The bedroom was large, clean and comfortable. I received a lovely greeting on arrival and was offered a choice of food. Fabulous bar area with a roaring fire. Breakfast was perfect. I was also given a takeaway coffee when I was heading home.

I was in Newbury for work at the local showground which was a short 10min drive.
In the evenings we had the pleasure of visiting the local pubs and restaurants of which there are plenty for all tastes and budgets (Italian, That, English, Turkish, Spanish etc) including take always too.
You can stroll along the river, take in the theatre or shopping areas, ideal for a weekend trip with a partner or friends as the racecourse is also close by.

Small market town that has essential shopping and even a family owned department store. There are many walks along the canal or small river that runs around the town. Visit Highclere ( the home of Downton Abbey) or just chill out in the surrounding countryside.

Newbury was a bit of a revelation.
Newbury was a bit of a revelation. To be honest all we needed was a place to eat as we had opted not to eat in the Hotel. There were plenty to choose from on the high street and we opted for a Lebanese which had beautiful food with good service. The high street itself was closed but we had a wander around and discovered what would be a very vibrant centre in the day time
Generally a very nice hotel. Very good, friendly and efficient staff. All the staff we met were polite, cheerful and very helpful. The hotel was very clean and spacious. Our room was a little dated, but well appointed and served its purpose well. All the food we had in the restaurant really was excellent, with a superb selection to chose from.
The hotel was near to where we planed to meet family in Newbury so was convenient for our stay.
The Furze Bush is your perfect English Country Inn! The pub is adorable, the breakfast was perfect and cooked to order!
We enjoyed drinks on the lawn, played with dogs that others who’d stopped in for a pint brought!
Room was comfortable and spacious compared with city hotel rooms.
It is also just a 10 min ride from Highclere Castle. We booked a roundtrip with “Take me home James” car service and these whole event was exceptional!
Stayed at hotel as visiting Newbury races, the hotel is on the course, the staff were excellent, facilities fine for 2 nights, big bed, breakfast decent enough for the price. Food in the evening basic but filling enough. If you're visiting Newbury races and don't fancying travelling in the morning to or evening from the course this ideal, it does of course bump the price up on racedays but of course that is to be expected.
My wife and I, along with my parents, had a great stay at the Dolphin. The hotel is full of character and the staff was super friendly. We did not eat at the pub restaurant, but took advantage of their great beer selection. The bathrooms in both of our rooms appeared to be newly renovated and were very nice. The rest of the room was great as well, with decor seeming to have been recently updated.
This is a lovely hotel.Right in the centre of Newbury. Our breakfast, was included in the price.Which,I have to say, was amazing. The best tasting sausages I have had in a long time. The bed was very comfy, & towels were changed every day.The shower was a bit hit & miss, going hot, & cold. But,other than that,a great stay overall.
The restaurant is a "Greek Plate" - the food is all Greek and is very good, with huge helpings. They provided a " doggy bag" for the salad I could not finish.
The staff were helpful in guiding me to the parking space behind the hotel which I missed first time round.
The only downside is that they do not provide breakfast!
The staff are so friendly and the food was excellent - it's a beautiful setting so close to the Watermill Theatre and Newbury. We were doing two private painting classes with the lovely local and very talented artist - Gail Davis (www.artgaildavid.com) and the hotel was so handy for that.
Staff friendly and welcoming. Room was a good size and very clean. No problems parking in hotel car park.
Good location for restaurants, bars and shops in Newbury. We went for the Ladbrokes Winter Carnival at Newbury Racecourse and it took us about 25 minutes to walk to the track.
This is a fabulous hotel and my go-to when travelling to Newbury with work. Every little detail is carefully thought out. The rooms, albeit on the small side, are truly beautiful and the beds are probably THE most comfortable hotel beds I've ever come across. Great staff too!
location is brilliant, right in town centre, good value and its a spoons so breakfast and drinks are good prices. all in all a cracking day/night away. if we ever come to Newbury again this will be the 1st hotel I look to book.
The hotel was part of a golf complex set in absolutely beautiful surroundings, the staff were friendly and helpful and the dining exceptional. The cost of the hotel was very reasonable considering the location and hotel.
It is close to Newbury but in the countryside. It is a self-contained apartment, with microwave, 'fridge, toaster and cutlery and crockery. A large and varied amount of breakfast food including milk were provided.
Stayed in King Charles 1.. what can I say "wow". Great room. Love the fact that it's in the courtyard. Amazing size. Stayed in a lot of hotels and this is my favourite. Will be here again now Next month.
Location, meals and layout of bedroom. There were a number of unexpected extras, e.g sloe gin, bottled water and pillow spray which demonstrated that the hotel was very much customer-focused.
Good location in the town of Newbury. Comfortable beds and clean rooms, Shower was Ok and the free wi-fi an added bonus. Decent price compared to the hotels around.
