Location great for access to Cathedral, high street, eating places. Right on very busy main road but our room facing the side entrance was very quiet. Reception staff very helpful. Bed, pillows comfortable and well functioning modern bathroom. Nice to have an actual window in a bathroom!

A charming, characterful town, full of interesting shops, plenty of restaurants to choose from, and pubs galore! Of course the jewel in the crown is the cathedral, which is most impressive. Well worth a visit, but be prepared for the constant traffic jam up Holywell Hill.

St. Albans is a large town/ small city, with a good number of interesting old buildings, including a medieval bell tower, and several museums, including the excellent museum of Roman artefacts on the far side of the large park which drops down from the cathedral. The cathedral is a must if you are into old buildings, with its Norman tower made from Roman bricks among many other features. I was also made very welcome when I joined them for worship. The town has very good pubs, cafes and restaurants, and an extensive street market on certain days. The town itself probably merits a leisurely weekend stay if you enjoy lingering in the cafes, but the Thameslink trains make a day in London very easy, and, if you like old planes, a visit to the De Havilland museum ( no. 84 bus from the town centre ) is well worth it ( rather long walk up the drive from the bus stop, but there is parking at the museum if you take your car. )

St Albans is a very friendly town with people opening doors and being kind and considerate.
We ate in whetherspoons in their Tudor barns and they also had an outdoor area to eat and drink if no rain! The pricing of everything we ate and drank was of good value and was very clean.
There was lots of places we wanted to visit but most of our holiday it rained! But we did visit the shops which are all different and have different price ranges and styles.
Beautiful historic property backing onto the lake in Varalamium Park.
Great location for walks into the lovely town center, around the lake and to the cathedral and Roman Museum.
Lovely atrium-style Breakfast Room, with buffet items plus selection from hot menu, along with coffee and tea served to your table. Excellent breakfast! Staff very friendly and professional. Nice views of the lake.
Lovely Lounge area with fireplace, as well as a cozy bar with friendly service.
Beautiful hotel and spa full of character. The grounds were smaller than expected took roughly 10 minutes to walk around. The spa was lovely. Clean changing areas and poolside. Our double room was a good size bigger than expected and the bed was huge. Breakfast was great with a good mix and great vegetarian options. All the staff we encountered were polite and friendly. Rooms were well equipped with Elemis toiletries. Close to centre of St Albans.
Beautiful hotel and surrounds. The decor and finish of the hotel was beautiful and individual to each room.
The bar and seating area was plentiful for a quick drink before heading out.
Parking was great with plenty of space.
Staff were friendly and very welcoming. I would highly recommend this hotel for its location in St Albans with an array of shops, restaurants and bars in walking distance.
Beautiful property, clean, well presented and welcoming. Located in the lovely town of Saint Albans which is only a few miles down the road from the Harry Potter Studios Tour. Perfect place for anyone who is visiting London/surround area. Viv was an amazing host, and we hope to stay there again when my wife and I visit the HP Studios in the future.
A very quirky hotel. We loved reading about the history of the building! It's got an unusual layout and uneven floors but it's all part of the charm. The big bath and four poster bed were lovely. Check in/out was easy, as was parking. It is a bit tight to get to the carpark but this is to be expected.
This is a traditional, centuries-old coaching inn in a good city centre location, with its own car parking. It has lots of character, including wonky floors, sloping ceilings and creaking stairs. Location is good, close to the abbey and having its own car park is a real good point.
Very nice, super clean and spacious apartment. Well equipped with everything you need for a short or long stay. Good for individuals, great for families. Good connection by bus to city centre. I can recommend it to everyone for a pleasant and peaceful stay in St Albans.
breakfast decent, area is convenient has stores outside and a bus stop right outside the hotel to get out of the town. But apart from that you will need to go everywhere with that one bus/taxi and then transfer to the city by train or tube.
Short walk to the Cathedral and an excellent choice of city centre restaurants and historic pubs. Very spacious room and exceptionally comfortable bed. Nice to stay somewhere with a bit of history and character. Would recommend.
This was a lovely hotel. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was great! Beds were comfy and shower powerful. What more could you want!
