Areopolis is quaint and has an active night life (bars, coffee shops). The bar AULA was excellent with nice drinks and music. We did not eat well in Areopolis (Mavromichaleiko served us uncooked cheese pie and had very poor service), but Kourmas at Limeni right on the sea (just 5km away ) is an absolute MUST. Also a drive to Stoupa, Agios Nikolaos and Kalogria Beach (30-40mins drive) is an excellent day trip. We ate at Agios Nikolaos at Elli's taverna which was EXCELLENT. Kalogria beach is SUPERB and Kalogria restaurant run by Christos is EXCELLENT, right ON the beach.BASILIKIGreece - 10Scored 10

It is such a cute lively town - the stony buildings, small taverns and cafes. It is located in Mani, my favourite part of Greece. We travelled with car, and in September it was easy to find parking places. We also visited Limani, a beach/village 10 min drive under. The sea was great, you can even spot turtles there! We took some pasteries from the local bakery near the town's main church! Did not regret it 🙂.Katja - 10Scored 10
A romantic town, I preferred it to every other small towns...
A romantic town, I preferred it to every other small towns in the region including others to the north and south. While others were closer to the water, they didn't have the charm. Most had the main road running through the middle, while Areopoli had the road run on the northern edge, which allowed the streets to be shut down at night (possibly just the weekends?) For pedestrians only and turned into a lively romantic location with many restaurants and shops. There is a large public parking square that you can leave your car near the Petrounis hotel. And if you'd like to swim, Limeni village, the most picturesque village I've ever seen is down the hill, a 4 minute drive away, which has a nice swimming area. (Stay in Areopoli though as Limeni is basically made up of a few stone houses and sparse restaurants.)GrantUnited States of America - 10Scored 10

A magical place! Very atmospheric, different, typical! Charming cafes and shops. Very typical taverns, cozy and reasonable prices. Old oven for delicious bread and snacks! We had dinner at Palaiopolis Tavern. The service was fast. It was tasty ! Aeropoli is a very historic and beautiful town! You must visit it! Give it enough time!

Main restaurant street was interesting but variable in terms of quality, but picturesque. Well served by local supermarkets if you are self catering Not much to do in the town so a car is essential to explore. The caves of Diros are fantastic. 20 minute drive to Skoutari is well worth it. We stayed at the ground floor which is a Kamara (old cellar) which was completely renovated. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, aestetically decorated and very practical. The appartment has a lovely covered terrace where you can enjoy eating or having a drink. The house is situated near the central street of Areopolis and very close to the minicipal parking. It is a beautiful hotel in the centre of Areopolis but still very quiet and peaceful. The bedroom was very comfortable with everything you need. The highlight of our stay was our meeting with the owner, Petrounis. He was so welcoming, friendly and accommodating. Our trip in the Mani will stay forever associated with Petrounis and his hospitality.
