Big Rapids is a family-friendly small town with a nice riverwalk trail, interesting and walkable downtown and college campus areas, and some very picturesque views. There were a lot of empty shops downtown but the area felt safe and looked like it was fairly active during the day. An hour or so of driving brings you to Lake Michigan or Grand Rapids, and the area features parks, hiking, mountain bike trails, and more. We visited the city to take part in an orientation at Ferris State University, but our whole family thoroughly enjoyed the area beyond just the campus tour.

I recommend this hotel for a short stay in Big Rapids.

I recommend this hotel for a short stay in Big Rapids. The staff was pleasant and polite, and the room was clean. There were no issues with the stay, and my family felt safe with the covid precautions. We were glad to see a return to a regular hot breakfast buffet and would definitely stay here again.

    Beautiful Area!!

Beautiful Area!! My kiddos watched Deer in the back field of the hotel after arriving. I live an hour away (Ferris State former student), and Ferris State Bulldogs exemplify a respect a a University town in Mid Michigan. If you go downtown there are bulldog Sculptures at various businesses. Get a picture! They are all painted separately and large & beautiful for family pics! There is a river, Muskegon, and a Nother area with streams . There is a beautiful park behind the Dairy Queen that is open during the summer and A&W restaurant right next-door with beautiful cheese curds and root beer . Safe area with Meijer’s right next door. Culvers has quality Ingredients (next door), Jimmy John’s is across the road at Shell Gas. Wesco (24/367 very close by). Walmart is next-door. And Ruby Tuesday’s is Within walking. Applebee’s, Buffalo Wild Wings Are only about a mile away. Check out the rock Café at Ferris State University as well or a Bulldogs Hockey game. There are a few parks and beautiful Areas for young-teen children. My son is 16 and his favorite place is the skate rink downtown. They have a theater in the downtown area as well with new releases. Ferris state library is a beautiful eye-opener for children. Look them up. They have one of the finest liquor and Wine stores that I have ever seen in my life. They even have organic vodka. They have been in the town forever Grunst Brothers. They also have a Crankers brewery And blue cow Café with local foods and beautiful ingredients. I would definitely check out the sawmill if you want some peace and a good peaceful drink on the town as well. They also have live bands And a great outdoor area with bonfire/billiard capability’s. These are just some of the things that I love about big Rapids. Safe travels always 🙏

Holiday Inn was dirty , someone was in our room, I guess, as we couldn't get in it, so they put us in another room. The bathroom floor was sticky and dirty. It was noisy with the cars going by. No refrigerator no microwave, No breakfast because we have a cheaper room I guess. The rug in the elevator was dirty. I would never stay there again. My son checked out and went some where else.

What I liked the most was the waffle maker, pool, and the bed. What could you a little work was the smell in the hallways and to make sure the staff knows all of the rules. I got charged twice for a room. I also even asked if my other card would be charged due to the fact I paid for a different room. The front desk said no and yet it happened! After all of the head ache and not being able to do anything all weekend due to the fact it wasn't worth the head ache. I should've just drove back home and came out again the next day.

If the hotel had a map of the local area available for guests to familiarize themselves with the area would be helpful for travelers. We had dinner at the Applebee's nearby. Good food and service!

Way to much money for the value of the hotel. These places even with inflation and high coast should never reach these prices it's a super 8 bro 50 to 75 bucks never pay more like I did not worth it ever period.... If people keep paying these stupid prices then they will keep ripping us off just stop go somewhere else anywhere. Got the price I paid for should have been the whole week just one night way overpriced.

Nice clean bedding. Friendly environment. Abundant breakfast choices, one of the best we've experienced in fact, especially for the location. The new carpet was a beautiful surprise. We've stayed at this hotel many times before and are very pleased with the updates, they were very much needed!

Very nice hotel, convenient location for shopping and dining. Perfect to be close to the family we were visiting! The room was comfortable, clean and they were very accommodating with our dog. The swimming pool was a huge hit with our kid.
