LOVED this location in the cloud forest. Feels like you are just sitting in nature. Also, was hard to find place with room for our whole family (traveling with 5 of us). Their family room has this corner window that is amazing! Really enjoyed sitting out on the patio and listening to the insects and birds. One night it rained and we sat listening to thunder and watching rain. You drive down a dirt road, but it's well-maintained and we didn't have any trouble. Breakfast was nice Guatemalan traditional breakfast - eggs and beans or I think they offered an oatmeal option too. Went to Semuc Champey on day 2 from here and was great we didn't have to go through traffic in Coban to get going since it's already on that side of town.

We loved our stay at Boutique Casa Jose. The property was absolutely beautiful and filled with live flowers and nature everywhere within the walls of the property. We chose this hotel because it was just far enough outside of town (2 minutes by car) that we felt we were in our own private paradise. The location was perfect for us because it was close to town and also allowed us to get to around the area without ever seeing any traffic. Our room was perfect and clean with nice beds. Each room had a lovely mural in it depicting a different area of Guatemala that you could explore. The shower was wonderful with great pressure and lots of hot water. The entire staff was wonderful to us from the moment we arrived at the property and gave us wonderful insight into the area and the many activities we could do. There was a large open area to enjoy nature outside and read a book or just relax after coming back from a day of adventure. We will most certainly be returning soon and will definitely be staying here again.

Wonderful little oasis in the jungle just outside Coban. If you plan to visit Orchigonia and/or if you prefer a quiet place near Coban, it’s perfect! Beds are pretty hard but Otto and family were lovely, the food was good and it was a perfect first stop for us after an overnight flight. Just ask the bus to drop you at Orchigonia turnoff.

COBAN is a very beautiful town and there is an Ancient Cathedral in front of the Central Park. There's a local market where you can find handwoven typical clothing and other handcrafted products made by the natives. There are good restaurants also, like HDR (Hacienda Don Rafa), El PE-NASCAL, where you can order dishes of Mayan origins, like KACK-IK for example. There are places of extreme beauty near Coban with plenty of very low price transportation. You can visit the Central Market located only 6 minutes on the outskirts of Coban. SO, TREAT YOURSELF BY VISITING COBAN!!!

This is a great jumping off point for all of the department's offerings. We opted to stay close in town since it was a bit rainy and driving in Guatemala can be long and weary. We visited Las Victorias National Park and the Orchid conservation gardens. We loved both even in the rain. Easy to get around by foot or by car. People here are very friendly and hospitable, plenty of dining options in every price range, even found a treasure of a coffee shop La Estacion. We loved our stay and can't wait to return!
The staff were all helpful and nice. The dorm is just a set of bunk beds so I had a private room for the night. Warm shower. The breakfast was the best I've had at any hotel/hostel ever. There is a kitchen guests can use but they charge Q20 to use it. They helped me with the bus to Lanquín and transport from Lanquín to Antigua, but it would have been Q25 cheaper to book the transport to Antigua in Lanquín. And if you book a shuttle in Lanquín they pick you up and you don't have to go to the bus stop yourself.
the staff were excellent. super friendly, incredibly helpful with information including telling us where to go to see a Quetzal! Luis tried some English with us, and everyone was very patient with our mediocre Spanish. the hotel is under construction now, but it wasn’t bothersome. it’s already very nice and I think it’ll become a must visit hostel once they finish putting it together. the breakfast was some of the best I’ve had.
Really nice family and helpful with all our questions.
The kitchen is excellent.
The rooms are spacious and comfy.
The location is excellent, central and close to the main road but quiet.
Good wifi
It is possible to make it to Semuc Champey from here, it's a long day but there are direct buses to Lanquin from Transportes Martínez (get there early 6ish), and the last one to Cobán leaves Lanquin at 4pm.
A tranquil space in Coban. The courtyard garden and pergola was the perfect retreat for a few days. Hot showers, hooks and shelves to unpack a bit and a comfortable bed. The team was very friendly & helped me navigate the local bus to Biotopo Quetzal & Lanquin. Delicious local food and home baked cookies completed the family feel you get from Chapultepec.
The location is an easy walk to the Parque Central of Cobán. Interior of the hotel is very nice, built in a colonial Spanish villa style with an interior, well cared for, garden. Rooms are somewhat small, but nicely appointed. Hotel has it's own secure parking (a great plus anywhere in Guatemala, and particularly in Cobán)
Cleverly designed so that you feel in the forest while you´re practically in someone´s (beautiful) back yard. The owner, Miguel, and his staff are passionate about making you feel at home. It is outside Cobán, on the road to Chamelco, but there are frequent shuttle-buses passing on the road. Very good value for money.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The check-in process was easy and the rooms were basic but comfortable. The common areas were beautiful and we enjoyed our breakfast as well. They were able to provide fans for some white noise. Very quite location and free parking was close.
I like the hotel inside, it was clean rooms had good size, staff very friendly, the only thing from the outside doesn’t look like a nice hotel. Once you go inside is different I guess still in renovating.
It’s a centrally located hotel, suitable for a couple of nights. The staff were really kind and helpful, they even managed to get a last minute shuttle for me.
