Located 18 km from the Iguazú Falls UNESCO World Heritage Site, Puerto Iguazú is an Argentinean town situated near the Brazilian border, in the Province of Misiones. Its compact city centre is packed with restaurants, cafés and shops, while the area is well-known for its red soil and lush vegetation.
The stunning falls comprise 275 individual falls spread over 3 km between Argentina and Brazil. They have a maximum height of 80 metres and a water flow that can be three times superior to that of the Niagara Falls.
The Guaraní natives named the falls ‘iguazú’, meaning ‘big water’. The national park was founded in 1907, and some of the best hotels in Puerto Iguazú are located in the road linking the city centre to the falls. Some hotels on the Argentinean side of the waterfalls offer beautiful views.
The local bus station offers links to several long-distance destinations, including Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires. The city is served by Cataratas del Iguazú International Airport, while the Brazilian Foz do Iguaçu International Airport is 16 km away.
Whether you need a backpacker hostel, a hotel near the airport, or a 5-star resort, don’t miss the Puerto Iguazú deals available on Booking.com!

The water falls are totally amazing , take your time and allow a full whole day for both sides
Did not have the time to go through the town itself.
Booking.com arranged the taxi as part of the deal, this was a problem for me as there was a swap of cars at the boarder that was very worrying , not clear and to be honest i though we was going to something bad to happen. I would suggest you make sure you have a taxi that takes you from door to door. this des work fine as we had a taxi take us direct from the jungle lodge to the airport on our return to home.

Definitely recommend staying at Puerto Iguazú when visiting the waterfalls. I've been to the nearby town in Brasil too (Foz do Iguaçu) and it didn't seem as nice. In Puerto Iguazú you have all you need: a conveniently located bus terminal with many buses (some also cross the border, check the timetable in advance), a launderette, farmacy, nightlife with nice restaurants for any budget.
The only hard thing was cash withdrawal. I solved it by exchanging some of my cash into Argentinian pesos.
You should visit both the Argentinian and Brasilian sides of the waterfalls.
On the Argentinian side, be aware that there's an independent company in the waterfalls park which organises boat trips which need to be booked in advance (if you're interested in a boat trip).
In Brasil, you should also visit Parque Das Aves and the huge Itaipú dam.
Allow ~4 days in total, it will be beautiful!

Amazing bucket list experience!
Amazing bucket list experience! We went later in the day and rode the boat ride that took us practically right next to the falls! Truly awe-inspiring and something that all should experience. Prices are great. Be prepared for the steps down, and then back up!...to and from the boats - it's a bit of a climb. Didn't get to do much else at the park - if there is a next time, we will go earlier to get the full experience!

We came to just see the Iguazu Falls on both Argentina and Brazil side, they were amazing, I would highly recommend visiting, we didn't do much traveling into the town, we stayed at the Gran Melia Hotel and pretty much just hiked the falls

It is a wonderful city, mainly for the falls. I visited the falls for the whole 2 days I was there, and also went to the three frontiers. The city is very safe, except for the mosquitos...use repelent!!!

Very disappointed.
Very disappointed. Spent time and money to get to this part of Argentina to see these falls and we saw very little due to over tourism. It was so crowded you were elbow to elbow, face to face and some times wheel chairs running over your feet so they can get by. It was terrible. What a way to ruin 1 of the 7 wonders.
A hidden treasure at Puerto Iguazú! I feel like staying in a kind of delightful mission, far away from any disturbance, but quite well served by all the amenities of a good guest house. I have loved the chapel, the room and the (superb) bathroom! Very nice and supportive staff!!! I am making plans to go back to a proper personal retreat. Bonus: the accommodation is relatively near the falls, and walkable near downtown and thematic parks and fairs.
Our stay in Si mi captain was fantastic ! Pablo is a devoted person and will do everything to fullfil’ your needs ! He is silly a wonderful person ! The swimming pool was perfect after a day spent at the falls under 40 degrees. It’s a must for us if your start in puerto iguazu! Finally the location is perfect everything feasible by foot ( bus station , restaurants , shops , money exchange , SIM card ) . We recommend so mi captain!
Super place, clean, and comfortable. Although it’s right off the main road, it was quiet and peaceful. The staff was kind, attentive and accommodating. The grounds are lovely…you feel like you are staying in a homey resort rather than in a formal hotel. (There’s a biodiversity center on the grounds!)
About 20 min ride to both the Argentina and Brazil side of the falls.
Would definitely stay here again.
Rober was extremely accommodating. He took all of our transport logistics with ease. His taxi service provided us transport to Iguazu Argentina and Brazil side, also took us to The Triple Frontier, and great restaurants. The hostel has hot water, private bathroom, refrigerator, A/C, and Tv. Bed was good. It's walking distance to the convenient store, La Aripuca, nearby bread store, and restaurant.
Good base for exploring the falls, and very close to restaurants/supermarkets in the town. Overall the hotel is simple but the rooms were clean and the breakfast includes a few different options. Wifi was available in the room, aircon was working, and the hotel staff were helpful in organising taxis for the airport/falls. There is a pool but we didn't have time to use it.
Super nice and helpful host, who also spoke good English (even though she kept apologizing for it), and a very nice, neat, clean and well-equipped place only a short walk away from the centre and from Tres Frontieras
If you want to stay at a nice place in Puerto Iguazú and want to avoid super expensive hotels, look no further, book here, you won't regret it!
This is a beautiful peaceful place to stay just outside of Puerto Iguazu. spacious cabins with comfortable beds, the most gorgeous tropical garden and a really great sized pool. Breakfast was excellent! Taxis are cheap to get into town, otherwise there is a restaurant nearby, or you can order takeout for dinner.
Awesome place! The hosts were some of the most lovely people we’ve met in Argentina. They were so kind, accommodating and helpful. We chatted with them for so long and it really made our whole experience visiting the falls. The breakfast was tasty and the room was comfy, cozy and clean. Highly recommend!
Nice hotel with great and clean room. The tv had also English chanels. It is located near the city center, few blocks away from the bus station. Restaurants and shops are in walking distance. The outside area of the hotel is beautiful. We will definitely stay again here when we visit Puerto Iguazu again.
The spa was most of the time empty, and it was great to be there after a day full of experiences. The pool's temperature is approx 38 degrees.
The team was very nice to us and always tried to assist with every request.
The hotel also has a 1.1km waking path into the jungle, awesome!
This is the most beautiful hotel. The spacious cabins are surrounded by lush vegetation and are comfortably appointed. The family who run the hotel are super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious. The pool is gorgeous too. Our favourite place to stay in Argentina.
Loved the location of this hotel, right by the main freeway that goes into Puerto Iguazú and also to the Brazil border. We were perfectly centrally located for our Iguazú Falls tour excursions. The staff were extremely helpful. Loved the rooms and balcony views too!
Hotel was in a very cool industrial style with exposed steele and concrete. Room was a good size and was comfortable. Breakfast was good quality. The staff were very helpful with the questions we had on getting to the falls etc.
The hotel is nice and in a good location with a perfect rooftop and view with a bar and restaurant upstairs. Also the people who works there. Everyone were really really nice and kind with us! Thank you
I really recommend it
The breakfast was very good. Almost every day they bring the best chipa we ever had!
The hotel is very conveniently located just by the bus terminal in downtown Puerto Iguazú.
The hotel staff is friendly and helpful.
The security of the property and the excellent service from the lovely receptionist. She went above and beyond to help with organising taxis to providing lots of information about Puerto Iguazu and the Iguazu Falls.
Breakfast was nice. Location little away from the city and the restaurants. The owner is a nice and soft person, helps you in all way.
It is not a hotel, bust sort of homestay.
