Every detail was thought of for a comfortable 4 night stay. Tasteful decor throughout the suite. Spotlessly clean with good space for our luggage etc. Superbly large showeroom/ensuite with unit for toiletries, etc. The bed was clean and comfortable with quality linen and pillows, and extra towels available. The pedestal fans were just what was needed during what was another hot spell.

This historic coaching inn is full of character, with the bars and eating areas set in several old rooms at different levels. The staff were very helpful when I discussed food intolerances. The food was enjoyable, and the range of drinks was excellent.

The Venue was a lovely country Pub set by a canal with a tow path and lock, it was very popular and had a massive car park that also allows Campers, the licensees and all of the staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay overnight with our small show dogs and the way back from a show at Builth Wells, There were three of us and the excellent family room was ideal for out party. There are three single beds and one double all very comfortable beds, with a beautiful big shower room and toilet stocked with quality shower gel / shampoo/soap products. There was a fridge with canned spring water, tea/coffee making facilities, complementary, biscuits and mints, a hairdryer, towels for each of us. And a large screen TV, there was hanging space for garments and the room was very clean, bright and airy, it was warm weather and we were very grateful for the use of a large floor fan which helped us feel more comfortable overnight. We had a lovely evening meal and drinks in the garden with our dogs and a very peaceful comfortable night's sleep. In the morning we had a lovely continental breakfast with the addition of scrambled eggs, we loved the ambiance in the bar where we had our breakfast and there was a wide choice of breakfast items to choose from. The service was excellent throughout and we enjoyed our stay so much that we have already booked for next years show and will recommend it to our friends.

The house is spacious and lovely. Everything was so well furnished and decorated. A real gem. The car drive for the Green Man Festival was really short so it waz perfect for us since we don’t normally go camping. thanks for everything! It is a beautiful little village set in a very picturesque area, our stop was just overnight after a trip to a dog show in Builth Wells, but it was very enjoyable and we will return again next year and maybe explore some more.

A wonderful small town. full of character set amongst attractive hills. The surrounding countryside is gorgeous with a variety of lovely walks ranging from flat strolls along canal and river to substantial hills. Some of the streets in the town centre are quite steep too. The visitor centre has some excellent local guidebooks. There are a few local shops, including newsagents, as well as cafes, pubs and hotels for places to eat, but for more substantial shopping you will need to go into Brecon or Abergavenny.

It was a very pleasant small town beautifully situated in the Black Mountains and so near to other places of interest. We visited Hay on Wye, Abergavenny, Brecon and Canal basin, the Brecon Beacons. Wonderful scenery. We did the hike up Pen Y Fan with a large group of friends earlier in the day and then stayed over at the Bear afterwards. Everyone in our group booked their accommodation individually, however the Bear were happy to arrange a large table for our group and we pre ordered our meals ahead of time. We will definitely be back!

The village location near the pretty town of Crickhowell and within walking distance of hills & canals was delightful. The pub food was good and we loved the country style. The rooms were fresh and tastefully decorated, if somewhat compact. Although breakfast is not available on site there are a surprising number of good options within the town and by the canal side
