We stayed in Espoo for one night,then stayed four in Helsinki. It was the best way of enjoying the snow (being Irish it is a novelty )and enjoying the peaceful forest surrounding the hotel. It was a great start to our christmas break before going into the city. It was magical and I did a morning hike around the grounds of the hotel. My sons and I loved it.

Espoo is the most prosperous and safest area in Finland. The reason for that is that 40% of Espoo's population has a university degree. The best area of the city is by the sea in the middle of nature.

For those who likes to be in nature. There is nearby two very good birdwatching places: Maarian lintutorni and Laajalahden lintutorni. I also recommend to visit Villa Elfin nearby. Also Gallen-Kallela museum is worth of visiting.

The added some splashes of colour that added some fun to the heavier, darker vintage vibe. The bathroom was clearly updated and I appreciate the shower doors so you don't have to splash water everywhere. The staff when we checked in at night were extra cheerful and nice and the crib was already set up when we arrived which was just awesome. The decor inside the hotel is great. The room was spacious with a nice view to the sea. Sauna and swimming pool were great too, you can swim in the sea as well, there is a private pier at the hotel. We ate at the restaurant, service was just great and food very nice. Overall, very nice experience and great value for money.

Proximity to the beautiful lake, big park / forest with trails, comfortable bed, outstanding food... just cannot wait to return there. You can walk or rent the bike there. It is extremely quiet place, but not far from Helsinki, just half an hour drive from the center.
