Very cosy room with large comfy bed and excellent hot shower. Location meant that good restaurants were literally next door or within 10 min walk. And breakfast/brunch was easily sorted due to the many cafes nearby. Great tv options needed on winter nights with Netflix, iPlayer, and many other options. Had difficulty with heating when we arrived on a very cold day, so I texted the owner and he promptly responded. He turned heating on remotely and turned up later to check that all was OK. So although there is no staff on site, you knew there was someone to help as necessary.

Everything was absolutely perfect! The location is fantastic, with a breathtaking view of the sea to wake up to. The breakfast was great, and the staff were incredibly kind and attentive. The entire hotel is beautifully decorated with high-quality materials, creating a warm and cozy atmosphere. There are also wonderful books available to read, which adds to the charm. The hotel has a Wes Anderson vibe, and it’s one of those rare places where you feel like you could live there. A special mention goes to the hallway leading to the rooms, which showcases the remnants of Margate’s history, almost like a small museum!

Upon arrival we were greeted by the lovely manager who straight away upgraded our room because we were early. We haven't experienced this type of friendliness and service for a long time so we were very impressed. Our room was huge with a king sized comfortable bed and great views overlooking the fields behind us. Nicely decorated and very clean and we could park our small van next to it. Breakfast in the morning was cooked to order and delicious. Once again cooked by the lovely manageress who's name I couldn't quite remember but something like Jellenia. I'd definitely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel

FAQs about hotels in Kent

The Peaceful Garden of England

The so-called Garden of England, Kent is known for its lush greenery. Although within easy reach of London, it’s a world away from the hustle and bustle. So much so, that at many Kent hotels, spa facilities come as standard. One is, unsurprisingly, in the sophisticated spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells.

Nearby in Lamberhurst is medieval Scotney Castle, surrounded by a moat. Also moat-bound and with Kent accommodation available on Booking.com are Hever Castle and Leeds Castle (the latter in a village not to be confused with the city of Leeds).

The county town is Maidstone, but its most famous city is Canterbury, whose magnificent cathedral is the seat of the Church of England’s highest post. Rochester also has an impressive cathedral.

To the west is Margate, one of the top Kent seaside towns. Other resorts with long beaches are Broadstairs, Ramsgate and Deal. Around the coastline, Dover is known for its white cliffs, castle and the ferries crossing the English Channel to France. To the west is the Channel Tunnel by Folkestone, and Eurostar trains from St Pancras also stop at Ashford inland.

Other popular Kent attractions are the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch railway, Brands Hatch motor racing circuit, and the conical oast houses so typical of this part of England.

Hever Castle was incredibly magical and every aspect exceeded my expectations. The staff was spectacular and very helpful, the rooms very incredible, the washroom was modern, the grounds were stunning. The breakfast was delicious! We had lunch at the gardens on-site, we chose outside seating, nice selection of food, the sponge cake was heavenly. The gift shop was a nice touch as well as the ice cream. We took a local taxi the hotel recommended to the Wheatsheaf for dinner which was amazing as well. I didn’t want to leave Hever Castle. So amazing.

It's as good as everyone says it is. Don't let the white walls in the photos fool you into thinking it's drab. This place is classic understated elegance, and you can tell it was built to last and with quality. Seaside with rooms with a view (and binoculars!) , comfortable bed, modern bathroom, lovely downstairs area with 24/7 bar and an amazing buffet breakfast that provides a full English short of blood pudding. And 5 minute walk from freshly shucked oysters on the pier.

Surprising amount to see and do in and around Dover. City centre shopping not great but the Castle, white cliffs and surrounding area had many, very good sites for visitors. If visiting the castle - highly recommended - take good walking shoes as it covers a lot of area and has a lot of steps and slopes. A full day out in itself.

We didn't see much of Ashford as we were there for one night and off to Port Lympne Safari Park the next day which was 20 minutes away. It's an ideal place to stay as there's a lot to explore nearby and staff at the hotel were very helpful with suggestions as to what places to visit next time such as Leeds Castle, Go Ape, Howletts Wild Animal Park and you could pop over to France as well! Plenty to explore and I hope to go back very soon.

There's plenty to see and walks near the town. Large selection of shops too, the usual chains but also smaller independent shops. Several hotels with a range of prices. I object to seeing the resident pigeons chased and frightened by uncaring children. You get this everywhere, I know, but they are wildlife and therefore protected.

There are some really nice places to eat. The Mexican and. sargasso on the harbour. Don't be deterred by the smell as you approach. It smells like a sewer but in fact it is just seaweed that has been washed up and the smell disappears as you get to the restaurants. The beach is fabulous but Dreamland was a big disappointment

Deal is a lovely seaside town. You can walk on the pier and visit the beach. The town has lots of shops, all in a reasonable size area, even I could walk around without being in pain.
