Beautiful setting in the middle of Downham village. Our room was in a separate cottage to the left of the pub. This had 3 other rooms and a little communal sitting room - it would be a great place to stay with a group of friends. The room, and especially the bathroom, were really spacious and it was great to have Both a shower and a bath. L'Occitane toiletries were a very welcome surprise! Breakfast was really good with a great choice of delicious things. There was such a lovely lady, with short grey hair, on the housekeeping team who was exceptionally pleasant and kind.

We absolutely loved our time here. The bed was very comfy, we stayed in Blue and it was perfect for us. The staff were excellent, very friendly and attentive. The owner was absolutely lovely and welcoming, also very passionate about their business and it shows in everything they do. I strongly recommend staying here, it was a treat for us, one of the best breaks I have ever had. Last but not least the food was 10/10, exceptional!!

The grounds were beautiful and I can see why it's a wedding venue. The hotel itself was very cosy, a lovely lounge area with high-backed chairs and comfy sofas to enjoy a drink before bed. My room was nicely decorated and the bed and pillow were exceptionally comfortable (better than mine at home!) Michaela was on duty and was very helpful providing me with a charger when I realised I'd forgotten mine. She was on duty for breakfast, which was also great. Full English and continental choices. I paid around £80 and consider this money well spent. Definitely recommend.

The welcome and ongoing friendliness of vivienne who couldn’t have done more for us was initially wonderful… our rooms were extremely quiet and the breakfast was amazing…being able to choose just whatever we wanted off the menu however we wanted it …also the grounds were something else, we were lucky as the weather was fantastic and we took time to walk around the grounds which were vast

Room clean/nice, bed comfy. Bathroom shower was great, didn't look like it would be powerful, but was. Plughole in sink had a little dirt, easily came off. Shower cubicle door surround could do with reseal, as bit marked from soap. Apart from that a very lovely spacious room. Bar/Restaurant was good, staff very helpful and polite.

Plenty of shops, cafes, pubs and picturesque churches with Pendle Hill as it's backdrop. The castle is interesting to explore and set in a lovely park, good for short walks. Great destination for real ale drinkers. Bowland Brewery at Holm Mill has good food (and extensive beer choice) and Ice and Spice was a good venue for cooked breakfast.

Lots of lovely places to visit in and around Clitheroe.

Lots of lovely places to visit in and around Clitheroe. Lovely Mexican/Spanish restaurant called The Wellsprings, Sabden, well worth a visit serving excellent food and a beautiful views across the valley. For a lovely all-day breakfast try the wonderful Hindelinis restaurant and bar on the historic Gisburne Park Estate. If it's a Sunday roast you are after, why not try the fabulous Rhubarb restaurant in the Herriots Hotel in Skipton. We had a nice roast beef dinner in there when we visited. Not far we visited Malham Cove, Janet's Floss waterfall and Gordale Scar - a lovely 4 1/2 mile walk from Malham.

The questions don't reflect the stay, we chose the hotel and the length of stay because we had booked a dinner in a local restaurant. Whalley, not Clitheroe (Geographically error on the B.com website) is a lovely village, generally.
