Interesting town I expected it to be more picturesque but a good chunk, maybe a third of the town's buildings, are abandoned and derelict which really brings the whole place down. The Olive Yard was perfect!
The Olive Yard was perfect! It was beautifully decorated and very clean. The breakfast basket was the best we had in Greece! The hotel staff washed, dried and neatly folded our laundry. It was very much appreciated, especially when you're on a road trip around Greece and don't often have access to laundry facilities. The staff were so friendly and I enjoyed meeting and chatting with them. Beautiful local beach which is a short walk from The Olive Yard. Perfection...and I will definitely stay there again.

Gythio is a working small port with a pleasant promenade...
Gythio is a working small port with a pleasant promenade lined by good restaurants. It seems to have remained unchanged. As it was the last night of a longer driving trip, we didn’t have the time to see other interesting sites, such as the museum and shipwreck, of the town. Breakfast is wonderful and plentiful. The rooms were neat. You have private beach access and a pool. When my mother forgot her glasses at the hotel, the staff was kind enough to ship the glasses to us. We did not even call them. They called us first.
