Exceptionally helpful staff. When one of our party left his electric toothbrush the staff arranged to have it delivered to the next island. We lived the beautiful marble tables sculpted from Tinos

The hotel is lovely, the staff is very kind and welcoming. Our room and its terrace were fantastic. A very short walk from great restaurants and the port. We booked here because of the hotel location and its pool, and we wish we could've stayed longer!

This hotel was absolutely breathtaking. The room was amazing with a water view and our terrace. The staff was amazing, the food was absolutely delicious, and the weather was gorgeous while we were there. We felt like royalty at this resort. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating to whatever we needed. I chose to include breakfast with our stay, and I believe this is the best decision I could have made outside of extending our stay by another day. :)

Beautiful town to decompress and slow down. There’s not that much to do but that’s the beauty of it. Anywhere you eat will be excellent or at the very least above par so there’s no disappointment there.
Definitely my favourite of all my destinations so far (minus the ferry experience - they always seem to run late)

Unusual island for Greece due to no cars, motorbikes allowed—we loved it. (Donkeys and mules carry heavy loads) Small city of Idra totally walkable. Fantastic small restaurants there especially a block or so away from the port. Expect to pay more for water taxis to get to other parts of the island. Be sure to visit nearby cultural-art focused centers/museums. 2-3 days max unless you want quiet and privacy to write your novel or compose music. Clothing and souvenir shops are much more expensive than 10 islands we have visited over the years. No airport also keeps tourist # lower than other islands. We saw many families with young children, couples of all ages, and single travelers taking in the island’s beauty. There are no beautiful sandy beaches to enjoy, though. Mandraki, the one sandy beach had dull brown sand, super calm water and appeared to be “owned” by a 5-star resort. There were no signs that this beach was public. But you can go through the resort gate and buy something to eat or drink. It’s 2km NE of the port. The walking path is paved and has beautiful seaside views, including the large golden Apollo wind-spinner. Very romantic island.

This was a great place to visit in April for a quiet and relaxing vacation. There were plenty of tourist in the port area but we didn’t see many people in on the various walking trails on the island.
The beaches were small but beautiful. It was a little windy but the temperature was just right in the mid-day sun.
There were several topless bathers at the various beaches and few children.
The beaches have lots of slippery round rock near the shore so it is difficult to walk into the water. The water was clear and cool and the waves were mild.
I didn’t think much of the dining options in Hydra so we purchased fresh produce at the various grocers near the port.
The tap water is sourced from desalination plants so make sure to get plenty of bottled water (to drink) from the local grocery stores.
They really do utilize donkeys to carry heavy loads from the port. They often leave a mess on the walkways so make sure to watch your step.
The island has beautiful inland views and ocean views. The elevation change is mild so it is easy to take long walk through the various trails.
We had no trouble traveling to and from the island. The port is small so it is easy to find your ferry.
We loved our stay in Hydra. It was just the relaxing trip that we were seeking.

Fun island to explore. No cars allowed! We only had1 night there due to our itinerary, so this fit the bill due to close proximity to Athens. Had a great sunset dinner at Sunset Grill. Tour of the Lazaros Koundouriotis Mansion was awesome, as was home of artist Tetsis.

Hydra is a wonderful place for scenery-gazing and long quiet walks (soundtrack: goat bells, cocks crowing and the occasional donkey bray) - past the monasteries, to the peak of Mount Eros, or across and a scramble down to Limnioniza Beach which we had entirely to ourselves... Our two best meals were both at Techne, where the food is technically accomplished, harmonious and subtle. Jeff Koons' Apollo Wind Spinner at the Deste Project Space Slaughterhouse is a fun diversion on the road to Mandraki. And the many cats seem by and large in good health and well tended thanks to Hydra Ark.

Charming island in a 2 hour ferry ride from Piraeus.
Charming island in a 2 hour ferry ride from Piraeus. Lots of waterside cafes and other restaurants in the center. Nice easy walks along the water, or steeper hikes up the hillside. Many shops. A good place for relaxing.
The coolest, boutique style hotel ever. HUGE rooms, so modern and spacious. The owner was so friendly, helpful and chilled. They even had a help yourself fridge full of wine and just trusted you to
let them know which one you picked to pay at the end. Incredible roof top sitting area with 360 views of the port and mountains. A gorgeous, resident cat chilled in the lobby and was happy to give cuddles. So picturesque and a great location, walking distance to delicious restaurants. So happy we stayed here!
The guesthous is like 7min walking away from the harbour, kind of at the edge of the town, so it’s location is quietBig room! Nice view from the terraces. Water kettle and refrigerator in the room. The shower is seperated from the toilet with a wall, so the bathroom doesn‘t get completely wet like usually in greece. The water is very hot. The owner was very nice and already waited for us. As we forgot our toothpaste the owner was helpful in providing us with a small toothpastetube.
We loved our stay at Hydra Icons, our room - the Sophia Loren - was very comfortable, the shower powerful and hot! The terraces gave a wonderful view of the port. We'd be very happy to stay again. Many thanks for your help Yiannis! Note to guests with a lot of luggage, maybe think of getting a donkey to take you there as there are quite a few steps - but that is the case with mos
t hotels on this beautiful island!!
The two proprietors are natives of Hydra, a font of information, extremely welcoming and very helpful. The hotel is a beautifully renovated building right on the harbour front, that miraculously looks even better in real life than the photos. The home cooked breakfast was a feast and we could take it up to our balcony to eat while we watched the world go by beneath
Mistral Hotel is a family run business where care and attention to the guest experience is superb. Traditional Greek hotel tastefully decorated. Each morning we had a different selection of Greek dishes for breakfast, all home made and served in the well maintained garden.
We would recommend this hotel for those wishing to experience Hydra at its best.
This hotel is an institution, an old sponge factory turned into a hotel. No wonder it won a European Heritage Award 20 years ago. Some may judge some of the rooms a bit small or rudimentary, but that is part of the Bratsera adventure. I come here if there’s availability on all my Hydra visits. Friendly and competent staff. Excellent bteakfasts.
Wonderful hotel, the location, the service was very good Mrs Rebecca was there to help us and always with a smile, We liked it very much and will always be in our preferences when we return to the wonderful island of Hydra
3 minutes away from the port
1 minute from the supermarket
The location was perfect steps away from harbor. My room was charming overlooking bougainvillea flowers -quintessential Greece! Kettle coffee, tea and large water bottle complimentary in room! AC - everything to love. Rooftop views!. Nice helpful proprietor! I Would return !
The hotel is lovely, the staff is very kind and welcoming. Our room and its terrace were fantastic. A very short walk from great restaurants and the port. We booked here because of the hotel location and its pool, and we wish we could've stayed longer!
The room was incredibly comfortable. The hotel had a lot of history and antiques to enjoy.
There is an upper floor balcony that over looks the hills of Hydra, making for spectacular views.
And the breakfast buffet was all delicious as well.
A lovely small hotel in the heart of Hydra. A short walk to all the nearby restaurants, galleries, shops & beaches. Great staff who organised for us to check in early. Comfortable bed & good shower. Highly recommended.
Demetrius was so kind and helpful. The room was compact but comfortable and had all we needed. A lovely little spot a quick walk from the harbour. We loved our stay at the Sidra Hotel Hydra.
