Le Vauban, hotel in Villefranche-sur-Mer

Le Vauban has accommodations in Villefranche-sur-Mer near Plage des Mariniere and Plage de l'Ange Gardien.

Location was the only good thing with this stay, but having been in Villefranche many times (this one the 3rd this year), I'd rather walk longer from the bus than stay here again - until this hotel is updated with regards to: > beds (horrible standard) > cleanliness (now mission impossible as very outdated and scruffy), ouf!!! > missing hooks in the room, we had to hang jackets on door handle... > bathroom, terribly cheap interior and even if recently (?) renovated it was already in a bad state, with broken shelves and shower constructed in a way that made you stand in high water as if it was a tub etc (+stupid small things like the soap container installed just above the toilet roll... no comments)

The location was exceptional. We could get to all the places along the Riveria easily. Ville France Sur Mer is a perfect place along the waterfront with many wonderful restaurants . Luxurious Penthouse with panoramic view, hotel in Villefranche-sur-Mer

Just a 18-minute walk from Plage des Mariniere and 0.9 miles from Plage de la Darse, Luxurious Penthouse with panoramic view features accommodations in Villefranche-sur-Mer with a garden.

We absolutely loved the penthouse. It was beautiful, comfortable, and well equipped. It is quite high up on the hill so be prepared for that. The views are absolutely stunning!!! We stayed six nights, and they were our favorite part of our 35 day trip to Scotland and France. The balcony is immense and the views at different times of the day and night were magical. We did not want to leave. We had some trouble getting the door unlocked the first time, (pull back slightly to get it unlatched), but the property manager responded quickly and came to help us. It was an adventure figuring out how best to go down to, and get back up from the town center at first, but with some help from the Tourist Info. center, we learned how to use the little bus, #80, which helped a great deal! Otherwise it is 475 steps which takes some stamina! Our bus driver was so friendly and kind, he was a real pleasure to get to know. This place is amazing, we highly recommend it!

    Soooooooooo many stairs everywhere!

Soooooooooo many stairs everywhere! But, Villefranche is absolutely beautiful. It's easy to get to other cities and the walk to Nice, although about 1.5 hours, is very beautiful. You can go through your entire wardrobe in early May since it is is cool in the morning and in the shade and hot in the afternoon. Always carry change with you for public bathroom in Villefranche and the surrounding cities. Definitely get the pavlova at Les Garcons!

Villefranche-sur-Mer is a lovely, out of the hustle & bustle of cities with interesting historical and nature sites nearby. For the "magnifique appartement" the outdoor terrace, availability of a few coffee pods in the apartment, and affordable pricing for the Cote d'Azur were most likeable. What is unlikeable includes the dark entrance and hallway, sticky floors, dust everywhere, dank smell, dirty silverware and pots, lumpy, foam bed with worn linen, metal sofa bed, dying plants, unworking floor lamp, lack of information for how to use any appliances (no toaster was to be found in any of the overcrowded-with-random-cookware cupboards), stale spices, worn towels, lack of toilet, tissue and paper towels, remote location, difference between images in listing and actual furnishings, space and amenities.

A small, friendly Patrimoine (heritage ) town to the east of Nice. It has a good rail and bus service to Nice and towns to the east. The town has many small, friendly restaurants and bars. There are small but well-stocked shops in the town. It makes a great base to explore this part of the riviera and beyond.

We loved the historic, quiet beauty of Villefranche-sur-Mer.

We loved the historic, quiet beauty of Villefranche-sur-Mer. We know it would be much busier in Summer so being there at the start of Spring was perfect although some restaurants were not open - April would probably be the ideal time. It is such a pretty town with a lovely harbour and so different to the glitzy high-rise of other parts of the French Riviera. The people were friendly and it was easy to travel beyond the town by train or bus to places like Nice, Monaco and Cap Ferrat. The tourism information centre people were very helpful, as were the friendly staff at Les Palmiers - great food too. We visited the Citadel and also the gorgeous Saint-Pierre chapel which was decorated outside and inside by Jean Cocteau.

Villefranche-sur-mer is one of the most beautiful villages...

Villefranche-sur-mer is one of the most beautiful villages in the South of France, beautiful harbours, beaches and stunning views. Surrounded by nearby beautiful towns, you can walk to Beaulieu Sur Mer & St Jean Cap Ferrat and being located in between Nice & Monaco, you are just a quick easy train ride either way or a stunning walk to either. The location is amazing. Highly recommend a fabulous Hotel in Villenfranche-sur-mer called “HOTEL DE LA DARSE” which I have stayed at twice now and it is excellent value for money, has a lovely restaurant & terrace, super breakfast, stunning views from the balcony rooms.

It is just such a beautiful place.

It is just such a beautiful place. Maybe not so suited for elderly or disabled people because there are a lot of stairs down to the vibrant area of the port and beach where most of the restaurants and bars are located. We had wonderful meals and drinks in great bars and loved sitting close to the water to eat our meal !! There is a little shuttle bus that can take you down from the top to the bottom but it only goes once an hour!

The location was the absolute best thing about this apartment. It could not have been more ideal. It was close to everything and just steps away from some of the best restaurants like Belle L'Etoile, Les Garcons, Cave Nature, and more. It was also very close to a pharmacy, the Welcome Hotel for Uber meeting, the Casino store, and a butcher shop. We appreciated having a stove/oven and the dishwasher. AirBnB said it had a clothes dryer (Bookings did not say this), but it does not.

Great hotel overlooking the Mediterranean. Our room was clean and modern. The air conditioning worked well. The bed was comfortable and the shower worked well. The pool was refreshing and they gave us towels for the pool and the beach. The staff was friendly and helpful. They served a very good breakfast with eggs made to order and many other nice choices. Eating breakfast on the terrace was one of the highlights of our trip. We really enjoyed our stay.

Theirry, the hotel owner and manager, is welcoming and helpful and very well-informed. He went out of his way to help us find and accomplish all the things we wanted to do in the area. The hotel is family-owned and family-run, and they are obviously proud and working hard to renovate and maintain this historic hotel. It also is perfectly located, just steps away from the historic port area and many delicious restaurants.

Perfectly located in the old town of Villefranche, yet still within a 7 minute walk from the train station, so it made day trips to other parts of the French Riviera very convenient. The apartment was spacious with lovely furnishings, very comfy bed and well-equipped kitchen (we didn’t get to use it since there were so many great restaurants to try nearby). Would 100% recommend, and would happily stay here again.

We loved this hotel - the staff are very lovely and helpful and they went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. The breakfast is delicious. Just be aware that it's a bit of a trek to and from the beach if you chose to walk- doable if you are reasonably fit. The alternatives are easy like parking at the beach or taking the bus if you don't want to walk

This hotel is well known for its location, right on the water front, with stunning views across Ville Franche Bay. Glorious sunshine in the morning, but , note, the sea view balconies lose the sun early afternoon. Lots of restaurants to choose from within walking distance and local train station takes you East to Monaco or West to Nice and Antibes.

A great location to observe the busy little port, with a lovely walk along the fortress walls into Villefranche. The "Harbor View" rooms don't offer much view... I highly recommend to spend a little extra for a balcony room. Breakfast on the terrace was very nice. This is definitely one of the best low cost options in Villefranche.

I came late with a kid and wife, and no one was either answering phones or opening the doors. How jnbelievable to waste £120 and still no one texting back or ringing me regarding a refund I requested at midnight on 18/12/2023. Booking.com staff said that they can not find anyone at the hotel. I can tell there is a scam here.

The location is gorgeous, with sea view and very close to St.Jean Cap Ferrat, Villefranche-sur-mer and Beaulieu-sue-mer. Also you have quick access to the bus station and the train station from Beaulieu. The hotel is beautifully decorated with typical French details and has a cosy garden with lots of greenery.
