I liked the harbour area for strolling and eating with the market areas for shopping. Knossos was a wonderful experience as was the Heraklion Archaeological Museum. Give yourself two to fours hours to really see Knossos, depending on the crowds and three to four hours to see everything in the museum.

The town/city has many new buildings after WW2.
The town/city has many new buildings after WW2. There is an extensive shopping area with many restaurants and bars, the older buildings are either being replaced or renovated, but the outlying suburbs need development and some proper Town & Country planning application. The boundaries between domestic, retail, industry & commerce need greater definition.
Great potential for tourism, with areas of domestic and tourist housing showing signs of its artistic residents "flare".

This is good for a weekend trip, but if you are staying longer hire a car and tour, landing here and returning via Chana. We took out the extra insurance via Booking.com, very wise because the vehicle was hit by a driver while parked, who drove off. Due to the state of the roads and the increased traffic this is common, there was another couple in the hire office that had also been hit while parked. Standards of driving in Greece are poor. Booking.com paid out within 24 hours of the claim. This was a return visit to Crete after 20 years. The nation is in steep decline with appalling infrastructure and an unhappy population. We will not return.
We love this hotel. It is so convenient for the airport, yet in a quiet area, with easy parking.
This was our second stay here. We used it as a start and end point for our two-week tour all over Crete and we were more than happy to be returning for our last two nights before flying home.
Everything was super comfortable, spotless and stylish, and the Batoo Cafe was excellent.
We felt really cared for by all the staff. Thank you!
The DOM boutique is located in a perfect location of Heraklion centre. Just few seconds walk and you will find a supermarket, lot of restaurants and cafes. It's all that you need. The hotel itself is highly maintained and the employees are the best part. They are very helpful and kind people. The breakfast buffet is also very interesting and scrumptious. One of the best hotel I have stayed so far.
Nice, clean hotel and great value for money! The staff were so friendly and the location was great near the waterfront, a parking builiding nearby that costs 8 euro for 24 hours and it is a short stroll to the old centre. It had a mini fridge, comfy beds, nice bathroom with plenty of towels. It exceeded my expectations for a basic 4-bed room. I would definitely recommend!
Helen was an amazing host. She was available at all times and ensured we were able to check in without issue. She offered to call a taxi for me which was very helpful. The place is on point for the price. haves everything you need and is super CLEAN. if I come back to Crete I will again use this as an airport staging hotel. Thank you Helen.
The hotel was spotlessly clean, and the balcony we had was huge. There was a large selection of hot and cold food, which was without doubt the best we've had in Greece for many years. Plenty of really nice restaurants nearby, and a few minutes walk into the centre. The beach is about 30 mins walk.Staff were really helpful and friendly
Very nice hotel in a convenient location. Extremely kind and helpful staff. There is a parking nearby (10€/day) or another one for free by the harbour. The city centre is less than 10 mins away walking. Clean and spacious room, with fridge and AC. Rich breakfast at the last floor with a beautiful view of the harbour. Recommended!
Jet2 messed up my flight contacted hotel non refundable but no charge for new date-super young lady on recep. late shift was so nice to deal with - Item I wanted at breakfast cold so they cooked another. Tea coffee available downstairs at breakfast room.
Would use hotel again if flying in or out of Crete
The hotel was great, the room was very clean and comfortable and the staff was very helpful. The hotel location was also great, a 10 minute walk to the archaeology museum and city centre, and about 5 minutes to the bus station and the port, also the bus stop to the airport is very near.
The front desk staff were extremely helpful! They helped me figure out transportation around Crete and the woman at the front desk also helped me call a taxi. The front desk also watched my luggage for quite a few hours after I had checked out and made sure everything stayed safe!
Convenient location within walking distance of most sites in the centre. Staff were friendly. Convenient free parking arrangements with a parking station in the port area about a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Room was comfortable and the breakfast was quite good.
The breakfast was very good. We had the Crete breakfast and it was tasty. Our room was very modern and clean. The balcony had a nice view as well. The Hotel Manager and her staff were very friendly and helpful.
Staff really helpful and welcoming. Room well equipped and comfortable. Close to a supermarket and loads of bars and restaurants. Great location for one night as very near airport and had a late flight in.
The best accommodation during our trip in Crete. Very clean and stylish place, nice hosts making every effort to welcome you. Also, very useful tips for restaurants and Crete in general.
Excellent location and a great room at a very reasonable price. The staff was very friendly and helped tremendously with things to do in Crete. We hope to return someday!
The apartment was clean, there was no problem with parking, location was perfect: near airport, port, centre, shop and cafes. MC Donalds 3 mins by foot.
