Queens Leriotis Hotel, Scorpios Sea Side Hotel, and The Alex Monte Kastella got great room view-related reviews from travelers in Piraeus.
We went there a day earlier to join our cruise boat and stayed 4 days after the cruise to look at a few of the islands. Great location, close to the ferries, easy to get around and as I said great taverna next door.
A great place to take a few extra days after a cruise or for island hopping. We took day trips to Egina, Hydra and Poros. Easy to get to the ferries, only a few minutes walk, remember to take ID. There is a great taverna next door, with live music and terrific people working there.
Piraeus is a great place to stay before/after a cruise as it very close to the port. There are nice areas to walk and restaurants in the area. It is not such a busy tourist area as around Acropolis.
Piraeus speaks loud to the general feeling that one gets from visiting Athenas: sound and environmental pollution is everywhere you look. Great University in Piraeus, with a great body of teachers and students - but the city itself needs proper attention from the government. Animal Organizations should act in the area for there are unspayed stray cats everywhere you look. I wish I had better comments to leave, yet, with respect to honesty, the city needs attention and some reforms for it is obvious to everyone coming from East Europe that the litter mentality is very far behind. I hope I can see a cleaner, thus healthier, city next time I visit.
Food! The food was exceptional and affordable. Everyone speaks fluent English and they make you feel you belong. We went there in February, so I recommend you dress warm because of the wind. You don't need transportation but I suggest you buy a tram ticket. I suggest you buy the one that costs about 20 euros, it includes the transportation to and from the airport and unlimited passage in between for 72 hours. Should you go there I recommend you try Saganaki at Papafigos Rakadiko.
We flew in from London and decided to stay in Piraeus so that we could be close to the ferries out to the islands. It was a good location for that purpose, we stayed in a quality hotel just near the port and walked easily to the ferry the next morning. All across Greece, taxi drivers want to deal in cash (so check a few sources like hotels to see what the correct rate should be to the airport, for example) but they are very helpful and grateful for tips. We walked through the streets at 8pm from our hotel to the old port area without concern - the place has a lot of grafitti and the ferry gates are not 100% simple to navigate but overall it was a good place to stay in transit.
Stayed at the Piraeus Port hotel for 1 night when arriving from the islands on route to Athens airport. The hotel is ideal for that purpose, it is a short walk from both the port and the metro and train stations. The hotel has been renovated throughout and I found the room comfortable, with plenty of power outlets and complementary tea/coffee. Breakfast was a fantastic buffet with cold and hot options for only 10 euros. Finally, the staff on reception were very helpful and friendly. Would absolutely stay again.
This hotel exceeded my expectations in every respect. It was just a place near the port I could rest my head as I had an early ferry, but could happily have stayed a few extra nights. It is modern, clean, and significantly nicer than many of the 4* hotels I have stayed at in Athens. The free shuttle service is amazing and the staff are really friendly and accommodating. The rooms are clean and modern and even have a few luxuries a like a Nespresso machine. I would highly recommend this hotel.
For what we needed this worked. We had to make a last minute plan change due to the strike the day before, and needed a place to sleep until our ferry in the morning. If you are only looking for a place to sleep then this hotel will work as it is right across from the port. The staff at checkin was very friendly, and you have to walk bast them on a stairway when every you enter or leave, so that adds a sense of safety and security to the place.
Staff was exceptional. Arranged to hold luggage until room was available which facilitated us visiting Athens. Staff even called hop on and off bus to pick us us near hotel as well as arrange transportation to the airport. Breakfast was ample with a large variety of choices and equally friendly staff. Hotel is close to Piraeus port for cruise ships and shuttle craft. Shuttle craft are easily within walking distance.
We stayed here for one night before an early ferry and it was ideal. Very cheap, 5 min walk from the port, clean and nice staff. I put off getting to the hotel earlier because I thought it might be uncomfortable and not a nice area but Piraeus looked nice and there were lots of amenities around, we were very satisfied with our stay.
The location is perfect; it's near to everything you wish to do in the sea are and in Piraeus. The metro is a couple of meters away, the port to the islands are steps away from the hotel. It's surrounded by so many mini markets, the fish markets and fish restaurants. This a bus stop also right in front of the hotel!
It is yet another boutique type hotel with small elevator, awkward setup stairs and access to property. However, the location is very close to port and all the restaurants around the port, which makes up for most of the shortcomings. 24 hours concierge makes it a breeze to check in/out. Price also helps.
Perfect location near the port for a stopover when travelling out to the islands. A comfortable hotel with helpful and friendly staff. A good variety of food for breakfast at a reasonable price. There is also a rooftop restaurant which is also reasonably priced
Exceeded our expectations. Modern hotel very clean, convenient for rail station, tram, metro and port of Piraeus. Excellent breakfast and very friendly service from Chichi and Ruby at reception.
Clean and modern hotel very handy for the port for ferry departures. Very helpful and polite staff at check in. Relaxed rooftop terrace where you can sit and bring food/drinks.
Comfortable basic hotel close to the bus station, restaurants, and ocean. We chose this hotel because the airport bus would stop here and in the morning we could take our cruise.
The staff were so helpful and the location was amazing restaurants near the port and the hotel room was comfortable as well. I would come back again
The hotel was in a great location for the port and also the Athens airport bus Tidy room , no frills , hot shower and a really comfy bed
