Cathedral Gate 3 stars

Hotel in Canterbury

Dating back to 1438, the historic Cathedral Gate is in the heart of Canterbury. I loved my stay here. The location was fantastic, but the thing that struck me most was the friendliness of the staff! Monica on reception went above and beyond to make sure that I was comfortable. The check-in process was quick and easy, and I was made comfortable while my room was made ready as I had arrived early. I was lucky enough to receive a free upgrade, and my room was clean, spacious, warm, and very comfortable.

The Plough Inn 4 stars

Hotel in Stalisfield

Situated in Stalisfield, The Plough Inn features free WiFi. Each accommodation at the 4-star hotel has garden views, and guests can enjoy access to a restaurant and to a garden. I stayed with my son Jack after a day at Eastwell Manor in the company of the Hawking Centre, a local attraction I can fully recommend. The elevated location of the Plough Inn is stunning and quiet. The Pub is everything you would hope for in a Kentish country pub, old with character, good local ales from the Whitstable brewery and really really good food. The staff were nice, friendly and attentive, not overly. The Plough has a nice community feel. As for the accommodation, 10/10.

The Golden Hope Wetherspoon 4 stars

Hotel in Sittingbourne

Set in Sittingbourne, The Golden Hope Wetherspoon features a bar, a garden and a terrace. With a restaurant, the 4-star hotel has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a private bathroom. Kinda of want to leave a bad review so the room is always available for me when I want it 😂😂 but honestly everything was perfect .. it's a lovely large room, an amazing bathroom with free standing bath and it filled in minutes. Staff were excellent and very helpful, even doing breakfast earlier for me ..which was great value for money with unlimited coffee. Excellent location but no parking although public car park is very near but you need to go and get a ticket at 7am Good value for money food and drink onsite but also many other places available all within walking distance.

FAQs about hotels in Kent

The Peaceful Garden of England

The so-called Garden of England, Kent is known for its lush greenery. Although within easy reach of London, it’s a world away from the hustle and bustle. So much so, that at many Kent hotels, spa facilities come as standard. One is, unsurprisingly, in the sophisticated spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells.

Nearby in Lamberhurst is medieval Scotney Castle, surrounded by a moat. Also moat-bound and with Kent accommodation available on Booking.com are Hever Castle and Leeds Castle (the latter in a village not to be confused with the city of Leeds).

The county town is Maidstone, but its most famous city is Canterbury, whose magnificent cathedral is the seat of the Church of England’s highest post. Rochester also has an impressive cathedral.

To the west is Margate, one of the top Kent seaside towns. Other resorts with long beaches are Broadstairs, Ramsgate and Deal. Around the coastline, Dover is known for its white cliffs, castle and the ferries crossing the English Channel to France. To the west is the Channel Tunnel by Folkestone, and Eurostar trains from St Pancras also stop at Ashford inland.

Other popular Kent attractions are the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch railway, Brands Hatch motor racing circuit, and the conical oast houses so typical of this part of England.
