Under no circumstances should anyone stay here. I have traveled to 30+ countries and have stayed in hundreds, if not thousands, of different properties during my travels, most of which I’ve booked through booking.com, and this is BY FAR the worse stay I've ever had anywhere. My husband and I stayed here in May 2024. From the moment we arrived, we had issues with the property. The property did not inform us in advance that when we arrived by car, we would encounter a gate that we could not get through and that had no buzzer to let them know that we’d arrived, so we were locked out from the start. The hotel also locks the street entrance door and despite buzzing and knocking for 15+ minutes, no one let us in. There were several other guests locked out at the same time because no one was at the front desk, and everyone was very frustrated. It says that this property has a hot tub, but they don't keep it heated, so it's actually a lukewarm tub. The hallways were kept dark at all times, which I later realized was a way for them to cut costs, which I'm sure is why they don't keep the hot tub heated either. There were cobwebs all over the light fixtures in the hallways and there was a huge clump of black hair on our shower wall. Our room was very warm as they don't air condition the rooms before you check in and we were informed by a sign on the wall that we could not control the air conditioning temperate. We could only press the off or on button. We turned the button on yet our room never became a comfortable temperature— it was always very warm. I cannot imagine staying here in summer because the heat and lack of ventilation would be unbearable.

There are amazing views over Pecs if , and that is a big if, the advertised views from your accommodation are real - often there is a view if you are in exactly the right room or part of the building, and if not, tough luck. I have been there before and loved it; but the very disappointing room this time tainted the experience. So pick your place carefully - eg. don't be beguiled with stories of fabulous views over the city - check for yourself, and consider carefully if you would rather have a great view or easy and quick access to the many fantastic squares and buildings and museums etc. downtown and near downtown. There are excellent and reasonable places right downtown that will be comfortable and allow you to enjoy the city.

Pécs is a lovely place in Hungary with an expansive cultural heritage. The Cathedral, Széchenyi square and Zsolnay quarter are just a few of the must see spots. You can have very good food and wine (or beer) in Király street. If you're feeling adventurous, Mecsek has the most amazing trails But even if you don't have whole day for hiking just make sure to visit Tettye and walk up to the observatory there. Pécs is doable by foot most of the times, but has very accessible bus service as well. You can buy tickets on the bus with cash (forint). Make sure to check the actual events (and book in advance) to experience the street market vibes, when all the best wineries of Hungary and traditional food stalls represent themselves. See you in Pécs!

Pecs is a terrific little picturesque town with heaps of interesting churches, a mosque, a synagogue, museums and ancient burial sites. Most things are very close by. On Sunday everything is closed except cafes and it's like a ghost town which is good for avoiding hordes of tourists. Pecs is neat as a pin and would probably win a tidy town contest. There's plenty of food places and our favorite was the Korheli pub. I'm glad we chose to stop here for a couple of nights.

Not a crowded city, plenty of things to see. Older waiters and cashiers don't really speak foreign languages, even basic stuff was hard to convey to them, so have that in mind. Younger ones are more fluent in that department.

Many of the sights -- the Csontvary Museum, the Cathedral, in particular, are within easy walking distance of the Fonix hotel, where I stayed. The city is the home of a university, so the streets were filled with students and other young people. My trip was a Wednesday day trip by train from Budapest, so other than the main sights and the fact that the performance in the theatre was a one-man show in Hungarian, which I do not speak, I regret not having planned another, full day. The next time I visit Hungary, I'll spend a couple of days in Pécs; for what I saw whetted my appetite for more.

Our first impression of the hotel especially from the outside was not good because it appears old and weary. We were well received and showed to our room which was clean and tidy. The room is equipped with a fridge, kettle and coffee/tea, air conditioner, safe and hairdryer. The breakfast was good with friendly staff although the dining room is small and very crowded. Free parking maybe a problem but luckily we didn’t have any. Hotel is situated in an excellent location and walking distance from downtown.

Everything at this hotel was really nice and was perfect for our quick one-night stay. But we would definitely come back and stay longer next time. The location is excellent, the rooms and all areas of the hotel were clean, and the entire staff was very friendly, helpful and professional. The size and furnishings in our room were perfect. And yes, the breakfast buffet is excellent, as many have already commented. The AC worked great in our room too. A highly recommended hotel in my book!!!

Nóra was a wonderful host! I arrived later than we agreed, and when I left, I accidentally locked some of my belongings in the room. On both occasions she was extremely graceful and accomodating. The apartment itself was perfectly clean, the kitchen was stocked with coffee, tea, spring water and even a complimentary bottle of wine. The location is lively at night but the apartment was perfectly quiet and I had a great rest. Will be looking up Nóra next time I'm in Pécs!

Firstly, the staff at the hotel are good in English and they are really friendly and helpful. Second, the location of the hotel is perfect for a weekend tour in Pecs. It is close to the major tour sites, the basilica, the city szechyni square and the barbakan of course. The facility is quite good, especially the free private parking space the hotel offers. I only hope the elevator could work next time, so that seniors do not need using stairs after a tour in the city.

The wonderful host met us at the included secure parking garage. She was so sweet to walk us to the apartment and show us around. The apartment overlooks the busy pedestrian street. The two bedrooms were large and comfortable. The main living area had air conditioning, a large couch and a large table with stools. The bathroom was modern with a large shower. Decor was stylish and cute. This was the perfect location to explore Pecs and a great value.

The apartment was a very good place to stay in Pecs. It is close to the city centre (15 minutes walking). Everything was very clean and there was a nice kitchen, if you need to have a basic breakfast or dinner. The host was a very lovely lady, that did not speak English, but we did not have any problem in understanding each other. Parking is available on Szabadsag Utca, there are parking meters at hand (card or coins) - the price is good.

The hotel was very convenient to the sights I came to see. The room was comfortable, and when I opened the window for fresh air there was a breeze much of the time. I liked the fact that the room was oddly shaped, with a sloping roof: not at all like the cookie-cutter rooms one finds in many hotels. The breakfast was ample and nicely presented.

There is no better location in Pécs, unless you stay at Nador (presently undergoing renovation) or the Palatinus - for double the rate. The rooms are small, but OK. Their breakfast is far better, than you'd expect at a two-star hotel. Staff is pleasant and helpful. All in all: worth at least 3 stars, even if a little worn and outdated.
