This friendly and relaxed hotel has superb views over Killarney's Lower Lake and MacGillicuddy Reeks. It is a gateway to the Ring of Kerry on the shores of Loch Lein.

Lough Lein was absoloutely outstanding. Paul and Annette were the perfect hosts. The hotel itself is so welcoming and spotlessly clean. The room we had was large and had the most beautiful views of the lake. The room was spotless. The breakfast had so much choice and the cooked breakfast was gorgeous. If I could give it 10 stars I would! We will definitely be staying there again. Wonderful hotel.

FAQs about hotels in Killarney

The Lily of the Lake

Overlooking the tranquil waters of Lough Leane, colourful Killarney is a top Irish tourist destination. The UNESCO-listed Killarney National Park surrounds Muckross House, a stately home sitting in large grounds with a traditional farm.

A tree-lined lane leads to Muckross Abbey, a former Franciscan monastery whose cloisters enclose a tall yew tree. Celtic crosses line the cemetery and beyond is the lake, at the centre of which is a tree-lined outcrop, home of the historic Ross Castle. This 15th-century stone fortress once housed the O’Donoghue clan, one of whom reportedly lives at the bottom of the lough.

More legends envelop the Ring of Kerry – a scenic drive starting from Killarney and supposedly the last place to spot a leprechaun. Gushing Torc waterfall is just one of its fantastic sights.

In Killarney itself, horse-drawn carts roam narrow streets whose Irish pubs offer great nightlife. Impressive St Mary’s Cathedral has a towering spire and somewhat dark interior. The local gaelic football team play at Fitzgerald Stadium, and more sports can be enjoyed at Killarney riding stables and the nearby golf and fishing club. There is also a popular racecourse.

Accommodation in Killarney on Booking.com includes 5-star lakeside hotels, B&Bs near the train station and town centre guest houses. All with that trademark Irish hospitality.

English: Killarney it's a beautifull town, I came there only for few days because I had Irish Citizenship ceremony there. It was amazing experience, so many shops, restaurants, pubs, people, interesting places, I really miss this place, I have a feeling I will come back to that place.

There is so much to see and do around Killarney.

There is so much to see and do around Killarney. We spent our two full days there exploring the Dingle Penninsula and the Ring of Kerry. That left us an afternoon and a few hours to explore the town and Park. We walked a lot and saw as much as we could, but would have loved to have more time there. The are several bars and resturants, which were all good. I would say, we were there over the first weekend in June. We did not realize that this was a holiday weekend. It is also the weekend of The BikeFest. The town is incredibly busy that weekend. Crowds were happy and there was no problems, just very busy.

This was our second stay at the Arbutus. The hotel is well located in the town centre, near the railway station. The public rooms are beautiful, traditional interiors in Georgian style, with elements of Celtic ornamentation. There are numerous examples of 'Killarney furniture' in the hotel, a distinctive form made of locally-growing arbutus wood with marquetry inlay. The hotel bar has the character of a tradtional Irish pub with some excellent decor, including an art deco fireplace. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly.

The owners and the staff made our stay absolutely amazing. The warmest welcome, help with our sick child, kindness and immediate support in all the matters - it feels like you're welcomed by friends who do truly care about you. And all that in addition to absolutely delicious breakfast, very comfortable and stylish rooms, and the location in a short walking distance to the town centre. The B&B is extremely clean and beautiful. We had an unfortunate accident in our trip and reached very late to Killarney, but the hosts were accomodating and let us do a late check in. Rooms were neat clean and smelled good. We were lent a fan by Andrew as we found it hot inside that day. Location is right in town centre, close to the bus station, hoho redbus pick up spot and a bike renting place is also close by. Breakfast was decent.

I would definitely stay here again if I visit Ireland again. The 19th Green guesthouse is located in a great spot. Waking up to morning birdsong is also a treat.
