Madrid is the capitol of Spain, so it has many state buildings and statues. We expected to love the Museo del Prado, but found it surprisingly lacking in soul. It was very crowded and hard to navigate. Instead, we really enjoyed the Museo del Reina Sophia, the Spanish Museum of Modernism. It is more of a public educational museum covering the 20th century, especially the Spanish Civil War. Picasso's masterpiece Guernica is housed in this museum, along with experimental films, war posters, etc. I spend extended my visit by several extra hours to enjoy all the floors of this surprising collection and highly recommend it.

Madrid was wonderful, however booking.com and the apartment we rented were bad. It was a bait and switch and booking.com is allowing the owner to do this with their site and not checking on it. Pictures represented a decent apartment with 2 remodeled bathrooms the actual apartment had electricity issues, one toilet room that was falling apart and two showers in closets.
The rooms were not the actual people cruces nor were the bathrooms the pictures of the apartment and booking is allowing this owner to do that to travelers.

Great to be within walking distance of so many attractions.
Opportunity to visit ancient selltements with good transport options and english speaking guides.
We tried to cram to much into a single day and now wished we had devoted a separate day to each extended trip beyond the city.
We certainly would consider returning to Madrid to see and experience more of the attractions we did not have time to visit.

It was the first time we visited Madrid and it lived up to our expectations. It has plenty of history and culture on show together with plenty of restaurants (fast food, cafes and specialty outlets) offering different food as reasonable prices. We felt safe in the city even at night time. There are also plenty of outlets to go shopping.
Majority of the time we went to see historical places on foot but you can also see these with the easy to use public transport which is cheap.
There are also nearby parks for people to just relax and walk, especially the Retrio Park and Parque Rio Madrid.
The location is excellent, right in the city centre but quiet, and a short walk away from several metro stations. The room was large enough and it was cleaned well every day. The mattress was good and two pillows were provided: a thin, soft one and a thicker one, so you can choose which one you like best. All hotels should do this. In addition, there is a small desk, excellent wifi and airconditioning. Friendly staff. When I return to Madrid I will definitely consider staying at this hotel again.
I was traveling for 15 days in Spain and France, and I stayed in 5 stars hotel suite rooms or family rooms in comparison with those luxury 5 stars hotels this apartment was Very clean and was well designed and equipped with high-quality stuff. Refrigerator and washing machines and microwave, everything was in the apartment and all stuff was clean. Air condition worked better than in 5-star well-known hotels. We are very sensitive to cleanliness and it was very clean.
The staff here is amazing. They really go the extra mile for all of their guests. Silvia was especially helpful and kind….. she also makes the best tinto de verrano anywhere in Spain.
This place is clean, bright & friendly. It offers dining on a roof patio, great WiFi, as well as daytime tours of Madrid and evening bar tours.
I have stayed here several times when I’ve been in Madrid & highly recommend The Hat.
Very near shops, restaurants, etc. Many landmarks are walkable from the hotel. Rooms and toilets were clean and beds comfortable. I’m glad that we included daily breakfasts in our booking since things start a little later here in Spain. Breakfast was ample. Staff were kind and helpful. Hotel is eco-friendly. Taxi service from and to the airport is easy to get and rate is fixed.
We loved the location, and the staff were lovely and so professional. We stayed in Madrid at Gran Hotel Ingles the last night of a week-long trip to Spain for our 20-year anniversary. The staff welcomed us by wishing us happy anniversary, and had a lovely anniversary surprise in our room. So so wonderful and memorable! The breakfast was fabulous too!
The hotel is beautiful. The staff (especially Galo and another staff member I don't recall her name) were awesome. I stayed in 3 hotels during my vacation in Spain. This hotel was the outstanding by far. If I visit Madrid in the future, Sardinero Madrid is where I'll be staying. The location was a 10 minute walk to Puerta del Sol, the center of Spain.
it was approximately 50euros per night for a city centre location so if you have expectations of a 3* Hotel then this isn't the place for you. Location, friendly reception staff and facilities were fantastic. I would have no hesitation booking here again if I came back to Madrid
The hotel was convenient for the airport. We were only there for one night before driving to the north of Spain. It was a bit far from central Madrid for us to go in for the evening for a couple of hours. Good breakfast, nice pool which we used, comfortable room.
Awesome design aesthetic throughout the hotel. Location is super convenient to the Chamartin train station and metro lines, which allow easy access to northern Spain or to downtown Madrid. Neighborhood was quiet, allowing for a nice night's sleep.
Really stylish boutique hotel in a great location in the centre of Madrid. The rooftop bar is one of the best I’ve been to at a hotel. The location is ideal; right at the heart of Madrid’s most lively city centre neighbourhoods
It's a small hotel in the city centre of Madrid. I would say that the location is just perfect. The room is small, don't have great expectations, but at least is quiet and we could rest without hearing the noisy street.
Nice clean hotel. Only stayed for a night due to layover in Madrid. Taxi is about €15-€20 to the airport and it’s about 45 mins from the city centre by public transport. All in all a fine hotel for a good price.
I’ve stayed there several times. It’s an overnight stay before departing Spain from Madrid Barajas. It’s always been clean; staff is friendly and helpful. Shuttle to airport is reliable.
