Located in the seaside town of Margate, in East Kent, the Somerville Hotel offers accommodation with sea views and free WiFi in public areas. Margate
Directly opposite the Winter Gardens theatre on Margate seafront, The Bay - rooms only bed and breakfast enjoys a prime location on the Thanet coast. I had a blissful 2-night stay at The Bay Guesthouse on a business trip. The guesthouse owners Steve & Hannah are lovely, extremely hospitable and made one feel at home. My room was gorgeous, with a great sea view, clean and the most comfortable & cosy bed. The place is very close to all of Margate's attractions and local amenities and the train station is only about a 15-minute walk away. I highly recommend this place and will be staying again.
Beach was lovely. Lovely walk from apartment to main beach in Margate. Was a bit difficult to locate restaurants but would highly recommend 'The Old Post Office'. Very good base to visit nearby places eg. Broadstairs and Ramsgate. Would say it seemed easier/less stressful to catch the local bus(especially the Loop) to said places.
Margate was easy to get to by train. The staff at the station were very helpful, welcoming and friendly. Taxi rack was just outside the station and well priced. The Bus service was prompt but walking around is easy to do.
Margate is a British seaside resort that has seen better days.much of the promenade along the seafront need restoration. Many of the restaurants in the town were fully booked and it was necessary to book in advance
Would not recomnend margate to anyone. It looks like alot of places have closed down.lots pubs & restaurants boarded up.Its such a shame. It needs an awful lot of money spending on it to improve it. All the surrounding places like ramsgate, broadstairs, canterberry are beautiful. The only decent place we found to eat was the beefeater restaurant in the Premier Inn & weatherspoons
Margate is a really fun seaside town with a brilliant arty side. The food was great wherever we ate, and would particularly recommend the old own to wander around in. Cinque ports, little swift, the lighthouse bar, all great. Really dog friendly throughout so great place to go with pets.
Had a nice few days in Margate and surrounding areas, visited in Feb Sunday to Wednesday, not a good idea as discovered most eateries, places to visit shut Monday and Tuesday and also in Broadstairs tho abit more choice there Beaches for long walks were lovely
Margate
The location is good, being quite close to the rail station and easy to find. Also it is close to a broad, long beach, which is an excellent way to walk into Margate proper. This is a residential house, converted into a mini-hotel, and done well. Rooms are clean, warm, light and the bathroom is fully equipped. Water is hot too. What makes the place excellent is the host, Jim. Perfect welcome, good conversation, happy smile and a perfect gentleman. I will definitely book here again the next time I visit Margate, thanks to Jim.

Location is perfect! And the view is exceptional!! The rooms are very big, and beautifully decorated. we liked the fact you have your own floor. Breakfast is brought to your room and the selection is fantastic! Made us feel very welcome and our little dog was treated like a king while we stayed at the pink house! Best B&B in Margate and fantastic hosts! We will return ♥️
Margate
The breakfast was really good, the rooms were clean and tidy and very quiet. The hosts were very friendly and gave us recommendations of what to do and where to go. We rented bikes for one day from Ken's Bikes (Cheapest price in Margate and great service) and cycled all the way to Joss Bay which was lovely. The hotel is very central and close to loads of bars and shops.
The apartment is right in front of Margate Main Sands, so incredible views. There's lots of restaurants and pubs nearby plus the Turner gallery and the independent shops in the Old Town. The apartment itself was really comfortable and well stocked in terms of glasses and crockery. There was also tea and coffee which was great.
Margate
The hotel was spotless, the bed was super comfortable and the breakfast, lovely. Great value for money, and while the location is about a 20min walk from the city centre, we appreciated being in a quieter part of town, and the view was great.
Lovely greeting on arrival and room was much larger than expected for a sea view. 5-10 minutes walk from a good selection of pubs/restaurants in Margate as well as the beach. Parking available nearby in a fairly cheap car park.
