We have stayed at this hotel many times over the years. We like its proximity to the port of Dover and
How quiet it is despite being close to the A2
Dinner and breakfast were excellent and the staff very friendly.

The rooms are new. specious and very clean, there were many guests in the lovely garden, and the staff was friendly. We arrived late and although the restaurant was full, they managed to find a table for us, and the food was good and generous.

We had the most wonderful stay - wish it could have been longer! Nothing was overlooked - even treats in a jar, fresh eggs on the side, crisps and cookies waiting in a basket.
And the view (which was definitely helped by unusual amazing weather!) could have been in the Mediterranean

Dover is famous for the white cliffs which would have been a striking sight to the Romans as they advanced on England. They decided to construct a port at this strategic spot and it has held an important role ever since. Ferries to Calais and Dunkirk cross the English Channel several times daily and some brave souls even manage to swim across.
A Roman lighthouse still stands atop a hill overlooking the port, but is easily missed as it was incorporated into Saxon St Mary de Castro Church as the bellower. It is found within the grounds of 13th-century Dover Castle, one of England’s largest castles, whose multi-level ramparts sit above tunnels where the World War II Dunkirk evacuation was planned.
Another Roman monument is the Painted House whose remains include some of the best-preserved Roman murals north of Italy. Even older is the Bronze Age boat displayed in Dover Museum.
The Dover Transport Museum showcases vintage vehicles, and the Blériot Memorial marks the spot where the first airplane to fly across the Channel first touched English soil. A path runs along the top of the nearby cliffs, while at their feet is a shingle beach.
The Dover accommodation on Booking.com includes luxury hotels with pools, cheap inns and B&Bs near the train station.

The walk along the cliffs was amazing.
The walk along the cliffs was amazing. The trail to the sea along the edge of the cliff was only s little challenging for my arthritis but the view was worth it. Seeing a Spitfire fly overhead was an added bonus!

Dover is a must see and can be placed on your bucket list. The walk along the cliffs is great and the Dover castle is well maintained and very interesting. Parking in Dover is as per all UK towns a problem and you need to plan accordingly or you can use the local bus services.

We spent a day and a half in Dover and came specifically to see the historical Fan Bay Shafts (National Trust) and Dover Castle (English Heritage).
We found Fan Bay Shafts interesting and very 'genuine' history. Note that it is 45 minutes underground in damp, but not cold, tunnels, wearing a hard hat and head torch.
Dover Castle warrants a whole day or more! Lots to see.
We had time to see Deal Castle too. Good as a contrast, as it is a Tudor fortification. They have tried hard with their pretty good first floor exhibition, but the basement is an underused and under-explained resource which could be much more imaginatively tackled.

Dover needs significant regeneration: the town is tired and not appealing. I have known Dover since 1965 and to be honest it is probably now at its worst, but I can see some small signs of improvement: however everything being demolished is becoming a car park!! Dover needs to look like Folkestone or Deal: more independent and unique shops to attract people. Not the standard chains stores and "cheap shops", which of course have their place but different shops attract curiosity.
The castle remains the main attraction, as does western heights and Dover Patrol memorial. Kirsney Abbey and Russell Gardens provide a tranquil side. the ride through Alkham Valley, always puts a smile on my face.

Dover is a very busy port town but also a town full of interesting history. We loved walking out along the pier, watching the ferries come in & go out, we enjoyed visiting Dover Castle very much, it is well worth putting a day aside to visit the castle and we found the town centre to contain everything we needed for our visit; minimart, chemist, shoe shop, pubs, restaurants & coffee shops. It’s small enough to walk everywhere & plenty to do. There’s a great walk along the famous white cliffs which we ran out of time to do but we’d like to come back one day & see more of this great town.
In all, Dover is a bit rough around the edges but a very interesting town to visit, especially if you like boats, the seaside & history.

Plenty to do in Dover and with travel issues (traffic and train strikes) well worth reducing the stress and planning a day in Dover. Premier Inn offered (online reservation) for Bag stashers. Local museum has amazing Bronze age boat! Dover castle has so many different historic periods covered - Roman lighthouse, Plantagenet castle and World war II hospital / headquarters - allow plenty of time.
My brother and I came to Dover for the weekend in order to visit the famous White Cliffs, and we spent a night at Maison Dieu Guesthouse. We chose this particular guesthouse for its high ratings. Upon arrival, the hosts were very friendly and kindly offered us a cup of tea with biscuits. The room itself had all the amenities we needed, and a table with a kettle and tea/coffee. The heating inside our room worked very well. We had our private bathroom on the same floor, and everything was clean and nicely organised.
In all my travels I have never had such a terrific experience in lodging. The room was quaint, comfortable and quiet. The breakfast was not only more than expected but also very good. Staff was engaged and they made sure our stay met or exceeded our expectations. Location was great as it was walking distance to Dover Castle, shopping and restaurants. The best thing about the Hubert House was our hostess, Farrah. I have never seen anyone more concerned about the quality of our stay. Thank you.
George, his lovely wife and Jan have been very warm, welcoming and helpful. We feel right at home here. They were kind to let us deposit our luggage before check in and after we have checked out. That made our moving around in Dover so much more easier
They upgraded us to a triple room, it is very clean. It has nice hot shower, firm bed, beverage and biscuits were provided.
We will stay here again if we visit Dover again :)
Hotel is across the street from the train station. Took the train from London St Pancreas station.
After checking in, we walked into small Dover town for dinner and found a grocery store to buy wine for the cruise. Next morning we walked to cruise, port a mile in 30 minutes, but we have light luggage. Always recommend you book a hotel the night before you cruise within walking distance of port.
Very nice place with a great view over Dover. Very quiet thanks to its situation far from the centre and the main road. Very nice welcoming by Margaret and her husband who kindly proposed me to carry my suitcase into my room as there are steep stairs to get there. Lovely breakfast. Very cosy, clean and quiet room and entrance locked with security code. Nice little private car park below the hotel.
Nice little Guesthouse in Dover England. The owners and their family are super nice and friendly. They went out of their way to make sure our stay was exceptional. They even arranged for a town car to get us to our Cruise Ship. The traditional British Breakfast was outstanding and even though it was extra it was well worth it and not that expensive.
We were there on 11 to 12 december. Very warm and professional service of the hotel. Main part is the location of the hotel is fabulous and a gentleman of my country Mr. Mayur was helpful and supporting for all our needs. I'm strong recomending the hotel to all my friends and collegues as a perfect location and service in Dover!!!
THANK YOU !!!!!
The guest house is located close to the Dover castle, seaside and the city centre. Our room was quite spacious, with a beamed ceiling, two beautiful windows with outside flower boxes and was furnished in the "old" style. The bed was excellent. We were warmly welcomed by the concierge John, who gave us a great introduction to the city's history.
The generous hospitality of Michael and Andrullia was the highlight of our stay.
Get Michael to bring out his guitar and regale you with his talent. We were impressed.
The delicious breakfast dished out kept us going through the climb to the 'White cliffs' and onward to the Dover castle.Truly amazing!
Overall a '10'.Nothing less.
A nice basic hotel just outside Dover, it is a perfect stop over when getting an early ferry.
The staff were a bit thin on the ground so some waiting occurred but they were friendly and happy to help.
The food on offer at the Bella Italia restaurant is delicious and this is based inside the resturant itself.
The hosts Margaret and Phillip were very welcoming. Their lovely B & B was conveniently located walking distance to the train station and town. They were very helpful suggesting ways to see the most in and around Dover. I was very grateful for their help and hospitality.
Accommodating and helpful. Arrived early with car trouble; hotel was easy walking distance from a decent mechanic, fish & chip shop, small grocery, off licence, local train depot, Dover castle, and lovely views. Perfect overnight before a morning ferry departure.
Clean, quiet, home from home. For our engineers working close at Port of Dover it was perfect location. They had previously stayed at the Premier Inn, but they liked this much better and we will book again if they need to return to Dover for work.
Easy location for travelling to Dover ferry port. Quiet area just outside of the town with ample parking at back of the hotel. Front Desk staff Mayur was brilliant and friendly. Our room was smaller than normal but adequate for a one night stay.
The location is perfect, close to the train and bus station, close to good restaurants and around 5 minutes from Dover Castle. The owner is very nice and were helpful to our demands. We bought the breakfast and it was also delicious.
Very nice hosts. Checkin really easy. They offered to park and lock our bikes in their shed next to hotel. Expect no luxury. Small room, but good price and next tot train station in Dover.
