El desayuno estaba muy bien y la piscina riquísima
There is no reason to go to Liberia. It’s a transit point: to lovely beaches to the west; mountains and jungle to the east; and the Nica border to the north. That being said, the Chinese restaurant & the Indian restaurant (Masala) in the center of town were both very tasty! The international airport, which is close by brings in tourists traveling in the north of Costa Rica.

The streets are not marked so you can have a hell of a time finding your hotel if it is relatively small or unknown. It is close to a market where you can have breakfast. it is convenient to the airport.

We had to go all the way downtown for a bank machine.
We had to go all the way downtown for a bank machine. Information, such as bus scheduling was non existant at the station. You had to find someone who was familiar with the buses. There's not a lot of reason to stay in Liberia. It's more of a "stop off" due to the airport. Most eating places are downtown. There's not a great selection outside the core. Liberia is not a tourist friendly city.

Liberia is a good place to start traveling around Guanacaste...
Liberia is a good place to start traveling around Guanacaste and the Pacific northwest of Costa Rica..A good place to arrive as the airport is not as busy as San Jose. There are stores, including a large Walmart where you can get supplies. But I would not stay in the city except for 1 night when flying.

Liberia isn't a tourist town.
Liberia isn't a tourist town. It does allow you to see real Costa Rican life - which is the best part of travel. We walked all over town and always felt safe. It is also better to stay here than further north because you can catch tours that pick up travelers in Liberia.

I really enjoy Liberia.
I really enjoy Liberia. The downtown area by the park has lots of shopping. I went into a pharmacy and they had a free dr. who quickly diagnosed my problem and prescribed a medication that worked very well. There is a family run laundry with a half day turnaround. I really enjoyed a restaurant where the ceasar salad was made in front of you. It is two blocks from the main intersection on the right hand side of the road.
What would be very useful is a map of the city. We asked locals for directions and they were very helpful in directing us to what we needed.
The staff and energy of the place made me feel safe and at home. The staff had great recommendations on how to get around, were diligent to pick me up from the airport and were always available to assist.
The outside kitchen in the back was equipped with what you needed to cook. The rocking chairs and hammocks placed throughout were very comfortable and all the plants and trees were beautiful.
It was a very convenient distance, everything in Liberia was very walkable from the hostel.
Spent one night at this Hotel before flying out of Liberia. Large outdoor/garden areas which are well kept. Rooms seem to have new furnishing, beds were comfy and we had a really good sleep. We were able to use the pool after check out, had a nice lunch and a few drinks at the restaurant before heading to the Airport. This made our last day really enjoyable and relaxed. Friendly service and good food. Would book again!
We hiked to all of the waterfalls and visited the hot springs and mud baths. There were many other more adventurous activities available too. Was a beautiful few days away from the beach and very conveniently locate less than an hour from Liberia Airport.
We ate at all of the restaurants. The service and food was very good. Excellent choices for vegetarians and some vegan options too.
This is a quiet hotel that is very low key even though it isn’t far from the main highway. The restaurant is basic but adequate. We used the hotel as a transition spot when arriving and leaving Costa Rica. We didn’t want to be too close to the airport or the bustle of downtown Liberia. Inexpensive, nice pool and grounds.
Clean, good wifi, AC works great, near the airport, safe! Completely enclosed area shared with one other unit (2 story duplexes connected by private laundry), nice garden, secure private parking. The hosts live across the way (culdesac, so private!) And are super nice, helpful... We will stay here whenever we can!
Great hotel in Liberia. Location is convenient from airport and allows easy access to bus stations. Close to to downtown where there are plenty of restaurant and shops. AC rooms were comfortable. Lovely having a pool to use. Great Wifi, helpful staff and yummy breakfast! Will definitely book again when in the area!
Very modern and clean hotel, close to the airport and away from the craziness of town. We didn't want to drive in the dark as our flight arrived in the afternoon so we picked this hotel and will definitely stay here again. Really good ice cream place, brewery and sandwich shop within walking distance.
Very friendly owners. Made my friend and I feel very welcome. They helped us with all our requests and went above and beyond to make us feel at home. It was a few minute was to the supermarkets and 10min drive to the Liberia airport. There was no air conditioning but our room had two fans. Thanks
Hotel del Rio is a small, family owned hotel/motel. it was great for our use for an overnight to get to the Liberia Airport early the next morning. It is in a nice residential area but not near the town center or any restaurants or shopping. There is a small, friendly cafe on site.
Close to the airport, very secure parking and clean. Rooms are dated but very clean and ac and shower worked great. Staff were friendly and spoke good English. Breakfast was average. Would definitely recommend as a spot for staying to fly in or out of Liberia.
Only about a 5 min drive from the airport. The hotel does offer a shuttle service which they charge $10 for, but were ready to go whenever you wanted. The staff were also friendly. The AC worked very well.
New modern hotel with good amenities and a great breakfast with a lot of options on a well attended buffet. The room was clean and comfortable. The location close to the airport is ideal.
I loved practically everything about this hotel, but the best part was the owner. She picked me up at the airport was friendly, and ran her business like it was a Family.
clean. location great and they provide an airport shuttle every 15 minutes, and it was on time.
food is decent at the restaurant. good choice for airport hotel!
