The best thing about the Taura'a is the location in the center of Hanga Roa close to restaurants, markets, the National Park visitor center, ocean-front swimming locations, and walking distance (about 1 mile each way) to Ahu Tahai.
Airport transfers were included (as with most other places in Hanga Roa.)
Toilets can be flushed which is not always the case on the island.
I chose this place because of good reviews and because I wanted to stay at a smaller, more personal place that might be typical of the island. Unfortunately, it didn't suit me very well.
Restaurants I liked: If you are vegetarian or just don't care for ceviche, I recommend Neptune's Island on the waterfront. Friendly people, nice music, shade from the sun, yummy menu with many food options. If you want to see the sunset at Ahu Tahai, it's roughly a one mile walk along the coast to Te Moai Sunset. Also a nice place but more limited menu. When you get to the stone wall, there are gates.
Located a 10-minute walk from Playa Pea, Hotel & Apartments "CHEZ HIVA" offers 3-star accommodations in Hanga Roa and has a garden, a terrace and a restaurant.

CONS:
- Too much of a "money-grab" was our experience.
CONS:
- Too much of a "money-grab" was our experience. Felt like we were looked at like "walking dollars".
- Over-priced EVERYTHING. I know it's a remote island, but seriously!
- Too often, the card machines were "not working", so they wanted cash. We would walk away and return a few minutes later or longer, wait until we see a local use a credit card, and then make our purchase.
- TOO MANY LOOSE DOGS!! Their excrement is everywhere, many are in poor health. One followed us from waterfront to our hotel, and we had to fend off 40+ other dogs (no exaggeration) that got aggressive. We fed and watered this skinny dog, and walked it back to the waterfront area where "it found us" when we went back out in the afternoon.
- Basically two beaches where you can swim - but in reality, one. And it's 18km away from the populated side of the island.
- Many dusty roads driven by aggressive drivers.
PROS:
- The island is beautiful!
- A few nice hikes.
- Moai

There are many great restaurants, especially if you like the fish food!
Those moais are magical and sunrise tour is must!
Some things are very expensive there in Easter Island, example
renting a bike is 25€/24h !
I understand that some things in so isolated place is more expensive, but I think they have cartel in some business. Maybe they all don't understand that even they want to avoid the competition with each other, they will still have that competition with other vacation places. If people think it's too expensive, they go somewhere else.

You need to have interest in the history of the island.
You need to have interest in the history of the island. Showing up for a "resort style vacation" would be the wrong reason to go. We did a lot of homework and it was almost emotional to be there, especially after the island was run into the ground by greed.... You do need a guide to enter the parks. Sunscreen and water is your friend. You can stamp your passport, but not open on weekends.

I read on the internet:-
1. You could buy your ticket (USD80) for the National park at the airport. This is no longer the case. You have to buy your entry ticket in town.
2. Also, you could get your passport stamped with an Easter Island stamp at the post office. This is no longer the case. Go to the tourist information in town (sea front).

Unique island - fascinating history AND current culture.
Unique island - fascinating history AND current culture. We easily spent 22 nights. Not nearly as expensive as on-liine chats imply. We bought fresh and unknown-to-us vegetables and fruit in the market, so ate very well. Saved our pennies to go out for Pisco Sours! Did lots of walking, went on 2 horse back trips, and rented scooters on 2 days.

Rapa Nui is like this dream destination: an island in the middle of nowhere with an extremely interesting history and culture. The island has amazing nature and plenty of sites to visit. A long weekend is ok to see the highlights of the island, but if you want to include water sports then a bit more time has to be added to the trip.
The view, location and value for money were excellent, but if I have to highlight one thing it would be the atmosphere and energy of the place because of the people who work there, you are at home. Jimena, her owner, is someone very special and I learned a lot from her, about the Rapa Nui culture and life in general. Jimena also facilitates a total immersion experience at the most competitive prices with the people she works with; I can highly recommend an island tour with Patricio and a relaxing/healing massage with Jenny.
The appartment/room we had in this hotel had direct view on the Pacific. It was very quit and had perfect beds and pillows. Spacious with enough storage space. It's a short walk to the main appartment were breakfast is served everyday between 8.30 and 10.30. The main host Carmen and her employees take good care of you and bring your food and drinks to your table on the veranda. Eggs are made per your wishes. Mineral water is available to fill your own flasks. In the vicinity are a lot of restaurants and coffee shops.
Very helpful staff, they arranged sightseeing tours, answered questions, etc. Clean room with lots of light, comfortable bed. Daily touch up housekeeping. Location close to town center. Reliable Starlink internet in common areas. Breakfast included pastries, fruit, cheese, cold cuts, cereal. As a solo traveler, I enjoyed meeting hotel guests on the tours, at breakfast, etc., and the hotel setup makes it easy to connect with other travelers. Overall, solid value.
Such a good surprise !
Sincerely this hotel has 4 stars level rooms !
The social area is in a middle of a mini jungle very pretty. Convenient kitchen , barbecue.
The beautiful swimming pool is large enough to swim and to relax .
This is a quiet place and the owners will respect your privacy.
I m very picky , and I really love this place.
The price (about 100US$) is the good one compare to the price of many terrible hostels of the island.
So many things I liked about my stay at Kaimana Inn: pre-arrival communication from Marcelo; efficient airport pickup during arrival; Hanga Roa city tour; accessible lines of communication with Marcelo throughout my stay via WhatsApp; 3-day tour of important sites provided by Marcelo, including Parque Nacional Rapa Nui and lunar eclipse viewing; clean room upon checkin; daily cleaning/tidying up of my room; transportation to my second lodging
Jerome, the owner is really amazing and makes feel all his guests special. We travel a lot and are quite a picky travellers. Kona Koa combines hospitality of family hotel with big hotels stadards. True, there is no aircondition, but I was happy as we always have fight if to switch it on or not :). You are treated as relatives comming to visit your remote family. Get help with all trips, car rental and tips for the town best restaurants.
Family run hotel. Very friendly staff and owner. They offer free pickup and drop-off to airport, which was a huge plus and money saver. Breakfast does not have much variety and was the same everyday, but you are on a remote island. So, cannot expect more.
The owner is also a guide and he arranges guided tours at a very reasonable price.
Location is great and you can walk to restaurants and the coast.
Overall excellent stay.
Wonderful accomodation just 2min walking from the best sunset viewpoint on the island (and the only sunset moai you can access without a guide). Well-equipped kitchen and large refrigerator. Two lovely cats to keep you company on the terrace! Very responsive and friendly hosts who immediately helped us out in case of questions and issues. Would definitely recommend this accomodation as a base for exploring Easter Island!
Rooms, pool, food and staff were excellent. We had an ocean view room with a patio that was very tranquil yet a short walk to town. Even though there were many restaurants in town we chose to eat dinner at the hotel each night because the food was so fresh and delicious. The best part of the hotel though was the friendly and helpful staff. It is a bit pricey but well worth it!
Excellent location! just 3 minutes by car from the airport, also quite close to the coast where you can find good restaurants, the port and some grocery stores. The room is tidy, new, quiet and all equipment are in good status. The hotel owner is also very nice and knows very well of the Island, he was our tour guide also during our short stay on the island.
The place is great to stay! Very close to the sea and have a great view of sunset. Reasonable walking distance to the Main Street. Mihinoa and Patricio is very friendly and welcoming, also recommended many good restaurants and beautiful places to me. Traveling in Easter island is an unforgettable memory to me, I definitely come back again!
Hotel has a great localisation. I was warmly and nicely welcomed (with flower neckles - it was so lovely!), shuttle service from airport was complimentary. Contact with hosts was great and easy: they are very helpful and easy going. Room was clean, with beautiful view and nice facilities. Breafast was modest but fresh and good.
- Location: A beautiful hotel, located in a quiet location, only few minutes driving distance from the main town
- Rooms: Very spacious and clean with full amenities
- Staff: Simply wonderful! Especially the two front desk agents, who were super attentive, ready to assist you anytime in the best possible way
The hotel was great, located not too far from town but close to some of the monuments. The room was comfortable, the staff was helpful, and every morning we had breakfest brought to us where we ate it on our little deck. The hotel added to the wonderful experience of Easter Island.
A combination of accommodation, kindness and a good restaurant made our days happy at the Hare Uta hotel. Special thanks to Gabriela, Bárbara and Evelyn. Just one suggestion: more dish options in the restaurant.
Great breakfast personalized with your name, good internet which was important for me. Great welcome, very friendly staff, very nice Hotel.
Me gusto mucho este hotel, super bien ubicado.
the host are really nice. my original travel agent failed to book tours for me, and they offered me tour with a bit higher price, which saved my trip to Easter Island
