New Helvetia Hotel, hotel in Platres

Hosted in an 1929 stone building, New Helvetia Hotel is one of the oldest hotels in Cyprus, ran by the 4th generation of owners and offers free WiFi, and on-site fitness facilities.

I really loved the atmosphere in this hotel. It was opened in 1929 and has a lot of character. The location is fantastic for exploring the nearby hiking trails. My kids loved sleeping upstairs in the room under the sky light. We would definitely stay again if returning to the troodos region.

POED Residences, hotel in Platres

POED Residences in Platres provides accommodations with a rooftop pool and a garden. There's a private entrance at the condo hotel for the convenience of those who stay.

The place is like a forest resort escape, we stayed for one night, the beds are comfortable and the location is very quiet. The weather was cold and rainy but the two floors were nice and warm. Not much to do, just relax and enjoy nature. We didnt take breakfast, but there is a full functioning kitchen that you can use. If you're staying longer, you might want to equip yourself for some grocery, the closest (good) supermarket is AlphaMega is 10Km away. We stayed in early April, there is very little activity to do in the village, it sleeps early, which was not a problem for us.

Platres Village in winter is a magical escape that exceeded my expectations. The charming streets adorned with snow create a picturesque scene straight out of a fairytale. The cozy cafes and traditional taverns offer warm respite from the cold, serving up delicious local cuisine and hot beverages that warm the soul. The surrounding Troodos Mountains provide the perfect backdrop for winter adventures, with opportunities for skiing, snowboarding, and scenic hikes through snow-covered trails. Whether you're seeking relaxation or outdoor thrills, Platres Village in winter promises an unforgettable experience filled with warmth and wonder.

The hotel is rated 4 star and I would say it is getting the 4 star on facilities . It is very tired and in need of serious maintenance and upliftment . In its heyday of 1950 it probably was fantastic . Compared to other 4 star hotels it is falling behind standards. But it has a wonderful location

Platres is a lovely moiuntain village with a good mix of restaurants, bars and relaxtion points, Great for starting mountain walks or just kicking back in the village, We would also highly recommend the chocolate workshop experience at Cyprus Chocolates. Educational and informative with a passionate host in Eugene. You get to try all different kinds of chocolates and there's no obligation to buy. Though I'm defy anyone to leave without picking up a little treat. :)

Deep woods. Very cool temperature - chilly at night. Nightingales in May-June. Small waterfalls, very nice walks through the woods. Lavender activities. Beautiful early XXth century architecture, typical only in Platres. Red bricks, turrets and pinnacles. Nice tavernas. Nice small kids playground in the village centre. Perfect for a quiet, cosy trip.

A wonderful and cozy cottage. We were delighted with its compactness. Well-equipped kitchen, comfortable shower. We only missed towel racks in the bathroom. The beds were comfortable. Really great cottages. Very nice area. There's a bunch of cats on the resort who are fond of treats – luckily we had a supply of treats for the cats. There are a lot of stray cats in Cyprus, so it's worth stocking up on cat snacks from Lidl.

The hotel provided an extra bed and a mini-fridge for our daughter, which was very helpful. The check-in and check-out process was very quick and easy. The breakfast and dinner buffets were both excellent. There was a wide variety of options to choose from, and the food was fresh and tasty. The hotel is located in the heart of Platres, but in a quiet area.

Very good location, close to the main road of the village, but at the same time above it so it was quiet and ambient in the evenings and mornings. The hotel is one of the first ones in Cyprus, so it felt like traveling in time - decor furniture - everything reminds you of that Cyprus hospitality. The director Mr Giorgos was great.

Amaizing nature around the hotel and lovely view. Interesting interiors. Helpful stuff. Absolutely serene atmosphere before weekend but a little noisy during the weekend. The beginning of September is a must time to visit that hotel if you are looking for the place to have a rest from heat and hustle.

The family that owned the inn was excellent. They were all so kind. I loved the breakfast and the location. My room was perfect. This was a safe place for solo female travelers. And there was close access to public transportation, as I did not rent a car while in Cyprus. Great hiking nearby.

I liked all of it. We came on Monday the quietest day of the week. Stayed until Tuesday. If possible we would have stayed longer. Get away from the beach and have a look on Cyprus. It is a lot more then Limassol and Larnaca.
