We were there for a wedding and just touring.
We were there for a wedding and just touring. Xi'an was fantastic. I needed to buy a dress for the wedding and my daughter-in-law and her mom took me to an outstanding mall - SAGA. It was so much fun. I was treated like royalty. There is so much to see and do We went to a park that had lotus blooming and you could rent boats and take them around the lake. Of course, we visited Goose Tower, Bell Tower and Drum Tower, Shaanxi History Museum, the Terracotta Warriors and Huashan Mountain. We also saw the City Wall in the evening and it was spectacular. The food of Xi'an is so fresh and delicious. The people are so kind and helpful. The subway is spotless and so inexpensive. DiDis are plentiful as well.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

We were able to enjoy visiting the Terracotta Warriors without the crowds, as our Tour Guide made the call to start an hour earlier which meant we were at the entry gate at opening time 8:30am, plus we enjoyed delicious local food at a very good restaurant before going off to walk the Xi'an City Wall. The Terracotta Warriors was definitely worth going to. Very interesting. Make sure you get a tour guide at the location rather than through Trip.com. The local guides there work for the museum and our guide was fantastic in her knowledge. Made navigating the many sites a breeze as well. Xi'an is one of the great places to visit.
Xi'an is one of the great places to visit. It was the centre of an empire for over a thousand years, so there is a lot to see. Please try to see the 6,500-year-old Neolithic village less than 10km outside the city wall. Those who are perceptive will notice that the area was much warmer and wetter than it is today. Today's colder winters mean the bamboo rats that were part of the diet are no longer available. Colder means drier, so the river deer that used to be another food source are no longer around. The Muslim Quarter is a must-visit. Go after dusk and sample the food. While you are in the area, see the Bell and Drum Tower, but make sure that you see the Great Mosque during the day. Walk on top of the city wall and check the small market areas scattered inside the city wall areas. The food is excellent, so sample the many different types of offerings. Get a good pair of walking shoes and keep moving. There are too many things to see in one trip but you can afford to miss a few and get them next time. Visitors will probably enjoy the Tang Paradise theme park near the Big Goose Pagoda. It's like Disneyland without the rides. If you have kids, rent them Tang Dynasty costumes at one of the many rental places, grab the camera, and walk around. It is enjoyable to see people honouring their history and culture as the Chinese do. But it is more than that. Look around and see little kids live-streaming the laser and fountain stores to their grandparents in villages far from the city. There is something phenomenal about watching a five-year-old girl in a Tang Dynasty-era dress having a video call with a grandmother who could not imagine owning a telephone two decades ago. Walk in the park and see the various social clubs that offer ethnic dancing, Tai Chi, and other activities. Interact with the locals as you try to understand how they live and think. China is a great country, and Xi'an is one of its great cities.Guest review byVangel
