Lewtrenchard is set in beautiful, tranquil grounds. The interior is full of character and charm-very much an English manor. The bedding was crisp and the bed comfortable, the bathroom was beautifully decorated, and the room very clean and well appointed. The staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. The food was exceptional-flavours were sophisticated and balanced, with high quality produce showcased. Each dish was a work of art.

We had a perfect stay from check in. We were welcomed by Nicky and shown to our lovely accommodation. The rooms in the lodge building were spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The bathroom was modern with a very powerful shower. Our evening meals and breakfast cooked by John were exceptional. The hotel is in a quiet location with countryside views and has plenty of free onsite parking.

Found lots of independent shops around the seafront & harbour areas - some lovely places to eat as well. The main high street was looking a bit run down, although there were still some different shops/galleries. Really enjoyed the Ghost Tour - Mark was really knowledgeable about the area

Exmouth sandy beach is great.

Exmouth sandy beach is great. All the cafes along the promenade, bars and cafes in town. Exmouth has a variety of live music, which is enjoyed by all ages. Love the view across to Dawlish, seen from the beach. Like walking around the (now) marina area and looking up the estuary. Dogs allowed at either end of beach during summer. Good bus service around town and trains in to Exeter. Boat and fishing trips from harbour.

Sidmouth is a beautiful place to visit.

Sidmouth is a beautiful place to visit. Lots of local shops and gift shops. We were near the River Sid and the reason it is called Sidmouth is because the sea joins the River which is amazing. It has grey pebble beach. We had a seaview from the hotel and in the middle of the night, I woke up hearing the waves and what I saw was a beautiful sight seeing the waves one after another. I highly recommend visiting Sidmouth. We drove to Portwrinkle beach (an hour and a half drive) and that is beautiful too.

We loved Dartmouth - had only visited for a few hours before. We picked this location as we were on our way to Cornwall to meet family and set off a couple of days earlier to see what Dartmouth had to offer. It's a lovely town and we went on the river on the paddle steamer, which was great. Some lovely independent shops and an arts centre (didn't have time to visit the cinema there, but had we been there another night, I may have done!). The restaurants were fab - we ate at Rockfish and The Crafty Mussel - both were amazing. We visited nearby Totnes for a few hours which was really worth a visit.

Easy to access the property.

Easy to access the property. The walk along the coast into Salcombe was okay but don’t use the footpath (just after the castle) as it gets very step and difficult to climb (I did it but I am 83 years old). Devon roads are very narrow and difficult to pass oncoming vehicles. I am amazed what I did without damaging my car! I did go via South Pool via East Portlemouth and Start Point so I was a bit adventurous but it was all great!

Its a quiet place, with some pubs, bars and restaurants.

Its a quiet place, with some pubs, bars and restaurants. Quirky shops and the general shopping as in most places. Walking along the River Taw is pleasant, with some nice parks. If you are looking for hustle and bustle this isn't it. If you are looking to unwind and take a few slow and quiet days then this would be a good place to stay and exlpore. There are enough natural places to visit near by and the coast and beaches are about 30 minutes drive. Highly recommend LUSH restaurant in Barnstaple a really good 9/10 great food, nice cocktails. Right down the other end of town is a clean and tidy cafe called Barnsaple Coffee shop, huge doorstep sandwiches and the food smell great, staff helpful and friendly. Good choice and not too crowded.

Bideford is one of our favourite places on the north Devon...

Bideford is one of our favourite places on the north Devon coast. It is an ancient fishing port that dates back to medieval times. It is compact but has a decent choice of shops, restaurants and tea rooms/coffee houses. The main road into the town which follows the estuary makes for a lovely walk. There is also the opportunity to visit Lundy Island by boat from the harbourside, which we strongly recommend.
