Must rent a car as local bus doesn't work well & limited to small area. Lack of signs for pick up along route, drivers do t want to stop or explain..when I waited for 30 min, bus did nor see me waiting i guess ...not sure.
Try to get info. At port office for buses, lady bit impatient & not understanding me..I left.
Limited routes & access. Car is best way.
Beach was nice.. after 30 min walk there. People nice overall. Other tourist most helpful, willing to say hello etc.
I find, everywhere, restaurants quite pushy with " sit down & order" wish I could simply read outside menu with out being approached this way.
Naxos hasserious problems with starving cats. Shop owners..feed their cats but every where else is so sad to see. No animal shelter..man said they just put them down instead of caring for them..heart breaking. I left few bags of food at resort for man to help 3 6 week old kittens.. I wanted to brg home but is 21 day wait on their health passport. Sad

Very relaxing destination with great choice of sandy beaches to ensure you have a wind free experience. Would recommend a sailing day trip and kayaking, scooter hire to explore the island is cheap with safe roads to travel on. Huge choice of restaurants and very friendly reception experienced at all those we ate at.

The old town was just a maze of beautiful old building and up to the castle. The castle itself was amazing just like the old medieval style keep/castle it was a walled old town. Apparently the properties inside are owned by the Catholic Church, who are in the process or rebuilding/maintaining the area. It is well worth a visit through the maze or winding streets.
Loved Naxos old side especially and it is beautiful and well worth a visit. ❤️
Oh and bar 48 is a great place for refreshment 😜 especially the view from the rooftop seating area 🍹🍸
Naxos is easy to get around on the hangout or promenade but the maze of steers to the castle is not for everyone. But…. There is a lift if you can find it

Naxos Chora is wonderful!
Naxos Chora is wonderful! It has a great Esplanade with cafes, bars, shops & tavernas. The Portara & views from there were fantastic. The old town is quite large & a maze of streets, small houses & apartments in old, renovated buildings. Loved the architecture of the wall around it with gates & glimpses to the blue Aegean Sea. Interesting small museum & a great discovery for me was a incredible roof top terrace/cafe/bar next to it called Avaton. The tower dates from 1739.
Liked the view from our room across Naxos Chora and towards Paros. Our room was well equipped and spacious. We liked the peace and quiet after a day out and an evening spent in town. Irini was a very attentive host and checked with us at least once a day to ensure everything was all right. We did not take breakfast every day, but the breakfast offer was excellent with a variety of options available. We actually liked walking to and from Studios Petros and it's not far to local shops, the buses to the beaches and to Chora itself.
We spent 6 days with our 3 year-old daughter in this hotel and everything was perfect! The swimming pool was amazing (especially for kids) the room was very comfortable (although a bit in the small side) and the staff was especially helpful, in particular Stella at reception.
It was super convenient to rent a car on the day and within Naxos Chora, everything was at most a 15-minute walk.
I have to admit a biased view as I have been coming to Lygdamis Hotel over the past 25 years. It never fails to deliver a warm welcome. The studios are very comfortable, clean and well equipped. The location is perfect. The family and staff are warm and friendly. In recent years the property has been refurbished making it brighter and lighter.
We've visited all parts of Naxos Chora from Studios Tsakas. All distances were carried out by foot, even with a stroller. Specially the distance to the cosy beach of Agios Georgios was surprisingly short. We stayed in April 2024.
Studios Matina was great. It was clean and safe. Thanasis and Matina were helpful and caring. The location is perfect, close to the sea, the bus stops and the Naxos Chora. It was value for money and I highly recommend it.
