Set in a charming building facing the Argentino Lake, Mirador del Lago Hotel offers rooms with stylish décor, and breakfast, 984 feet from the city center. The room was incredibly cozy: well decorated, comfortable bed and pillows, and heated to the right point. The showers after a day of walking were a blessing (And the soaps smelled like almond oil)! But I think my favorite part was the breakfast: it was copious and delicious and had the best media lunas. And the staff was absolutely helpful and kind and gave super useful suggestions to us! That was the best stay I had in my trips in years!

Design Suites Calafate, Los Ponchos Hotel, and Terrazas Del Calafate got great room view-related reviews from travelers in El Calafate.
El Calafate is a great base to use to explore Patagonia, was worried we would be bored so only booked 3 nights . Big mistake . Some fantastic restaurants in the town , though they are a bit dearer than Buenos Aires.
Seeing the glacier should be on the bucket list for everyone. It's majestic. From what friend's post, the glacier is receding and may be gone in the near future, who knows. Calafate is a lovely city. Some of the best food we had in Argentina is here (Casimiro Bigua was the best restaurant we had by far). People are friendly and everything is accessible and inexpensive. Definitely worth a trip over.
We came to El Calafate specifically to do the Big Ice trek, and only stayed 48 hours. That ended up being the right amount of time: the town is cute and easily walkable, but there isn’t a lot to do outside of the glacier (which is amazing!) and the Laguna Nimez nature reserve, which is fantastic if you like birds. Almost every restaurant took credit cards. Be warned, if you’re a coffee lover, we couldn’t find a decent cup of coffee anywhere in town. Our favorite meal was at Rancho Aparte, a restaurant inside the home of a Calafate resident named Gabo, who hosts people from around the world. We ate with a group of travelers from Argentina and Paraguay and got to know them - it was a unique and intimate experience.
Calafate is worth visiting at least for a couple of days. We enjoyed the local food and specialties and felt very welcome at stores and food premises as well as at the hotel. There are interesting sites to visit (both in terms of geological as well as biological features/diversity/uniqueness), and it's a great hub to visit the Perito Moreno Glaciers as well as El Chalten. We very much enjoyed our stroll along the "costanera" by the lakeshore. We had the best lamb ever. It was easy to get around by foot in El Calafate and just use local transit services to go to places.
There was a music festival during our stay with great artists and free entry. City has lots of nice restaurants and lots of shopping opportunities. One hour away from the Perito Moreno glacier is a good distance for a visit.
Great food and reasonably priced. Be sure to bring lots of US dollars or euros as the cash Blue rate saves you so much money over using your credit cards. Google it. Best rate is at Western Union but they are not very friendly. They often also run out of money though I don't know how that's possible. Tons of good gift shops downtown and places to eat. Very very windy. The Argentine Lake is spectacular. Did the glacier mini track and though I hate tourist groups, this is actually very well done, very safe, efficient and well organized. They take great care of this precious resource
El Calafate
This property is walking distance to the main street in El Calafate where all the restaurants and shopping are. It was nice to have the room to spread out a bit after sharing hotel rooms for several days. We also enjoyed having the kitchen so we could fix our own christmas dinner and breakfasts. Rosa met us and showed us the apartment and gave us tips for where to eat out. She was very helpful and easy to reach. The apartment and building were very clean.
El Calafate
Excelent value for the price. The location on a hill somewhat outside of town is ideal for the views, especially at dawn. Breakfast is varied and of very good quality. We had dinner once at this hotel; the prices were markedly lower than those downtown El Calafate, but the dishes were excellent and well served.
El Calafate
The hostel overbooked so did not have space for us despite booking 2 months in advance. The receptionist said this is a common problem. Luckily we were moved to their sister hotel and the price was honored so we had a fantastic stay at the hotel for cheap price. However this could have been a disaster for us.
Beautiful view of Lago Argentino from the room. Very friendly staff. Highly recommend working with the hotel concierge to coordinate day trips. Given how tight-knit the El Calafate tourism community is, they're able to streamline the trip planning and coordinate directly with tourism companies.
El Calafate
Great place, close to downtown, in the walking distance to the main street with many restaurants, travel agencies, and shops. We enjoyed time in this pretty house with beautiful view on the Argentina lake. Laura was wonderful and I very helpful. Thank you for holding our luggage !
A pretty and modern hotel right in the centre of El Calafate, near all the shops and restaurants. Everyone at the reception was helpful. The hotel was nicely decorated and it had very good heating.
El Calafate
Good location, about 5 minutes walk from the main street. Calm and clean environment. Responsive host. Next to Hotel Aca, therefore practical for airport transfers.
Not much. The only positive point is the location, near the city center (El Calafate), besides you need to cross a small pedestrian bridge to reach the hotel.
The hotel is very good but Flavio made it extremely exceptional. Outstanding service. Thank you Flavio, you are the best!
El Calafate
Loved our room. Probable the best room we had in a hostel thus far. Almost hotel like. We only stayed one night though
The overall stay is very comfortable. We had the best sleep for the night during the whole trip to Argentina.
