Surrounded by the sandy Costa Blanca beaches and the crystalline waters of the Mediterranean Sea, Alicante has a rich heritage built over thousands of years. Alacant (as it's known in Valencian) has a deep history ranging from the first tribes that arrived at the slopes of Mount Benacantil to Greeks, Romans and Moors. Nowadays, this modern city features a bustling harbor, great Spanish nightlife, charming old streets and modern beach resorts.
Overlooking the city from the top of Mount Benacantil, the Castle of Santa Barbara was built during Islamic rule in the 9th century. Cascading down the slopes towards the center of the city, L'Ereta Park has terraced levels that offer stunning panoramic views of the city. The remains of the ancient Roman town of Lucentum are also just a few miles away.
Barrio de la Santa Cruz is the historic quarter, featuring narrow streets, old houses and cobbled steps. Framed by palm trees and covered with a snaking pattern of white, red and blue tiles, the Explanada de Espana is considered one of Spain’s most beautiful promenades.
After arriving at Alicante Airport, indulge yourself in a resort near San Juan beach, or enjoy the view of luxurious yachts moored at the marina from a cozy B&B: Booking.com has the perfect spot for you to discover the magic of Alicante!
Lovely city. Old town very compact with great restaurants and a nice buzz about the place. The beach is lovely with nice beach restaurants and bars dotted along that were reasonably priced.
Easy to get to/from airport by bus.

Lovely city close to the beach and marina.
Lovely city close to the beach and marina. Tourist attractions such as Santa Barbara Castle and The Ocean Race were free.
The Castle is well worth visiting, with wonderful views of the city and sea. I was disappointed that the toilets were filthy and lacking basic amenities such as toilet paper and hand dryer. There's a fee of €2.70 for the lift. However, I would have preferred to pay a small entrance fee and have clean toilets. There's a nice cafe at the top with great staff.
I would not recommend Alicante for solo travellers. It's very couple or groups orientated and the staff in restaurants are not friendly for lone travellers.
I also found food and drink prices very expensive.

Alicante is a lovely city and you even have a decent beach so it really is the best of both worlds. Good tram system. 45 mins to Benidorm and also 2.5 hours to Valencia for any other day trips outside of Alicante.

A city full of history with many interesting places to visits.I recommend the two Arts Museums and a visit to Santa Barbara Castle for the views.La Esplanada is great for a stroll and a drink at night.I ate out every day in a different restaurant and found the food choices varied and good and reasonably priced,I usually eat Spanish food on holiday but also had dinner in a Moroccan restaurant which was excellent. There is a wide variety of other types of meals available to suit all tastes.Used the C6 bus from and to the Airport. It runs regularly(I caught one at 6am to the airport)and costs 2.80 euros although as a pensioner I only paid 1 euro. The only thing I would warn about are the pavements. They are quite uneven in some places especially the older streets and I nearly took a fall.A lady passing warned me to keep an eye on where I was walking and I followed her advice safely for the rest of my visit.

My 2nd night there I was jumped by 2 black males.
My 2nd night there I was jumped by 2 black males. My phone was stole and left very shaken. The police were absolutely useless. No help what so ever. My phone had all my details on it and was very important to me. I was able to supply the IMEI No. To trace it but Police said NO we don't trace But if we find it we will contact you.. Sat in the Police station for ½day for no reason. Very dissapointed..
Other than that, the town itself is absolutely beautiful, very well priced, stunning views e.t.c , my horrendous start to the holiday wouldn't stop me going back but I definitely will be taking better precautions.

Alicante is a compact town, but it has all you need for a comfortable stay. One of the most beautiful marine promenade, sandy beach, great food, lots of bars and shops, friendly locals. Add the sun, the historical architecture and the unique landscape of the place and enjoy!
We decided to stay here for Semana Santa and found our accommodations to be clean and comfortable. We were treated with excellent service and weren't far from the Alicante city center. We ended up renting a bike and would recommend a rental of some kind for addeded freedom, though there's a bus stop in front of the hotel and you can walk all the way on the sidewalk if the weather permits. Check out La Palmeral Park if you get the chance! I highly recommend this hotel for its affordability and location.
A great surprise! I was travelling around the Valencia area and stayed in 5 hotels the 10 days I was in Spain., all highly rated, up to 4 star. This was the best room I had the entire stay, and at the best price. It was clean, spacious, with a big window, very comfortable bed and a great shower. The woman who was working was very friendly and extremely helpful. The location is perfect, a short walk to the beach, restaurants and the bus station. I will definitely book a room there again.
Casa Samara is nicely located in a popular area in the inner city of Alicante, just a 15 min. walk away from the city center. The house is cosy with a very bright interior (most furniture is white). A water boiler allows you to have coffee or tea all the time; food can be stored in the fridge. The rooms contain everything necessary, the bathroom is very clean with a touch of luxury. All this made it a perfect stay for us to explore Alicante.
Good modern hotel with comfortable beds and great location!
If you are coming to Alicante by car you can park it in Parking Plaça Sant Cristòfol (2 min walk) with whom the hotel has a price agreement. The receptionist will stamp your parking ticket and you can then pay with a little discount at the parking itself.
PS: I really recommend you to have your breakfast at Sip and Wonder Coffee House! About a 5 min walk from the hotel.
Great breakfast, many options. I wished there were more plant based protein options, such as beans. There was beans one day out of ten, I ate alot! Speaking of which, i really like the variety in the breakfast buffet. They switch it up.
The location of the hotel in perfect in Alicante, close to the beach, and close to trams and buses that take you downtown. I prefer good air quality, so living in the city centre isnt for me.
Both gentlemen at the front desk were cheerful, welcoming and helpful with directions. This urban hotel is an older building with character. We were only 3 floors above city traffic but the street is narrow and not overly noisy. I have discovered that beds in Spanish hotels are not as comfortable as in the US or UK. They ranged from extra firm to hard. but this one was second best of the 6 hotels we stayed in Spain.
We were traveling in the low season, so we had a chance to book the hotel cheaper. For this price, the hotel was on top. The best part of the hotel is the staff. Guys, you're the best! Thank you so much for your hospitality and help.
The staff will recommend all the places you must see, even a guide is no longer needed.
Our trip was a pleasant reboot. Thank you very much for such a great memory of Spain.
The owner imposes the installation of an App that collects the customer's document plus a selfie to give access to the apartment; to activate their App you must activate bluetooth and location services; location services can be switched off, after.
The data collected by their mandatory mobile App exceeds Police requirements; in Spain no hotel takes "selfies" of customers.
It's a good location if you want to stay Away from tge Central area due to noise and crowded, it is almost in the middle of alicante airport and city with 7 kilometers each side. Hotel is sitting on the banks of sea but you can only see it as the sea side is protected by netwirs. When you check in ask for rooms facing tge sea for better view.
Room in terms of bed, view, bathroom was okay. Went with another couple on a city trip. After a day of walking and site seeing wanted to take a good shower. After 2 or 3 minutes water went from hot to cold. This hapened twice. Mentioned this to reception but no improvement. This needs to be fixed in order to get a good experience in your hotel.
Friendly staff who speak decent English, something which is rare in Spain.
Location is also fine, close to both the beach and the city center. The tourist information is just around the corner, which is also convenient.
The breakfast was also nice, a lot of choice and good quality of food.
An excellent hotel in the centre of Alicante. The hotel is well run with exceptional friendly staff. The roof bar was fabulous and the breakfasts very good. The hotel even made us a breakfast box as we were leaving early on our last day. This is the best hotel we have stayed in for long time
Cristian said 'this isn't a 5 star hotel', well it felt like it! From the warmest of welcomes, the superb advice and recommendations, a lovely, clean, bright room and the best breakfast! We had a wonderful stay and would recommend to anyone wishing to stay in Alicante! Bravo Cristian!
Excellent view: The best view on the Alicante City with the premium room, Breath taking. Location excellent: close to the city centre, to the beach, shop and tram. Room: very comfortable, spacious, clean, very good aircon, clean, comfortable beds. I cannot say more, very good wifi.
I had plenty of room. 2 bathrooms, a terrace and a sauna! which I never used but I’ve never had a hotel room with a sauna! The staff were very helpful. The location was great. I would stay here again if I ever return to Alicante.
Great hotel in a perfect city centre location, it will be our 'go to' hotel for future visits to Alicante.
Beware...we will be back!!
Fantastic shower in the room, very spacious.
Breakfast was great too.
Highly recommended.
The house is in a very nice area close to Alicante, it's the perfect location to access the city but also avoid it if you want some calm. Margot is very sweet and has the biggest heart - Thank you again!
Best view over the city, cosy and comfortable apartment, the landlord was nice talking to and he was highly professional in his doing. We can recommend this flat in this lively town of Alicante.
The hotel was clean with a nice pool area and breakfast was decent. It is on the beach road so good for easy access and there are some restaurants close by.
