Pastel-hued houses impressed on hills and the serenading sea breeze make Positano a sublime vacation spot in southwestern Italy. Snuggled in the far end of the Amalfi Coast, this resort town unfolds a series of dramatic vistas that lend themselves as backdrops to its seaside restaurants and chic boutiques.
A road trip along the Amalfi Drive is undoubtedly the highlight of a holiday in Positano. Set out on a journey through the 48-kilometer cliff and sea-hugging route, and you'll pass by charming towns and coastal villages. Navigate the hiking trails of the Path of Gods to snap photos from vantage points overlooking the rugged landscapes and gleaming ocean. You can also spend some quiet time at the Church of Santa Maria Assunta, whose tiled dome stands out from the stacks of vertical villas.
The best way to explore the splendour of Positano is on foot. Walk the narrow streets, which are chock-full of souvenir and handicraft shops, up to Spiaggia Grande – the main beach of this resort town. Here, you can find a sunbed underneath an umbrella and admire the scenery of the pebbled shores. For a relaxing stroll amid the sea and cliffs, head to Fornillo beach, located a few minutes away.

Great views, scenery and nature. A bit tiring due to the stairs. Your hotel's location is important, mine was very well located. Not far from the beaches but still with a very nice view. I recommend the restaurant Donna Rosa, very nice food and elegant place for dinners.

Positano is a very pretty town and part of a beautiful dramatic coastline. It is well worth spending extra money to have a holiday there, it is expensive but beautiful. We ate at Chez Black on the seafront and the food and service were excellent. We also ate at L’escolia at the other end of the beach and that was beautiful overlooking the sea. We hired a private boat with Skipper Simon from Positano Boats and went around Capri island, calling at Nerano for lunch at Maria Grazia restaurant which was arranged for us by Simon, plus a couple of swimming stops and grotto sites. That was very enjoyable. You need to be aware of steps and slopes around Positano but people are always willing to help.
The city is absolutely incredible.

The city is absolutely incredible. Great food choices and plenty of views and shopping. Parking in the city is a nightmare. Just use a taxi or driver service or pay to park in a garage as the street parking will get you killed.

Positano is a very charming town. It is crowded, but the villa fortuna was a great place to run away from all the chaos and relax at our outside jacuzzi. We had dinner at savinos, and it was far the most best Italian food we’ve ever had. The villa is a great place to stay. many restaurant’s and a short walk down to the beach. Highly recommeneded
Beautiful location and so picturesque.

Beautiful location and so picturesque. Incredibly expensive compared to the rest of Italy but I expected that. Coming from Australia doesn’t help with the exchange rate. As long as you are prepared for the expense don’t miss visiting this beautiful location.
Positano was amazing!

Positano was amazing! There were beautiful views all around. There was so much to do in Positano and the neighboring towns, I felt that 4 nights were not enough! It is quite pricey compared to other parts of Italy, but to me it was worth it.
