything was perfect. Comfy beds and very clean. Our children had a great time playing table tennis at the hotel! It was also one of the most budget friendly hotels we found, considering Belgium prices. Overall, very pleased!

The hotel is located right in the center of Ghent. Restaurants and things to do/watch are at walking distance. Very nice buffet for the breakfast and clean rooms. The staff at the reception and the bar are super friendly, especially Raquel, Serda, and Eduardo. We loved the location of the hotel and the warm greeting from the receptionist. We were provided with a map of Ghent and lots of interesting sights, restaurants, shopping area and historical buildings were pointed out to us to enhance our stay. We also loved the waterfall shower in the bathroom!
