This place is absolutely fantastic and probably our top 2 spot of our 3 weeks across Japan and many ryokans, airbnbs and hotels so that is a great compliment. Lovely and quiet neighbourhood for a restful sleep. I love the little road it's on and we met a really nice Japanese lady there on a bike, as well as a cat! You have an entire well-equipped and beautiful traditional Japanese house to yourself with modern amenities, and the price/value is great considering you could even stay here with more than two people. The host picked us up from the station which was very kind and helpful. The futon was one of the most comfortable ones we have slept on, even suitable for "soft" Westerners. It's in walkable distance from some great temples and restaurants + cafes. Highly recommend booking this when you're staying in Kanazawa!

Amazing place to stay if you’re looking for a ryokan experience. Beautiful ryokan with a lot of attention to detail. Our host Hitty was great, he gave us a brief introduction to the history of the place which was very interesting and a lot of great tips where to go and what to do at Kanazawa.

We were picked up at the the train station by the host. He gave us a tour while explaining the features of the home. We found an amazing small riverside restaurant (Huni) just a 10 minute walk away. Kenrokuen Garden is a 10 minute walk and should really not be missed (I'm not even a garden person). The location of the home lends itself wonderfully to exploring on foot. If you overdo it, taxis are plentiful and cheap.

This was a wonderful find. The property manager offered and did pick us up from Kanazawa station and drove us to the property (no extra charge)! He then showed us how to use the door lock and the heaters (it was in the 50s when we visited). This is a Japanese home and has a kitchen stocked with pots and pan if you want to do your own cooking. Note they don't have any sauces, salt or sugar on site. We made good use of the washing machine and washed our clothes during our stay. However, it should be noted that even in many Japanese homes they don't use dryers, so had to hang dry our clothes. They did have drying racks at the property to use and we even got our jeans dry by this method. The stairs, again like many Japanese homes, are narrow and the bedrooms are on the second floor, so this might not be the place for you if you struggle with narrow steep stairs. The kitchen has an associated breakfast nook with a nice big window, but there are apartments that are on the other side, so use the blinds if you want privacy. The beds were the best we found in Japan and were warm and comfortable. One bedroom had two full size Western beds and the other room had tatami mats with futons (doubled up for extra comfort). You might be able to fit four people in the tatami mat bedroom if needed. If you haven't slept on tatami mats this is a great place to start. Both bed rooms have great natural light and the neighborhood was nice and quite. Given this was a home we had plenty of space. The home is walking distance from many of the sites you would want to see in Kanazawa including Omicho market, Kenroku-en. We found the most wonderful bakery called Hippo bakery. Japan, 〒920-0855 Ishikawa, Kanazawa, Musashimachi, 14−3 １階. I would highly recommend it for breakfast. We also did the Geisha activity with IN KANAZAWA HOUSE which was amazing! This venue was close to the property and I could send a week doing all their activities.

Beautiful traditionally styled house. Updated with modern amenities. Lovely antique touches and very clean. Thoughtful appointment throughout. Full kitchen for Japanese style cooking. Sweet little Japanese garden area in the back. Hostess, very helpful, prompt and thorough.
