FAQs about hotels in Alicante

A 7,000 Year Old Mediterranean Jewel

Surrounded by the sandy Costa Blanca beaches and the crystalline waters of the Mediterranean Sea, Alicante has a rich heritage built over thousands of years. Alacant (as it's known in Valencian) has a deep history ranging from the first tribes that arrived at the slopes of Mount Benacantil to Greeks, Romans and Moors. Nowadays, this modern city features a bustling harbor, great Spanish nightlife, charming old streets and modern beach resorts.

Overlooking the city from the top of Mount Benacantil, the Castle of Santa Barbara was built during Islamic rule in the 9th century. Cascading down the slopes towards the center of the city, L'Ereta Park has terraced levels that offer stunning panoramic views of the city. The remains of the ancient Roman town of Lucentum are also just a few miles away.

Barrio de la Santa Cruz is the historic quarter, featuring narrow streets, old houses and cobbled steps. Framed by palm trees and covered with a snaking pattern of white, red and blue tiles, the Explanada de Espana is considered one of Spain’s most beautiful promenades.

After arriving at Alicante Airport, indulge yourself in a resort near San Juan beach, or enjoy the view of luxurious yachts moored at the marina from a cozy B&B: Booking.com has the perfect spot for you to discover the magic of Alicante!

Alicante is a busy bustling city with mixture of the old town and the newer main shopping area. It is not a large city that is over whelming. You feel safe both day and night. There is lots to see walking around the town and an adventure to find where each turn takes you. The public transport is easy to use, the C6 bus from the airport take you straight to the marina which is an easy place to start your exploration. The tram system is clean and easy to use and amazing value for money with a Travel card taking you to near and far neighbouring towns.

Definitely a hotel that caters to Spanish guests - the wait staff did not speak much English - I don’t speak much Spanish so a bit challenging. They don’t engage for that reason so appear a little unwelcoming which is not really the case. It is also obvious that the staff need training. Front desk staff are the best trained - all others we encountered need some service training.

Alicante is a great Spanish city that is not too full

Alicante is a great Spanish city that is not too full of tourists. It retains its Spanish character whilst also being cosmopolitan with excellent restaurant choices to suit all budgets, a beautiful beach and friendly locals. It’s a great place to visit for up to a week.

The weather was perfect in August, the old city was beautiful but it can be a long walk depending on where you're going. The Postiguet beach gets very crowded and the day we went there was seaweed everywhere, so I recommend going to other beaches instead. We particularly loved the San Juan beach.

The city has so much to offer regarding good quality bars and restaurants. The city is very clean and feels very safe to walk around during the day and night. Night-life is excellent. Ate at many of the outdoor restaurants. Visited Samoa outdoor bar for fantastic vibes, music and cocktails. Also the bars and restaurants around Portal de Elche were beautiful and food was excellent in particular Santagloria bakery, Manero restaurant, Soho bar and the super cool 26 Cocktail Room. Transport within the city is cheap and reliable. The city is easy navigable and has so many picturesque elements. None more so than the Passeig Esplananda. Postiguet Beach is cleans and lovely. Our highlight of our holiday was visiting Altea for the day. We took the tram via Benidorm. Altea is an absolute gem of a town, such a beautiful place to visit. A truly must not miss place to visit.

We loved Alicante centre, the lovely port, beautiful buildings, beach and plenty of bars and restaurants around every corner. There were plenty of taxis if you were staying further out from the centre and the trams which took you to other resorts along the coast (cheap fares). We would recommend you go early to catch the trams as they soon fill up and don’t wait for the last one to return as you might not be able to get on it! We visited Denia, furthest place along the coast although it was lovely it was a long way to go in a day! Benidorm was far too busy in August, La Compestello was well worth a visit as was La Villa Joiosa but would recommend getting off at Crueta as it’s nearer to walk to front. (steep hill!) lovely promenade on front, nice beach and plenty of bars/restaurants and beautiful colourful houses in fishing village. We went in July for our daughter’s wedding but I wouldn’t recommend this time of year because it was far too hot for visiting places and walking about and everywhere was busy.

Location better if you reach Alicante with car although still possible to take public transport or even to walk to the city centre (although not every day). Parking of car is very easy, for free and in hotel areal. Staff is nice and helping if you need.
