Surrounded by the sandy Costa Blanca beaches and the crystalline waters of the Mediterranean Sea, Alicante has a rich heritage built over thousands of years. Alacant (as it's known in Valencian) has a deep history ranging from the first tribes that arrived at the slopes of Mount Benacantil to Greeks, Romans and Moors. Nowadays, this modern city features a bustling harbor, great Spanish nightlife, charming old streets and modern beach resorts.
Overlooking the city from the top of Mount Benacantil, the Castle of Santa Barbara was built during Islamic rule in the 9th century. Cascading down the slopes towards the center of the city, L'Ereta Park has terraced levels that offer stunning panoramic views of the city. The remains of the ancient Roman town of Lucentum are also just a few miles away.
Barrio de la Santa Cruz is the historic quarter, featuring narrow streets, old houses and cobbled steps. Framed by palm trees and covered with a snaking pattern of white, red and blue tiles, the Explanada de Espana is considered one of Spain’s most beautiful promenades.
After arriving at Alicante Airport, indulge yourself in a resort near San Juan beach, or enjoy the view of luxurious yachts moored at the marina from a cozy B&B: Booking.com has the perfect spot for you to discover the magic of Alicante!

I really enjoyed Alicante.
I really enjoyed Alicante. It was authentically Spanish and multicultural with many Moroccan and Algerian cafes and restaurants in the urban area in which I stayed.
The Esplanade is a very attractive area with good tree cover providing shade on the promenade. There are some lovely boutiques and clothes shops in the centre. I loved the Mercado, with its fish and meat markets and the MOBAG art gallery was showing a fantastic exhibition of drawings by Salvidor Dali.
Prices for meals and drinks are very reasonable.
I felt very safe as a solo female traveller and had no issues whatsoever.
I used the bus service and the tram-train regularly and was really impressed with their efficiency and regularity. I was also impressed by the traffic flow in the city and the suburbs. there were no traffic jams, no speeding and all drivers drove carefully, whether in cars, motorbikes, or indeed e-scooters (which are allowed on the roads).
The population look happy and content and seems to have a balanced lifestyle. I shall return.

First visit for my mother who is 86.
First visit for my mother who is 86. She loved the city and with the lift to Castillo Santa Barbara and the well laid out paths to Castillo San Fernando she was able to enjoy most of the main sites. A first visit to MUBAG for us both.....wonderful space. The Metro was accesible and comfortable so we enjoyed a trip to Villajoyosa and the Valor chocolate museum - again the facilities there meant the tour was fully accessible.
Loved El Parque Palmeral, although because of road works, finding a working bus stop to get back was a bit of a challenge, which was overcome with the help of some lovely local people.

Initially I found it hard to navigate my way around the city as it is vast, with SO many little side streets, avenues & larger shopping areas. I didn't have mobile data so had no access to maps or translation apps unless I was back at my hotel (using the free wifi) so in future I wouldn't be so stubborn by refusing to pay the data roaming fees :) It would have made my life so much easier. That said, by getting lost & exploring, I discovered streets & places that I probably wouldn't have otherwise so it just added to the adventure! Weather: 10/10. Scenery: 10/10. Once I got my bearings I was able to really enjoy myself & would definitely go back again!

I recently stayed at the La Lonja Hotel in Alicante, Spain and I was very impressed/shocked that The hotel was very clean and well-maintained. The staff was super friendly and helpful and the rooms were comfortable. The breakfast looks delicious but I had only drank a cup of coffee, anyway there was a great selection. The location was great for sightseeing and exploring the city. The hotel also provides complimentary Wi-Fi.I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a wonderful stay in Alicante.
We decided to stay here for Semana Santa and found our accommodations to be clean and comfortable. We were treated with excellent service and weren't far from the Alicante city center. We ended up renting a bike and would recommend a rental of some kind for addeded freedom, though there's a bus stop in front of the hotel and you can walk all the way on the sidewalk if the weather permits. Check out La Palmeral Park if you get the chance! I highly recommend this hotel for its affordability and location.
We spend this summer roadtripping through Spain and this was the best accomodation we stayed during our trip!
It is a beautifully renovated old house with patio just oustide the city center of Alicante. We stayed in a studio and it had everything we needed for a short stay. The studio we stayed looked also just renovated and was very modern, clean and crisp! The owner also called when we arrived and was very helpfull with guiding us into the house. We definitely recommend this place!
Hotel is located outside the city centre - 50 min walk - but has no. 23 bus service immediately outside which makes travel to/from the city very convenient. It is also a 20 min walk or 6-7 min bus ride to the nearest tram station and 20 min walk to Albuferta beach. Lovely informed staff. Very clean and rooms serviced daily. Pool and sun bathing area are good. Did not use restaurant but looked busy with good breakfast and dinner buffets.
This place is excellent both if you want to explore the historic center of the city and if you want to relax on the beach. The majority of museums and main sightseeing places are within comfortable walking distance.
The staff is very helpful and kind. Rooms are cleaned every day. Very delicious breakfast is served. Great variety of Nespresso coffee is available. The rooftop swimming pool and bar area are free to use whenever you wish.
Hotel Smile is an easy walk to the beach, the promenade, and the entire old/historic area of Alicante. Combine that easy access with comfortable, clean accommodations and it’s already a great spot. But the best part of Hotel Smile is the hospitality! Cristian was an incredibly gracious and welcoming host. And he gives excellent recommendations for food and activities around the city. I’m looking forward to visiting again.
The property looks really nice, it’s unique and it’s clean. The hotel was very good located. There was nice places to eat and drink.
The staff was incredible friendly, funny and I really feel super comfortable. It was really hot in Alicante, and they always gave us some cold water before we left the hotel.
I can totally recommend the hotel for the stay in Alicante.
The property was conveniently positioned for the tram into the city and the beach was aprx 500m away. The local restaurants are great, try Bruto for Italian, Lorea restaurant on the beach front was great. Please Rembrr this area is real Spain so be patient if the don’t understand you at first, use translate or learn a little Spanish before hand. Enjoy !
The staff was polite and helpful, and that is very important to us. Although the hotel is located in the centre, there is no noise coming from outside (we could therefore enjoy sleeping without destructions). The room has plenty of space and the facilities are quite new. We definitely recommend La City Mercado for your stay in Alicante.
Excellent view: The best view on the Alicante City with the premium room, Breath taking. Location excellent: close to the city centre, to the beach, shop and tram. Room: very comfortable, spacious, clean, very good aircon, clean, comfortable beds. I cannot say more, very good wifi.
Our favourite hotel in Alicante. Large comfortable bedrooms with a sofa seating area. Exceptional breakfast and such lovely helpful staff. An absolute bonus in a city was the onsite parking at just 10 € a day. We'll be going there very soon for a mini break.
The room was excellent, clean and cozy. We also liked the bathroom and amenities. TV was working well, it even had at least one english channel, which I found to be quite rare in Spain. Breakfast was reasonably diverse for the small kitchen area it had.
Its a family driven hotel. Not a star rated hotel. But a wonderful, wonderful place to stay with your family. The owner, Christian, took care of us as family friend, He made our stay in Alicante very comfortable!
The entire staff was exceptional. Very friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable. The location is perfect. Close to the beach, bus stops. I would highly recommend the hotel to anyone going to Alicante.
very clean apt , tram to Benidorm or Alicante center across street! Owner very prompt and helpful for check in. Beach a few ft away. Best stay so far in my 30 days in Spain. This is my 5th apt stay.
A 3 star hotel with 5 star service, rooms super comfortable with balcony, nice breakfast included, wi-fi very good in all the hotel, good size pool, near everything in this area of Alicante.
