Friendly Staff. Large room, very comfy bed.Good position, only 10 minute to town, mostly through the Cathedral grounds, although beware that the Cathedral has two gates and they close at 10pm so don't get caught in the middle of them (we didn't, but luckily the helpful girl on the desk warned us just in case !).
The hotel looks 'tired' and in need of a bit of decorating/updating. The breakfast room was pretty awful, a conservatory with drawn blinds all the way around (except the view down the garden). We were by the window (Nice view across the garden to the river and the cathedral) and we opened a window, the inside of the window frame cannot have been cleaned for years, it was, frankly, disgusting. Breakfast adequate, but didn't seem particularly fresh.
Quiet location and views from room of cathedral and river
Small bar area. Couldn't provide breakfast in room when we had an early start.
Breakfast view towards the cathedral
No car parking space on arrival due to weight watchers meeting.
The attention by the owners, the nature and condition of the accommodation and the best breakfast.
The room was lovely, with a very comfortable four poster bed. Very spacious and clean, same for bathroom. Nice view from window.
No hair dryer in the room. Staff didn't have a spare one.
Possibly the location
cleanliness - the cups at breakfast were not clean. Shower tray did not drain and like wise the sink was very slow to drain. Definitely not worth £120 a night.
Quiet and unassuming. Comfortable enough.
Impossible to read a book in room 18 due to poor quality of lighting. Breakfast. Toast was appalling and the plates were cold for the cooked breakfast and the Food should have been warmer.
easy parking, good location, very comfortable bed, very tidy gardens, beautiful views onto river and cathedral excellent breakfast, as much as you want.
hotel looking a bit tired, needs a bit of a refit, the lounge room could do with better tables and chairs, the sink in bedroom was very slow to drain away, bathroom in general was small, and in need of update.
Size of room for four people.
Staff not very friendly. Nice building but not updated or maintained as well as it could be.
Location. Close to to city center.
When you check in - you feel like you are not really welcome. Don't order a drink at the bar - the bar man will stare at you why you order a drink! The personnel is below all standards and if you stay there during a weekend - you will experience a noisy wedding in the night. We would never go there again!
location looking over the cathedral easy to drive to short walk trough the cathedral grounds to the shops and cafes
evening meal was 7 to 930 to late as we like to eat about 6 so we went elsewhere
location as we did not have to use the car. Room was very big and comfortable.
cleaness of the communial rooms could have been better. Outside could have been cleaner.
Beautiful 'countryside' setting with a large garden next to a river and a view of Salisbury, but only ~10-15 minutes walk from the centre of town. Plenty of parking; wifi worked well.
room+bathroom a bit small. A couple of times it was difficult to find a staff member (checking in, breakfast) but they are friendly once found.
position (overlooking the river and water meadows) Lovely room and attentive housekeeping. Great breakfast.
Position (a good walk from the centre of tow) Bar (very expensive nightcap - double scotch and dry ginger + single amereto = £12.70) Very busy (difficult to park) on a Wednesday night ~ Weight-watchers meeting
Pretty setting, good location
Wireless network didn't work. Restaurant service very poor
Room was spacious and comfortable, with a good outlook Breakfast was tasty in attractive surroundings
It was summer and the room was too hot
Beautiful large garden directly behind the house which is ideal with small and not so small kids. Nice old building with a certain charme.
Rooms and corridors require refurbishment. Our bathroom was even with funghi. In the restaurant we had to wait for 1.5 hours to get some food mainly due to repeated misunderstanding of the staff between themselves.
Very friendly and accommodating staff. Good location--off the beaten path but just a short walk to town. Very nice room and bathroom. Great breakfast.
No elevator (had to climb three flights of stairs....tough on older folks). Lumpy mattress.
Huge and comfy bed
No air conditioning
Nice hotel, kept my tie after I accidentally left it. Older Breakfast staff very good, though only a buffet breakfast.
Reception was unmanned for some minutes (5-10) when I arrived. Even tried calling (twice), turned out they were having dinner and got annoyed with me when I went to the kitchen to find some staff. My fault !?
The hotel was clean and location was good
The price of £130 for 1 night was a bit expensive, if you compare it to others in the area
the hotel, the staff, the location, the room, the facilities
the bar closed a bit early for my liking
Difficult to park on premises in evening due to restaurant patrons - no space reserved for hotel guests only.
Room 22 opening on to the gardens, with a view of the cathedral, was a pleasant surprise. Breakfast was lovely and staff were very pleasant and helpful.
Privacy on patio, two rooms shared the space. Would have been better if had own space. However this did not spoil our stay
Loveley old house, view of Cathederal, nice lawns, comfy bed, good breakfast (proper sausages), helpful staff.
