The River Lee Hotel a member of The Doyle Collection

The River Lee Hotel a member of The Doyle Collection

Cork

On the banks of Cork’s River Lee, this luxurious hotel is a 5-minute walk from central Cork. It boasts air-conditioned rooms, bistro, and free parking. We loved this hotel and the entire experience. On arrival we had booked one of the very large river view executive rooms on level 3 however due to the major building works next door we asked for another room. This was no problem for the staff and we were fortunate enough to be relocated to the 5th floor executive river room. We preferred this view too; it included the beautiful town and the river from a large bay window. The room was spacious, bright, modern, with effective lighting; it wasserviced with adequate wardrobe storage and a exceptional bathroom. There is an elevator from the carpark which is a bonus and getting around the hotel is very easy. The restaurant and bar provided comfortable seating and both offered a very nice ambience. The restaurant food was excellent; the bar was still experimenting before being fully opened to the public. The hotel location is slightly out of the centre but certainly close enough to walk to and from for eateries and shopping. The executive level lounge services were perfect; alcohol is not provided so you will need to order this as part of room service. The snacks and drinks were substantial; the lounge was modern and regularly serviced. We loved this hotel and would not hesitate to recommend it; it you are looking for the large, modern chain hotel.

FAQs about hotels in Cork

Irish Spirit In A Nutshell

Situated on the banks of the River Lee, Cork’s city centre was originally built on marshes and many of its popular streets are constructed on the former river channels. With a thriving nightlife and a vibrant cultural scene, the Irish Republic’s second biggest city is full of surprises.

Those interested in history should pay a visit to the Cork City Gaol, an old prison transformed into one of the city’s most fascinating attractions, or join the Cork Historic Walking Tours, which offer a great opportunity to learn all the city’s secrets.

For those craving more lively entertainment, the city offers the famous Cork City Pub Crawl or even more exciting, the Barrack Street Challenge, where participants drink pints of beer in all bars along Barrack Street.

The shopping area is concentrated around the most famous street - St. Patrick Street. For local food specialities like crubeens, tripe and drisheen, browse bars and restaurants around MacCurtain, Washington and Oliver Plunkett Streets.

When flying to Cork Airport, you’re just a short taxi or bus ride from the lively city centre. Don’t worry about accommodation; Booking.com has plenty on offer, from convenient hotels, to cosy guest houses and bed & breakfasts.
