This hotel is conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. Breakfast was one of the best. Had time to check in luggage and come back for breakfast! Salmon, smoothies, bacon, boiled eggs, poached eggs, egg muffin, bacon, beans, fruit, cheeses, blue cheese, breads, list goes on. Good tv and close to terminal.

Loved the organization and distribution of this airport areas; most of all it is the first time I experience such a good customer service from the baggage claim staff until the security check staff. Nothing special at Vantaa we know of. Take the train into Helsinki instead. Walk around the old part of town, particularly the architecture behind the giant Russian Orthodox Church. The outdoor pipe organ monument to a Finnish composer is very cool.
Vantaa has great public transportation. It is near Helsinki and the airport is right there. The new train system is fantastic and makes moving around quite easy. They have a day pass that makes public transportation quite affordable. Vantaa has plenty of bars and restaurantes, supermarkets, drugstores and trails to bike and run. I found the area very nice and easy to explore. Do not forget to visit the Heureka Center. It is great for children, but as an adult you can also have a good time there. It is 5 minutes away from the Tikkurila train station.
I've spent in Vantaa several times, only from a few hours to a night before/after the flights, so I haven't much experience about staying there but I've found that Finnish people care very much for comfort and convenience in everything, even in details having the secondary importance. This makes staying in Vantaa very pleasant.
The town was quite safe at any time of the day even at night it feels really safe to be anywhere. The transportation system was excellent buses and trains are always on time and the city is well connected to move around. Nice restaurants and buffets as well.
This is an excellent airport. Convenient access to public transport into Helsinki, nearby hotels with shuttles, and best of all, the quickest trip through check-in, bag drop, and security of any international airport I've visited.
