It's authentic. The location is amazing. Views from the old town. Breakfast has traditional treats and warm coffee. The staff was helpful. We had a leak in our room and they were open to move us to a better room or fix the problem. We really enjoyed the view from our room and they were able to fix the problem so we didn't need to change the room.

Ouro Preto is a well-preserved historic site from the 17th century, with several churches from the Baroque period, decorated with elaborate wooden sculptures covered in thin layers of gold. However, the slippery, uneven road surface and steep access roads make travel undesirable for the elderly and people with mobility problems. It is also recommended to be in good shape to face steep streets.

It is a beautiful quaint town with good restaurants, beautiful churches and other points of interest. However, walking was a challenge as it is hilly with cobblestone or rock streets. With tennis shoes, or good walking shoes it is no problem. the people were very friendly and helpful.
We ate one night at Bene de Flat--excellent and the second night at the gastropub.very good and they played great music from the 70's.

Ouro Preto is a city of great historical value.
Ouro Preto is a city of great historical value. I've learned a lot about Brazil's history by a city tour in a "Jardineira". We walked around without any problem. The people are very friendly and good talking. Favorite spot is the "Museu da Inconfidencia" and "Igreja Nossa Senhora do Pillar", the first one built there and covered with gold interior. We visited also a deactivated mine with guidance, the guides explain a lot of the processes for mining gold at XVIII century there. Fun fact: a lot of brasilian slangs have the origin at there and at that time.

It is a very lovely old town with history and it is small. There are a lot of churches to see. The town is on up and down hill and it takes a lot energy to walk in town. It is easy to go to Mariana by local bus, it takes about 20-30 minutes. There are many cars in the town, you should be aware when across the road.

Highly recommend.
Highly recommend. Relaxing, quaint, and full of interesting history. We stayed for 3 days, which was enough time to explore the city in a leisurely way, trying several restaurants, visiting multiple museums and churches, and touring 2 mines -- all without feeling rushed. The city is picturesque, the people are kind, the history is interesting (and sometimes disturbing), and the food is fantastic.
The only caveat: if you have mobility issues (i.e., hip or knee issues, balance problems, etc.), Ouro Preto would be a very challenging destination for you. The streets are STEEP, and mostly uneven or slick cobblestone. One can minimize walking by taking a jeep tour around to some of the key destinations, but it would be difficult to really explore the city without being on foot much of the time. We walked up and down the hills all day, and even as a fairly healthy, fit person, I slipped around a bit on the stones and my knees were a little sore by the end.
Everything. Best breakfast i've ever had at a hostel, and almost the best I've ever had in any hotel. Clei and Fernando are the owners and they're absolutely delightful people that make everything extremely clear to you upon check-in. They live two doors down and are always available when needed. By the time I left, I felt like family.
The beds have coverings and outlets and even little lights. So far beyond any hostel I've seen in Brazil. There are lockers in the dorm rooms.
Bernardo and his sister Annabella welcomed us like if we were family!
They took time to show us the town and helped to find out a restaurant opened on Chistmas Eve.
The breakfast was reinvented every morning to let us try all the traditional food.
All in all, it felt like meeting good old friends!
If you're looking to make the best of Ouro Preto, you have to stay there!
Excellent location close to the centre. Could walk everywhere from here although the streets of Ouro Preto are extremely steep and roads are pebbly so not so easy to stroll around. But that's the charm of the place. Driving around the centre is quite a challenge with all the hills and winding roads. Hotel has lots of character and well kept. Excellent breakfast
Everything, great welcome from Gustavo. Helpful, kind and informative. Breakfast was lovely with fresh baked cakes a highlight. pousada was nicely decorated with a nice garden. parking very secure. location for all the many wonderful sights was top notch. could not have been happier in our two days in Ouro Preto
The view was insane! You could see all of Ouro Preto from the Balcony.
Breakfast was delicious and the beds were super comfortable.
The owner and his son will help you with whatever you need. The son speaks English to assist you.
-The mines are close to that place
General speaking, the Hotel was fine, and the staff was very helpful and friendly. I could park my car into the hotel, and the Hotel was only a few meters far from the main points in the City, The room I got had good space and the bed was very comfy.
The hosts are amazing! The place is really comfortable and looks like a sophisticated old manor. Breakfast is good, a typical MG meal. It is also near to the historical center of Ouro Preto, just behind one of the greatest churches in town.
A beautiful hotel with great service throughout the stay, incl. valet parking.
Excellent Breakfeast. Really good restaurant for dinner as well.
The wife tried the newly started Spa service and enjoyed it alot.
Worth a stay for sure.
We loved the location which was close to everything. The common areas and views were amazing to enjoy Ouro Preto. The property has parking which was very handy and the people working were very helpful and friendly.
Central location, room was clean and good size. Bathroom clean as well. Breakfast was fair. Car park inside the hotel back yard.
Location is not far from the old center.
a nice hotel with beautiful views, restaurant inside , very good breakfast , pool tables , trampoline for kids and more, one of the best hotels that I have stayed
Really clean, friendly staff, good breakfast, very fast WiFi for Brazil hotel standards, good location and nice room with a great view. Can't fault the place.
Very well-located at the heart of the city.
