Fantastic location, expensive breakfast if you only want coffee and toast. Clean, efficient and good parking.
Superbly located in Portsmouth’s lively waterfront development, Gunwharf Quays, this hotel offers bright, modern rooms with buffet breakfasts. Shops, bars and restaurants are on the hotel doorstep.

There was a multistorey car park right opposite. I also liked the nautical theme, and there was Aspells cider behind the bar. The staff were also friendly and helpful.

Assess to the beach for disabled people not very good, could only see the sea from a distance, otherwise very good for people in a wheelchair or on a mobility scooter lots of ramps to go up and down.
Mike’s restaurant in Mengham was very good and dog friendly.

I grew up on "The Island".
I grew up on "The Island". My teenage years were the best of my life. Some of my friends still live there. Many things have changed over the years of course, some for the better, some for the worse, but that depends on your point of view. Overall its still a pleasant seaside community, just not as small and intimate as it used to be.

The Hotel is called Newton House Hotel.
The Hotel is called Newton House Hotel. No idea why you are asking me to review South Hayling. Only there for one night, staying at Newton Hotel, friendly staff, and Receptionist rectified problem with missing remote for TV immediately within half an hour of me checking in. Lovely hotel.

Used as a base to visit other locations.
Used as a base to visit other locations. Other than long walks along the sea front didn't really see anything of the island. We wouldn't stay on the island as a holiday location. We chose it because the property rented looked and was so good and takes just a few minutes to drive off to other places. It was very quiet, not sure how busy the seafront is in summer.

Hayling island was a joy to visit, plenty to see, lovely scenery and we found it to be a very clean and safe place to visit.
Eating out:
The Ferryboat Inn, overlooking the lake at Sinah beach was in a lovely location with great waterside views where you can watch the boats coming & going. The staff were very polite and accomodating and the food was very good.
it is dog friendly and there is a large car park, you get 3 hours free parking if you are a restauraunt patron, you ask for a qr code in the restauraunt and then present it at the machine for scanning when you leave.
Nice, peaceful and beautifully presented inside and out. The room was spotless and flawless. I have stayed in hotels across the world, paid significantly more for substantialy less than the accommodation provided at Waratah Lodge. The breakfast is spectacular. Highly recommended.
I know it is difficult to strike a balance of maintaining the exterior appearance of this delightful property, a little more signage on the road side might help make it easier to find as being on the main road it is easily missed.
Beautiful old building and really friendly helpful staff! Bedroom comfortable and had everything we needed for a night's stay. Stayed in stable block, view over car park not great but ok for one night. The hotel did had a lovely garden. Hotel was only 5 mins drive from the beach and a short walk from a little row of shops, cafes and a Thai restaurant.
The cabin had everything we needed for our stay and was better than any hotel room due to the location opposite the beach and the enclosed sun trap patio with BBQ. Sharon the host made us most welcome and would certainly recommend this booking.
Stayed at this property with my workers and everyone was very happy playing pool and ping pong. Great sun sets and sun rises. Never right reviews normally and we are away every week staying in hotels/ apartments but this one deserved it. 👍👍👍
.
. We had two nights at the Newtown House Hotel and really enjoyed our stay
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Food was good and served in nice surroundings.
Would definitely stay there again
The hotel is essentially fine. It's 3 star level, but there's a functional bar, friendly staff who work hard, and my room was adequately clean with a good bed. Breakfast was also up to scratch.
Nice place although I arrived after 11pm and had left by 7am so I really only experienced my single room. They were happy to let me secure my bicycle under cover at the back of the hotel.
