Mataro is a fantastic beach town any time of the year. I would highly recommend a restaurant called Dem Dik. It is very close to the train station and Ousmane, the chef and owner, is fantastic. His good is great - super flavorful- and he attracts an interesting mix of people from all over. Fun snd laid back place for all ages:

It is a small city nearby the Barcelona or Sant Pol de Mar.
The city center is nice, full of restaurants. I miss the street food a little bit.
The life starts here around 7 AM.
The city is full of playgrounds, it is good for families with children. We appreciate that.
Beaches are beautiful and empty. Not so many tourists here as in Barcelona.
Peaceful city.
Also there is a swimming pool in the city with the small one for the little ones.

expect a siesta! :-) from approx. 2 to 7:00 p.m., almost all restaurants and shops are closed. Life here starts around 19:00. It was more difficult with small children, when they go to bed at 8 in the evening and are used to having dinner at 5:30 pm ;)
But the city center is very nice, food is super tasty.
Communication is mainly in Spanish.

Lovely area just outside of BCN, access to BCN is easy via a 40min bus OR 35min train journey. Train station in Mataro with the train running up and down the coast.
Plenty of places to eat/drink on and off the beach. Not man shops, mostly boutiques however there is a large shopping mall 1hr walk (nice easy walk) OR a easy bus journey. This is my second visit here with work & I enjoy the area. Plenty of breakfast/coffee shops & places to work. Lovely long walk along the beach on a nice path

Mataro is one of those little towns, through Mediterraneo, its access from and to the airport from R1 - transferred to R2 you can do it in a good time planned and reliable when you need to catch a plane in Terminal One. The access to check-in is straight to terminal 2 need an internal bus to T1. Mataro is a lovely town a good place to eat and shop and easy to connect to Barcelona, In all, a good place to visit.
The property is excellently situated for the old part of Mataró with all its shops and restaurants . The proximity to the beach and railway station make it a perfect place to stay (approximately a 10 minute walk to both ).
The whole apartment is spotless and extremely well equipped with everything you need (including adequate utensils for cooking).
The host went over and above our expectations providing great advice re:travel and restaurants etc.
2* hotel, but looks like 4*. I was impressed by the big rooms, very comfortable bed, big hall at the entrance, great location close to the sea, futuristic design, very clean and amazing helpful staff. The breakfast was basic, but good quality. They have a parking lot underground, which costs 7 euro a day, but if you park in the city it's much more. I was happy that the car was safe there. Amazing value for money.
The place is spacious, has 2 bedrooms, each with its own toilet, and a nice private garden to chill out. It is 5min from Mataro train station - which can easily take you to Barcelona, or wherever you want to go.
What I really liked was that it was clean. It had strong WiFi, and we could do some work while staying there.
This is the second time that we stayed at this hotel for summer holidays. We loved that it is near the beach, but also has a great swimming pool as well. Building is pretty recent and confortable, air conditioning is really a pleasure. Rooms with balcony are very appreciated.
This small hotel is walking distance to a very nice sandy beach. The room was small but had a nice balcony overlooking the city and was clean. The breakfast was wonderful with a very nice seating area. We also had dinner there and enjoyed that experience.
Lovely apartment on one of Mataro's main shopping streets. Felt pedestrianised although there was some traffic. Short walk to great beach and easy access by train/bus to and from Barcelona.
Location is very good, just few step from the train station (R1) to Barcelona. There are several restaurants around, nice beaches. Hotel offers everything you need for few days stay. .
Very original idea. A new type of B&B.
So different to wake up in the port and not in a normal Hotel.
So relaxing to sleep in the slightly swinging boat in the silence of the harbor.
This was a nice apartment at a good place in Mataro. It had everything that you needed for a family, well-equipped kitchen, bathroom, towels, parasol, shower cream, air conditioning.
It did us nicely for a week in mataro. Plenty of room for 3 of us to work from there - good WiFi! In terms of location you probably couldn't ask for anything better in the town.
Excellent Location! In the center of Mataro. Above one of the best pastry shops in Mataro. We did not rent a car and could walk to everything in Mataro.
