Everything bar the owner, Jeremy. SO Bloody Rude and overstepped my personal boundaries by touching me on my arm without my permission to do so! INNAPPROPRIATE to say the least. He also withheld my refund as requested by my goodself because of the term and conditions laid out in the contract between himself, booking.com and myself. I paid £220 for one night stay at The Horn of Plenty near Tavistock. It is Amazing, however the owner, Jeremy leaves a lot less to be desired. Maybe, dear old Jeremy has to take early retirement and hand the keys to somebody more fitting
to such an establishment, maybe the under manager or the Head Chef. Respect to both of them. Hope to meet you one day. It would be an honor for us all to partake at the HoP!

Service was top notch from the off. I was greeted at the door following parking. Breakfast was easy to book. Recommendations were given for food and I was extremely grateful for this as the pub I visited was incredible. Rooms are spotless and breakfast set me up for the day. Don't be put off by not having a cooked breakfast. Fruit and coffee was exceptional. Everything was spot on. Very quiet and Brad was very sociable when it mattered. The room and hotel itself is spotless and maintained to a very high standard. I was worried about parking but there was plenty of spaces. Didn't need car charging but it was offered to me and available.

The church lane cafe is amazing good food and excellent service. The market doesn’t appear as busy on my recent visits.

An ideal size - could all be done on foot but with enough dining and drinking choices. Handsome architecture of local stone and granite. We recommend the Pannier Market (historic, with interesting stalls including unusually good second-hand books, and all under cover). The church, formerly adjacent to a monastery (of which a few traces remain) has a stained glass window by William Morris and Burne-Jones.

I live close to the center of Tavistock and was on a trip while I sorted things at home. Sometimes it is good to detach from the absolute familiar. Tavistock is a quiet, dreamy place in the main but has some night life centering around restaurants and take aways . The remaining public houses generally provide a warm welcome with a range of facilities across the board. Shopping: a good range of supermarkets, independent stores and franchises. Leisure pursuits are various in and around the town. It remains a satellite to The City of Plymouth however, with an other worldly quality. Not a suburb. Any recommendations would be biased.

Good Market town with lots of little shops but like most town starting to show signs of a down turn, has some free no street parking which is good but the council are planning to install parking meters which will kill the high street.

Tavistock is a mysterious Dartmoor Market town, with people from all walks of life making the most of its rural and ancient history. There are many places to eat and drink, quirky and interesting. The indoor market was voted the best in its class several years ago. I beleive it's even better now, with modern accessible toilets. There is a really good Weatherspoons large and quirky in places where you can relax for hours with very affordabel ales.......................Or coffee, freee refills. Besides other eateries including the historic Church which serves coffee and cake on certain days. The Church has become a main hub for visitors encouraging a friendly community spirit for all those who value trust, honesty and friendship. Some of the locals tell a very good tale or two!!
I highly recommend this beautiful guest house to anyone visiting the area. The owner couldn't have been any nicer when I arrived, spending time showing me around and explaining where everything was.
The location is right in the heart of Tavistock. So everything is all within a short walking distance.
The room was lovely with the most comfortable bed I think I have ever slept in. Everything was exceptionally well presented with high standards of cleanliness.
I really couldn't recommend One Drake Road highly enough.
Exceptional B&B. Jan & Mark made us feel very welcome in their beautiful property. The standard of everything is excellent, from the huge comfortable bed to the coffee & vegan breakfast. The property is spotless and only 5 minutes walk from the centre of Tavistock, free parking outside and a delightful canal walk on the doorstep. Jan & Mark are knowledgeable on the area and went out of their way to give us a personalised and friendly service . Would highly recommend to anyone. We will definitely return.
We were made very welcome by Sandra & Arthur, with tea and cakes offered to us on arrival. Sandra also gave us extra advice about visiting the area. Good cooked English breakfast and generous size home cooked evening meal. Room was fine for a few days stay.
Highlight of the stay was a tour of the farm including the sheep and cows in all the fields and the goats shed where there was also a nest of swallows. Beautiful peaceful location with great personal service, nothing like a chain hotel.
Superb location right next to the fast-flowing River Tavy where apparently you can see both otters and kingfisher. Slight drawback with location is fairly busy road outside which means driving onto and reversing from parking spaces can be tricky. The landlord Paul and his wife Carla were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.
Breakfast in the conservatory was superb; all products locally sourced, eggs done to perfection on soft white bread and fabulous coffee. Would make a return visit.
This characterful property is located within a few minutes walk of all Tavistock has to offer. It was spotlessly clean and comfortable with fantastic facilities for our group of three female friends enjoying a short break. Excellent communication with the host before, during and at the end of our stay. Highly recommended for a stay in delightful Tavistock.
I had the most wonderful stay and Eddy was an amazing host.
The place exceeded all my expectations and the facilities as well as being a central location in the town was comfortable and very quiet and relaxing.
If you are visiting Tavistock and the surrounding area (including Plymouth) then this is the place to stay.
The property is in a very remote location but that’s what makes it so nice. The Annex is well set out and has lovely decor.Viv and Howard are wonderful hosts and very knowledgeable of the area if you need any help. It’s a 10 minute drive in to Tavistock if you want to go into town. I would definitely stay there again.
The cottage is close to Tavistock and we walked into town on several occasions, which was very convenient. The lounge is comfortable although the TV is very small for the size of the room. The kitchen is well equipped although we did not do a lot of cooking as we have family in the area. The bed was comfortable.
The location in Tavistock is excellent and there is a very large car park. The staff delivered very good customer service. The communal areas are all fine - our bedroom No 24 was perfectly adequate though very hot. A fan had to be used the entire time. Breakfast was good and delivered with a smile.
beautiful property. ideally located to everything. owners were lovely and friendly and give any advice about the area. beautiful and clean throughout . beds lovely and comfy. would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Tavistock. would definitely stay another time 👍😀
Loved the size and facilities in the bath room, particularly the nonskid shower mat and grab bars. Very important! Thank you.
Also, we felt very safe. Each door into the hotel from the outside or pub below had a card key reader as well as interior doors. Superb.
We only had a one night stay at Kingfisher Cottage. The owner is very friendly, rooms clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. Only drawback was the parking which is next to a roundabout and can be difficult to get in and out of if the traffic is busy.
Claire is really lovely and showed us everything in the apartment. It's spotless and decorated to a very high standard. Extremely convenient for shops and bars too. We can't wait to return we've booked already Tavistock is lovely very friendly people too.
Loved the decor, location was great right in the middle of Tavistock and the food we had at breakfast and
dinner was amazing. My husband said it was the tastiest cooked breakfast he had ever had in an hotel.
The staff were very professional and friendly.
We were on a Dartmoor walking trip finishing in Tavistock. Perfect venue to end the trip, the hotel was easy to check in/out off and the room was spotless, facilities better than most more expensive hotel chains. I would happily stay again.
Loved the situation,
Perfect if you want the countryside and to be not far from Tavistock.
Loved the decor(all new )
100% clean.
Bed comfortable
Kitchen well stocked
Hosts excellent, friendly and full of information about the local area
Didn't have breakfast due to covid but location was excellent. Hotel is right in Tavistock but far enough away from the main square which helps when trying to sleep at night.
Lovely spacious room, lovely and clean.
A well stocked kitchenette also has lots of information for eating out.
Tavistock was lovely especially the market.
Reception staff absolutely fantastic - they couldn't do more for you. Location fantastic too and good quality breakfast. Hotel parking facilities also good.
