The staff were excellent so friendly especially Mathew. The location was great and the breakfast was superb. Really enjoyed ourselves. Would recommend for a good value break. Car parking was an added bonus

We stayed twice on our way to and from visiting family in N Wales. The rooms each time were tastefully decorated with comfortable beds and well-appointed en-suite with shower.
The service was extremely friendly and helpful (carrying luggage to our room). Food in the restaurant was good and my husband liked the beer!
As we had a disabled parking badge we were able to park right outside, which was a bonus.

As we were staying to attend a wedding at Clearwell castle, we didn’t get to use the facilities of the hotel this time but were impressed with what we saw. The room was fine , plenty of comfy bedding towels etc and nice bathroom

Monmouth is a lovely town with lots of shops, market, places to eat and theatres. We stayed to go to the theatre and had an excellent evening show with Alfie Moore. There are excellent butcher shops and M&as food . There are lovely riverside walks and further afield the Forest of Dean to explore.AAnonymous - 10Scored 10
Monmouth itself is very pretty and quite touristy.
Monmouth itself is very pretty and quite touristy. We didn't spend too much time there but explored the countryside and villages around. We went to Symonds Yat, Tintern Abbey, Chepstow and a couple of castles. What a beautiful area. This area is also quite food-y. There isn't much to do here, but the point of our trip is always the same, so we do get a lot of enjoyment out of it. People are so friendly and helpful. The only place I know where around 80% of the population say good morning, and acknowledge you. Two definite recommendations - if going in August head to Harts (fantastically discounted bras and swimwear for the ladies), and don't leave without going to Coffee Lab. Superb!

Monmouth is a lovely small town, with an excellent array of shops, including many small specialised enterprises, some interesting historic buildings, beautiful countryside around and also very friendly people. There is plenty to do and see in the town and it is a great centre for visiting cities such as Cardiff, Hereford, Cheltenham and Bristol. Not far from Monmouth is Symonds Yat, on the border between England and Wales, and some fantastic border castles such as Goodrich, Skenfrith and the White Castle. Road links too are very good.

We did not stay long enough ( one night ) we will be going back to stay longer, it would be a good base to explore the area. It will be car based as Dr. Beeching put paid to to good public transport in the area.

Our bedroom was large, tastefully furnished, clean and comfortable. At this time of year, heaters in b&b and hotel bathrooms often prove inadequate, but that was not the case at Torlands. No chilly shiverings and damp towels for us. The spacious guest lounge on the top floor is lovely, with stunning views across the surrounding countryside.

Our room was clean and comfortable with a kettle and TV. The monsoon shower was spacious with calming blue light option. We had a view of the Wye valley and beautiful sunsets. The wifi was not working when I arrived but was quickly fixed. Breakfast was the usual choice of cereals and variations on a full cooked breakfast.
