Theaters and museums are great. Many options of good restaurants. Visit Avenida Paulista, Ibirapuera, Jardins and that side of the city. Stay away from the old side of the city (e.g., Av. São João, Largo do Arouche, Praça da República).
Sao Paulo is surprisingly joyful, clean, safe, exciting and beautiful for the largest city in the whole of the Americas. It's far better organized than most cities, with great green incentives like bikes and mopeds everywhere. Not the most culture dense city, but there's plenty to see if you're into history or art, and the nightlife is diverse and exciting. Visit the center, av Paulista and Augusta, find your niche bar like a graffiti local hangout in Batman, or dine at the beautiful Seen restaurant.
It is a very business oriented city. Lots to see but I didn't find so much to do once my business was concluded . Of course if you don't speak Portuguese like me the theatre is not an option. For full enjoyment of this city...learn Portuguese.
We didn't even explore a fraction of what this widespread city has to offer. We live in NYC so we don't do much tourist things but like to live like the residents. We love the Jardim Paulista neighborhood since it has business and residential accommodations e.g. and abundance of different luncheonettes, supermarkets, restaurants and globally recognized fast food establishments all nearby. We loved that the main street was closed to traffic on Sundays and was very festive with bands and various entertainment types playing. The area is easy to walk (well except for the hills if you don't view walking as exercise). I found it pretty easy to navigate..if I was unsure I do have a book of maps. I love the local foods and shops. I think to visit another city you need to have sense of humor.
Not many touristic attractions to visit. Plus, it was raining everyday too. Some of the places I visited and I liked were: Avenida Paulista, Mercado 25 de Marzo, and Mirante in the Avenida Paulista.
Though I could not explore the city much due to very short visit and mostly occupied with the business but based on what I could see and information I gathered from locals and the internet, it has much to explore

The staff was very nice and friendly. The included breakfast was absolutely great: a variety of fruits, juices, yogurts, bakeries and bread, cheese and home made style cheese, scrambled eggs, sausages, some cooked stew, butter, jelly, tea, hot milk, etc., etc. and on top of all the best coffee I’ve drink in São Paulo. Nice, large room and very comfortable beds, nice bathroom and large shower with outside window ventilation. The A/C runs perfect. Beautiful location and view from swimming pool.

The location is spectacular. Many hotels on Jaú or that area are steep towards Paulista, but Haddock Lobo is a gentler slope, so it's a trivial walk up. There's an Indian restaurant, rare in Brazil, across the street, and dozens within 3 blocks. The Conjunto Nacional gallery is nearby and has a wonderful Cultura bookstore. Rooms were comfortable and spacious and good hot water shower and bath. Breakfast was solid and relaxed.

I like the location and go back to the Hotel Calstar every year I am in Sao Paulo. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The facilities are clean and privacy respected. There are a couple staff members who know English, and even those who don't have patience to help you with your problems and questions. For a smaller hotel is run very professionally.

The hotel location was excellent which is close to República or Anhangabau metro station, rooms were on the large size, great buffet breakfast and staff were very friendly despite my non-existent Brazilian Portuguese but staff made a good attempt at speaking English. Due to hotel location it can be noisy when carnival is in full swing.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is stylish. The breakfast was a good start to the day, with a very traditional Brazilian breakfast. The location was very good, we were walking distance from many interesting restaurants. Also walking distance from a metro station.
